I have a 7235 4WD hydrostatic diesel. Drives good in low gear, but will barely move in medium or high gear. What might be the problem?

Yes I found the problem and it blew me away. A friend suggested the muffler was stopped up backing pressure into engine. He took the muffler off and cleaned rust till it was almost gutted. Nothing else was done. He put it back on and it ran like a scolded ape. Hope this helps..I know the frustration of chasing these problems!

The SD1540 waterpump or impellor were not used on any Ford models.I could check with Japan to see if they are available. Email me at parts at sheaftractor.net

Hi Thanks for the response.:) I have checked the throttle operation after assembling the govenor and injectors pump. With the engine off and the fuel shutoff solenoid removed (with a mirror) I can see the throttle moving the fuel control rack on the injector pump. With the engine running, the same check, I don't see the rack moving. It just stays in idling position. My suspicion, is that I'm either missing a spring or have the govenor spring connected to the wrong tab on the govenor control lever. The parts manual does not show the same lever I have. In the parts manual it only shows one tab and I have 3.

Long in this reply so you may have it fixed.

Have you looked at the brake pads? Could be them or could be rust on the rotor. If noise is only when first used after sitting for a while, humidity level affects that, could be light rust on the rotor. But it should get less as you use it. If it does not would think brake pads.

If not mistaken our sweeper is 60 inch and an agri fab also. But are you pulling it while mowing? Would it not have to be off set? Will tell you my wife told me couple of weeks ago we need to throw our sweeper away. Lawn has too much in clippings to use it. Sure is this year, after 19 years of seeding and sprigging and fertilizing and such it is thick as carpet, thanks to the rain the Good Lord has sent us and the fertilizer I put out.

I was able to match the old belts up at a local auto parts store. If anyone needs belts for a Bobcat 3 point finish mower model #3FM72 you can use DAYCO belts part # BP76. They fit perfectly and were reasonably priced.

We need a little more info to be of much help, but to start, do you know WHY it stopped running?

Did it run out of fuel? Did the fuel shut-off relay give up?

But taking a WAG, just because you have fuel at the pump but not the injectors (yet) does NOT mean there’s a problem. The pump output is very tiny and if there’s air in the lines it will take a LONG time to overcome that by just cranking.

Did you try the above idea of getting it running on WD-40 to blow the lines clear?

I know what you are saying. have to make that adjustment every season between using the snow blower and belly mower. different travel of lift for each.

It sounds like you might have several issues.

Slow movement sounds like an obstruction or restriction but with several functions affected it's not likely. Just for giggles, if it's a quick disconnect model check ALL fittings are completely on and not partially disconnected.

Spongy motion usually indicates air in the system, again, check all QD fittings.

If you have QD fittings I would recommend you bleed off all pressure (with engine off) on all circuits and disconnect, inspect, and reconnect all fittings and see if that changes anything.
