A typical leach pipe should never be deeper than 3' to the BOTTOM of the trench, the top of the entire setup (pipe, sand & gravel) is only a MAXIMUM of 2' down. If you compact ALL of the soil above the pipe you dramatically slow down the process of evapouration & therefore reduce the effectiveness of the whole system. In fact one of the best, yet seldom done, things you can do is to RELIEVE the compaction over the tile field. A slit-type (or spring-blade type) aerator is the ideal for this type of operation.When it water goes down it becomes contamination in the ground-water table, not a good thing at all.One of the best things you can do for a septic system is to keep it covered with a healthy cover of grass and keep it well cut. Thanks for the reply. I was able to fix a few days after. Replaced spring and used Kevlar belts. I got smarter and replacement this time was much easier. Also, surprisingly, both belts on front of mower are the same size/part number,

When you say it will not start, do you mean the motor turns over but will not crank up? Or do you mean it will not ever turn over?

If it turns over and will not crank up it could well be a fuel issue. I am not sure the engine on the model you have but our gas gator can be a bear to start at times. Have to be careful how you work the choke and throttle pedal. On ours do not pump the foot throttle or it will not start.

If it will not even turn over: are you sure the solenoid is the correct one, wired back correctly, wires are tight on the post? Check to be sure the battery cable is making connect as they should. This past Saturday had that issue to happen on one of my machines and only way found it was take it to have the battery tested and it was fine. Battery cables can not be making good connection and no sign of acid or such there but try using wire brush or sand paper to clean up the contract areas. Of course do check the switch.

Looks like I really lucked out had some rain but not so much as to wash out.

Then a balance of hot and cool temps.

So the lawn is the best it has been in years.

July usually burns it out pretty good.

I will probably hit it again in late August to mid September. While Lesco says each treatment is good for 45 days. Since I have not fertilized in ten years that seems excessive :-) and would have me doing it in the middle of the hottest part of summer.

So what you describe sounds like blow by. One of the causes can be worn pistons and rings. The other is the cylinder head and valves.

If you honed the cylinders yourself with a handheld honer that can be dicey as you are guessing instead of using a shop suited for precision.

The head can have issues worn rods bad valves, bad timing.

May be other issues like cracks.

Sadly (I do sell life insurance) I helped a casual friend with life insurance on himself and his two children. It was about twenty years latter he and one of his children were killed. The other child has been charged in the double murder. Really sad. If it is true the child did kill their sibling and Dad, did they do it just for the money? Regardless the reason, very sad.

I used my brother in laws Gannon Rollover three years ago on a series 3000 JD tractor and it worked good. I could operate the trip lever to roll it over from that tractor seat but if a cab no way of course. Their ground is very rocky and we used it to pull stones that were an issue from the ground so really not trying to rip the soil. Oh yeah, what soil? I really liked the blade based upon how we were using it and frankly that is what I think any tool or implement comes down to, how YOU will be using it. If used, try it first. If new ask who has one that you can go talk to on how it works and they MIGHT be able to show you or even allow you to try it. Don't miss the advice already given, I am sure for their experience they are correct.
