Good call Murf and it could be an air pressure issue that caused it! To test to see if he has axle wrap could help isolate the issue. Do do that drive with the four wheel drive engaged on paved or hard surfaces and see how it disengages when you stop. If it is difficult and you have to steer or raise the front with the loader then you need to balance the tire pressures. Typically I start with about 10 lbs of air in the rear.

Thanks for the info jdgreen. I'm slow to reply because I had to wait for people to help me. Tested and checked as you said, also alternator didn't seem that it was working correctly because of the way it was charging. When started, started at 12.1 volts and took about 10 seconds to get to 12.4 volts. Took to my guy at G.S.Mags, Niles, Oh. He said alternator just a magnet, not the problem, probably the rectifer. Replaced and still no start. Asked him if he could get fuel selonoid, which he did, but it was 1/4" to long and would not fit in. Tired of messing with tractor and went right to JD and paid the big bucks. Replaced selonoid and relay. Tried relay first, still no start, then installed selonoid and I tasted sweet success,it started. Thanks again.

UPDATE: The tractor has now been in the repair shop (beyond the first visit) in another repair shop (due to me distrust of AZ Tractor) three times. When in the high range and under load, the tractor has no power to the wheels. Meaning either with a bucket load OR a box blade load, while in high range, it presents no power to the wheels. The first time it was broken in two, the shop found very little indication of the problem other than the need to replace a few bearing and cleaning up a few burrs on a a couple of gears, nothing else was obviously in need of repair. Put back together and a charge of $2400 ($2300 of which was just labor) later, it was experiencing the same problem. Back into the shop at no cost of pick up/delivery (a really great help for me) AND NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR LABOR, broken in two and this time put in a new clutch (cost of parts only at $450).....still experiencing the same problem. Now here I sit with a tractor with only a little more than 100 hours or so on it, and I'm out almost $3000.......this on a tractor from AZ Tractor that was to come to me in a "like new condition!!!!!!!!" And I still have little to no power in the high range while under load. It did NOT have this problem originally but now with three grand out-of-pocket and still not a fully operational tractor. I can't sell it like it is, more money is going to have to be put into it to get it fully operational. So bottom line;;;;;;;STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM AZ TRACTOR! They sell shitty equipment, refuse to honor what the owner says that he will. Jack (OWNER) will tell you whatever he needs to in order to get you to buy from him.........MY ADVICE IS SIMPLE;;;;;; LIKE WHAT WE LEARNED IN BASIC ECONOMICS CLASS IN COLLEGE...........LET THE BUYER BEWARE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The plastic line shouldn't have anything to do with the problem, although it should be fixed because it will leak. It is a seal drain line for the hydraulic pump. There is a tin plate under the pump you can remove with 2 bolts for access to it. I am not sure what pto type you have on your tractor, but the loss of hydraulics while holding clutch down is probably normal. If you do not have independent pto(pto lever between shift levers) the transmission pump stops pumping when you hold the clutch pedal down. That is the reason there is a smo=all reservoir behind the fuel tank. The main pump uses the oil in that tank while clutching to shift gears. If clutch is held in too long while using hydraulic functions, main pump runs out of oil. It relies on the transmission pump to supply oil to it.

I still have this DK 35 (2001 model.)
Its been an excellent tractor for me over the years. (currently has 2165 hours)

Five years later I am still in Lockport NY. Life is a journey. After 36 years of marriage my wife passed away unexpectedly two years ago. I don't need sympathy, I have already remarried to a wonderful woman and have begun a new life. I have been working for 4 years as a professor and am probably one of the few that voted for Trump. There are more than you think who are conservative at the university.

I miss the guys in tractorpoint. My tractor now sits at my son's house but I kept the trailer and bought a pickup so I can retrieve it every now and then. I wish I could smell diesel more often. I hope to get to the farm show in Seneca Falls this year!

I have a 1987 AMT Gator and cannot get it to start. It will turn over but will not fire. I have no spark at the plug, fuel is going to the carb. I have removed the coil and need to know how to test it and where to find a reasonably priced replacement. I have no problem re-wiring the entire gator back to conventional wiring thus eliminating all of the safety switches, un-necessary relays and circuit breakers, etc. Lights, etc., I can handle. Just not familiar with the stator methods. Can I use a standard after-market coil; if so, how is it to be wired into the existing harness. <br>
Need some professional help here. thanks in advance.

The tractor is now back in the shop. They told me that there would not be any additional charge since they didn't get it fixed the first time. It surly seems to me that it would almost certainly be a clutch related problem but it's up to them to find he source of the problem at this point. I will be calling them in the next few days for a check on its status but they have now had it for just over a week.

I will keep everyone posted on what the results end up being........

Thanks for the information. There were two caps and one was the radiator, so the other was the fuel. Guess the diesel was old, because the smell wasn't diesel. But I filled it with fuel and it's running great. Thanks for all the help. I don't know much about this particular tractor as I had never used it, it was my Dad's. But, after adding the fuel, the MF ran fine.

No. The rear cylinder is 155psi, 170 is spec. But it’s runs a bit rough at full throttle, Moreno than I would think and doesn’t get to spec rpm. I think it might need rings in tha cylinder. I did squirt oil in plush hole and got increase in compression. I can’t get to a rebuild until summer. I have carb jet drill bits and am tempted to increase the fuel a bit. Any thoughts?

I have a Boomer TC45D 2003 880 hs.<br>

4WD lever has gone "limp"--moves freely obviously not engaging anything and so 4WD doesn't work.<br>

It has always been a pain to move the lever into 4WD, finally learned to lift it w/ the bucket, that worked, but 3 or 4 attempts a year in the years before that of just trying the pedal back and forth and then pushin the lever, maybe too hard.<br>

Anyway, now the 4WD lever slides back and forth completely freely--no tension--obviously not connecting to anything and so the tractor now does not engage into 4wd. This didn't happen with any indication of a problem--like with any noise of any kind, nor any other issues--it runs fine in 2WD, it seemingly just happened without me noticing.<br>

Any idea of what to look for underneath to start with--it seems like it must be a linkage problem?<br>

Will I have to drain the oil completely--I just replaced it a few months ago, expensive stuff--or if I tilt it back with the bucket will most of it drain away from where I need to look?

That makes it easier.

Look at the valve, there will normally be a letter next to where each line threads into it. The supply to the loader will be the one with a "P" (pressure) next to it, and the other will have an "R" (return) next to it.

On the tractor follow the lines, will just go back to the reservoir, that is the 'return' line.
