I need to change the tans/hyd fluid in my 1500D. It has an add on joy stick for a rear bucket/scraper/3pt attachments. Does anyone know how much Fluid it will take to accomplish this. Will 5 gal be enough? ABOUT, BUT JUST ADD FLUID UNTIL, WHEN YOU LOOK IN, WHAT GEARS YOU CAN SEE ARE COVERED, AND THERE'S A COUPLE INCHES HEAD SPACE (SPACE ABOVE THE LEVEL TO ALLOW FOR HEAT EXPANSION).

-----Most important question is---- How many drain plugs are there and where are they are located?

MOST MODELS HAVE ONE OR TWO. UNDERNEATH.

A manual would be nice to reference but I can't afford one now and need to change the fluid quickly. Any downloadable copies out there? DOUBT IT. THE MURRAY MANUAL COST $40.

Also wanted to check if anyone know for sure if this has a screen instead of a screw on filter? I don see one on the outside. What is the location of the screen? ALL HAVE A SCREEN FILTER. LOOK UNDER FOR A TRIANGULAR COVER HELD BY THREE BOLTS AROUND 10 MM. DRAIN, REMOVE, CLEAN, PUT BACK. CAREFUL WITH THE O-RING. SOME HAVE ALSO A SPIN-ON FILTER TOO -- BIGGER THAN AND ON THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE OIL FILTER.

You can unscrew the cap that holds the plunger and replace the o-ring on the plunger. That should work for you.

I am having problems bleeding the injection pump, and injector lines. I believe the air is getting into the system at the primer pump. Any experiences with this primer (booster) pump? When I pump, the diesel squirts up along the shaft, and pressure will not build. If diesel gets out, I am concerned that air gets in along the same path. The bleed plug above this pump does not fill; rather, I continue getting air and a bit of diesel. Most of the diesel comes out at the plunger shaft, as noted above. Primer pump may need to be rebuilt?

Just curious if you were able to solve your steering problem? I also have a 420A and the steering is starting to give me problems. It seems to stop working from time to time, almost like the hydraulic power steering were disengaged, or worse. The wheel just stops turning for a bit, like it is locked. I am suspicious of the hydraulic power unit, Thoughts?

Hi Doug,

Welcome to the board!

The thread you replied to is a flaw years old, but no matter.

The hydraulics for the 3pth are separate from other functions. There is likely a control knob under the seat between your feet as you sit on the tractor. Check that it has not been turned all the way closed. It is meant to control the speed the 3pth goes down at, but if closed all the way will freeze it completely.

For the engine, yes, I agree, but for units with a hydrostatic transmission or even just the hydraulics for the FEL a minute is not enough.

At even just the freezing point the increase in viscosity can cause huge pressure increases in the hydraulic system until a few minutes of flow and friction warm it up enough to thin it out.

Will it crank over? Back in 2000, my newly delivered TC29 blew the fuse near the firewall immediately when I hit the glow plugs, one had shorted out, killing power to the ignition.

Both differentials and your tractor are just that, differentials. That is why you have a differential lock function for the rear axle. Unfortunately because of the steering action they cannot make the front axle lock or you could not turn a corner.

What you are experiencing is completely normal for any MFWD tractor.

Floor should be nice and level, no slope, 3000 PSI Concrete rebar reinforced, no cracks damage. Lot of weight to get underneath, be sure you are buying the best.

Take your voltmeter or 12 volt tester and check your voltage starting at your battery then the wire going to your fuse block then your fuse block fuses. You should be able to track down the problem. Let us know what you find.

Added hard plastic windscreen and fabric canopy--got worse. Opening vent in windscreen helps, but now it's winter. I'm looking at modifying exhaust outlet with an extension or something. This model has a Briggs v-twin and exhaust vents right under bed by hitch. Any ideas?<br>

Had a problem with my regulator too. A shop checked it out an told me it had to be replaced. A month later, they came up with one. Looked the same, but when I pulled it in, the oil light came on! Plus it was not charging. Brought it back to the shop. They wouldn't take it back, or give me a refund until I brought the tractor in!!!Needless to say, that was impossible. So I'm out $70!!!
Now I just charge the battery every now an then.

I have a long 460 tractor. The hydraulics for the 3 point gets it hydraulic fluid from the rear axle housing which gets it fluid from the transmission. Same reservoir. If you look under the tractor rear axle housing you should see a separate drain plug. If you look to see where the hydraulic fluid line connects to it is under the rear axle housing. I was having the same problem. I drained the transmission housing and refilled with new fluid, cleaned the filter, etc. The hydraulics still did not work. When I disconnected the lower hydraulic line on the pump no fluid came out. No fluid was flowing to the pump. When I drained the rear axle housing transmission fluid water, hydraulic oil and clumps of goo drained out. Rinsed it out with an approved cleaner and put new fluid in the rear axle housing. The line from the axle housing to the screen filter could be plugged up also. You might need to remove the line and check for blockage.(The line that connects underneath the rear axle housing to the screen filter). Hope this helps you with your problem.<br>
I changed hydraulic fluid,(on full mark), cleaned filter, cleaned check valve piston, installed new hydraulic pump, bled air from system, checked sensitivity control, checked draft control. Not getting any fluid to check valve piston.<br>

Right off the Bat the Low Price for MY 35 HP Nortrac was a big selling point. I did spring for the Extended warranty it parts only. The I had to get over the fact that this is a Parts Only Warranty. That it in a nut shell the first few week where they will send someone to work on it, Just is not true it isw not going to happen. That being said you better be willing to handle parts replacement on your own. If you can and for me its not a big deal. Just a annoyance. Clutch adjustments are a pain but I have had to do them on both mt Ford 800 an my Yanmar.

Most of the parts issues were pins falling off of linkages. PTO and 4WD selector. They will send the pins fast but some retainers(IE Self Made pins hold better.

For now I have had it 16 months it Has done what I asked it to do. Shuttle Shift? Power Steering on my 35XT and a Loader.

Worth it even being my own mechanic for right Now I say yes.

Early on the Kubota's were not a quick attach like the new JD;s loader so we often went to after-market to gain that feature. To not have a Quick attach is asking for high labor bills when the tractors hit 10 years old when they need to be split.
I'd doubt that any of the loaders used today would be a bolt-on although many of the universals might have the right brackets available if you could find a comparable new loader the brackets are not that hard to fabricate.
