Not good, sounds like a crankshaft rod bearing has lost it's cap. When you took the oil pan off what did you see?

Don't waste your time with anything else......just buy the Pferd CS-X sharpening system. It's about 35 bucks.

You will absolutely NEED to know your chain pitch and style. There are different sharpening tools for each chain pitch, etc.

For example, you will need to know if your chain is 3/8" (375), .404, or ..325" pitch. You will also need to know if you have the micro style.

Chain gauge is the thickness of the drive link. New chains must fit properly in the rail in your bar. The most common gauge widths are .058, and .063. There are others.

Measure center to center of three rivets on your chain. Pick any three rivets and measure from the center of rivet 1 to the center of rivet 3. That's your pitch. Gauge is measured by putting a caliper on the drive link and measuring the width.

A little info on the machine in question will go a long ways to helping us point you in the right direction. Make, model, hours?

It's been my experience that if more than one, but less than all the lines are losing their prime it's one of two culprits, the injector pump or the injector tips.

Although not guaranteed, the best way to tell is the starting itself. When it starts does it blow any smoke? If so, what colour? Also, check the oil, maybe get a sample tested. Does the oil have a diesel smell to it?

If the tips are dirty and bleeding down the diesel will end up in the cylinders, generally this means it blows very noticeable white smoke on start up, and some of it will leak down past the rings and contaminate the oil.

Sorry I just saw your post. I have a 970 that had the same issue. we replaced the time module once it would for a while but started doing the same thing. I think the after market modules cannot hold up because it was bad again.

This may sound crazy but I do not have the funds to keep replacing the module and I need the tractor running so I removed the electrical shut off section of the sileniod and hooked up a pull cord with a handle and a spring to hold the unit open and just use it like it is. when I need to shut it off we just pull the handle. the older 1070's ran with a similar shutoff using the throttle handle.

I have not had another problem in over a year.

The tractor has a Koyker 110 FEL. The loader no longer raises unless I concurrently raise the gannon, at which point it operates normally. Float, or lower the gannon, and the loader will not raise. The scoop will lower and raise. The loader will eventually lower to the ground.<br>

Not sure how to gauge whether or not there is sufficient hydraulic fluid in the system. There is no dipstick, no bubble in which to gauge the fluid level.<br>

I have a manual (basically Japanese). I've identified where the filters are located (2), but have never disassembled before. Have not worked with hydraulic before, but fairly handy with tools once steered in the right direction. How do I relieve the hyraulic pressure before attempting to check filters?<br>

Try new fuel and add some cetane booster. Somewhere in the 7305 is some widget that messes with the fuel & intake systems when the engine gets warm; it'll run fine for a few minutes when cold then sputter/lose power/die with the widget kicks in. Kinda like an automatic choke on a carbureted gas engine, but I'm sure that's not how it's rigged.

I trust it's warm enough already in NH that your fuel isn't waxling up in in the fuel bowl? Usually a below-freezing issue...

Hi Murf,

If you are approaching the Broadway VOR BWZ send me a text and I am on the next ridgeline across the valley 5 miles south east.

Watch out for the commercial jets because they use this route to land in Newark and fly pretty low on occasion.

Plus in summer Trump is at Bedminister so Fighter Jets patrol the no fly zone which I am on the north western border.

I took out the thermo and ran until warning lamp came on. No fan, no heat at hose out of pump. No heat at radiator. I had a fair amount of white smoke when i ran it this way but not much when thermo is in. . I replaced head gasket on rear cylinder recently and was told the front cylinder was recently machined so i never messed with it since it’s difficult to access and figured it was okay. Compression is in spec but on low end on rear cylinder. I can’t really tell that there is coolant in the oil. What would be next place to check given all this? Seems like maybe a leak at front cylinder would be possible but compression checks out.

I have a 2017 John Deere Gator with only 142 hours that has no spark on either spark plug....I have replaced the coils and it has a new battery. Everything else works with the key in the run mode, lights, winch, starter, fuel pump, dash computer and I have 12 volts to the coils.<br>

There is a light on the dash computer that shows a manual and wrench indicating a ECM error but nothing in the user manual for retrieving any ECM error codes.<br>

Any ideas on how to retrieve the error codes on this model, (without hauling it to a JD dealer) it does not use a standard ODB tool. Any ideas on what could be preventing the coils from providing ignition spark to the plugs?

When I posted earlier I was apparently caffeine deficient.

I meant to say I thought the OP's problem was linkage, and that the problem "pinhmd" was having was gear related. I've edited my post now to make it read correctly.

In the very first post the OP says "When lever is in the [b][u]neutral position[/u][/b] and I push on the forward reverse foot pedal this tractor moves...".

If you can drive the tractor around with the range selector in neutral there's a problem in the linkage that allows the lever to be in the neutral while the transmission in still in gear.

Sorry for the earlier confusion.

UPDATE: The tractor has now been in the repair shop (beyond the first visit) in another repair shop (due to me distrust of AZ Tractor) three times. When in the high range and under load, the tractor has no power to the wheels. Meaning either with a bucket load OR a box blade load, while in high range, it presents no power to the wheels. The first time it was broken in two, the shop found very little indication of the problem other than the need to replace a few bearing and cleaning up a few burrs on a a couple of gears, nothing else was obviously in need of repair. Put back together and a charge of $2400 ($2300 of which was just labor) later, it was experiencing the same problem. Back into the shop at no cost of pick up/delivery (a really great help for me) AND NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR LABOR, broken in two and this time put in a new clutch (cost of parts only at $450).....still experiencing the same problem. Now here I sit with a tractor with only a little more than 100 hours or so on it, and I'm out almost $3000.......this on a tractor from AZ Tractor that was to come to me in a "like new condition!!!!!!!!" And I still have little to no power in the high range while under load. It did NOT have this problem originally but now with three grand out-of-pocket and still not a fully operational tractor. I can't sell it like it is, more money is going to have to be put into it to get it fully operational. So bottom line;;;;;;;STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM AZ TRACTOR! They sell shitty equipment, refuse to honor what the owner says that he will. Jack (OWNER) will tell you whatever he needs to in order to get you to buy from him.........MY ADVICE IS SIMPLE;;;;;; LIKE WHAT WE LEARNED IN BASIC ECONOMICS CLASS IN COLLEGE...........LET THE BUYER BEWARE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The plastic line shouldn't have anything to do with the problem, although it should be fixed because it will leak. It is a seal drain line for the hydraulic pump. There is a tin plate under the pump you can remove with 2 bolts for access to it. I am not sure what pto type you have on your tractor, but the loss of hydraulics while holding clutch down is probably normal. If you do not have independent pto(pto lever between shift levers) the transmission pump stops pumping when you hold the clutch pedal down. That is the reason there is a smo=all reservoir behind the fuel tank. The main pump uses the oil in that tank while clutching to shift gears. If clutch is held in too long while using hydraulic functions, main pump runs out of oil. It relies on the transmission pump to supply oil to it.

Its been an excellent tractor for me over the years. (currently has 2165 hours)
