Yes, it sounds plausible. Most important, it sounds organized. The most important thing I found back in my tech days in the military was having an organized idea. Being able to take a problem apart into several smaller chunks and testing in a way that verifies which components work eventually finds what doesn't work.

It sure sounds easier to start by checking supply lines rather than fishing around in the 3ph looking for internal leaks. Good luck.

You should check with www.greatbendmfg.com. I have been told (by my JD dealer no less) that the Great Bend loader (subsidiary of Bush Hog) is just as good as the JD loader, but costs 20% less $. Looking at the specs for the Great Bend and the JD model for my tractor, they are nearly identical. My JD dealer has a whole lot full of new Great Bend loaders and a couple of JD models. Go figure.

Chuck, thanks for the reply. I will definately use ballast of some sort. Talked to a very knowledgable person on chemicals and said windshield wash was a very bad choice. I was told it is corrsive and also very flammable. Waiting for the new 4300 to show up, can't wait to get it. How has your 4300 been for reliablity and power?

I have just over 100 hours on my 4300. I have kept fairly close tabs on my lug bolts since I purchased this tractor a year ago. About two weeks ago I was very surprised to discover ALL of my left rear lug bolts loose. The wheel was chewed up a little which may cause a problem in the future, but for now it seems to be fine. I tightened them back up and it was work getting them back in (roughly 3-5 turns each). I checked the other side and they were PERFECT. I backed a couple off on the right side to compare the effort required to get them torqued down and I had no problem at all. At the time I chalked this up to a less than perfect seat on the left side rear tire (but I may have a thread problem). Looks like I need to jack up the rear end of the tractor and check it out. Seems like John Deere may have a manufacturing problem to address under maintenance for all of us.

i have a friend that has a 35 hp Kubota that we ran a hydraulic splitter off of the tractor hydraulics, there were three of us and we fed the thing as fast as it would cycle, and kept up with it ok, one fella running the valve and the other two feeding and stacking the wood, all three of us were busy. apparently these splitters are slower than the gas powered ones but i dont think they are that slow, but it all depends on how much wood you have to split, you also do not have to maintain the gas engine that you would use only occasionally. the cost of a gas powered splitter is at least $1000, thetractor powered ones about $350-$400 in this part of the country. i guess you pays your money and ya takes your choice.

Congratulations, Duane, and have many happy hours on that tractor (I'm sure you will). Mine cut my mowing time in less than half, too, besides being easier and more comfortable.

Kelly, I'm not enough of a mechanic to diagnose that problem, but I'd sure be calling the dealer. If there are no obstructions to the linkage and it's free, my shop manual mentions a possibility of a problem with high relief pressure and, if that's it, the dealer should take care of that.

When burying a low voltage wire for a dog fence, I rented an 8 hp edger with a straight blade. I was able bury 1500 feet of wire in 2 hours. The machine was able to cut through roots easily. I was even suprized to see that it cut through a brick that happened to be laying a couple inches below the surface leaving both halves of thebrick in place after going by. The width of the cut was only about an inch to 2 inches though. Perhaps two blades could be mounted side by side to get a wider cut.

I think I paid less than $50 for a half day's rental. I had so much time left after burying the wire that I switched to the edging blade and edged all the beds.

My sentiments exactly. I would be just as happy with the 4100 as the 7500. Although I like the price of 7500 much better... $14000 even for the 7500 with loader, 54" deck, R4 tires, hydrostatic. $14700 for the 4100 with loader, 54" deck, R4 tires, but a gear transmission. But I would have definitely gone with the John Deere if my dealers would have reversed roles. By the way, I hope to take delivery of my new 7500 today, and as you can imagine, I am seriously excited, an will probably not be worth a crap today at work.

I am currently looking at a 1983 B7100 HST Kubota with a 60" mower. Tractor has 525 hours of use mowing grass. Excellent condition.<br>Owner is asking $6500.00. <br>Is this a fair price ? <br>If the tractor needs repairs, can parts be obtained for this older machine ?<br>I would like to add a loader , box scraper and snowblower. Can these attachments be found for this year machine? Am I better off looking at a package from a dealer after adding the other attachments ? <br>Any advice would be appreciated. Billy the last the YM 2000 was built was 1977, they are very good tractors.
We sell our YM 2000 w/ tiller for $ 3850. We are in central Alabama, so the price may be higher in your area.

I bought a TC33D, with Super Steer(great for manuvering around trees & the like), 7308 loader, R4's, armrest/lights, etc for $16500 here is Ohio. The dealer is great. I was leaning toward Kubota, but the price & that 1.9% could not be beat. The machine is great so far.

I had the axle replacement done on my 4300 4x4 about two months ago. I approached the dealer first about the replacement. He didn't have any problems with the replacement. He indicated that I needed to contact the JD Customer Service folks and log a complaint about how my tractor was tearing up the turf (he gave me the phone #). After logging my complaint, the Customer Service people contacted my dealer about the problem. It was only after the conversation between my dealer and the Customer Service person that my dealer could order the replacement axle kit. It took a few weeks for the kit to show up. It only took the dealer one day to fix it. The new axle is great! NO turf tear, no black marks on the driveway, and the wear on the outside of my front tires has almost completely stopped. I only had 50 hours on my tractor when I got the axle replaced, but my front tires looked like they had 250 hours on them! Good luck! Steve

I have a Ventrac 4000 with the 24hp Kubuto Gas Engine. I took delivery from the dealer in May of this year. I purchased it with a 60" mower deck, a slip scoop and a 60" dozer blade. It also has the 3-point hitch system and foot-pedal options installed. I am extremely pleased with my dealer and his support.
