I've had a 6x4 Gator for 15 years, mine just started doing the same thing. It's been too cold here in Maine to take things apart in an unheated garage, might go to 50 today, I'll check under the bed to see if my belt is tearing.

It should be able to be fixed without removal of the engine. On some models of tractors do to fuel tanks it might be easier to split the tractor to remove the head easier.

Wow, thx for your reply!. I needed validation for my instinct to replace the belt. My guess is the clutches need attention as well. Eventually I'd like to replace the 4-wheel drive function on it. As a 2-wheel drive unit it ain't bad though. I paid 1000.00 for it. I don't think I got took😎
I also have a 2002 Yamaha Big Bear so it's not the only thing I have for chores...Thank you for your support friend...

fishy1, See my post below, "CX Choke Revisited". You have a idle circuit problem. The holes/passages are tiny, take the carb apart and soak it overnight.

I know this is an old thread.
Check the hose that connects the pick up line to the pump.
On my 2510, it had a pin hole that sucked air into the pump.
it made the oil look like it had water in it.
I ran oil out from the control to a jar. Closed the lid.
after setting overnight, was clear, no water.
If the pump is sucking air, it can make things not work.

First, check the fuel shut off at the tank.
Second, check that the shut off pull is connected correctly.
It could be that it is holding the lever to shut off instead of run when pushed in (yours may be different than mine.)

May be helpful if you do not have it.
Next, l would be inclined to check the lift pump and filters. It could be that the lift pump is not getting fuel to the injector pump. There is a 13 mm bolt on top of the fuel filter, crack it or remove it (I had to remove it on my 2510).
Crank the tractor (I used a remote starter button so I could watch the filter) until clear diesel comes out. Close the bolt.
Once you have the lift pump and filters working, bleed the injector lines.
Do this by cracking the lines at the injector (all of them), turn over the motor until you get clear fuel with no bubbles. Then tighten up the fuel line nuts.

Be careful about how long you crank the engine. Give enough time to cool off between crankings, and do not crank longer than 15 seconds.

I am looking at the "V" blade as a secondary thought. I have located a welding shop in Canada but they have not replied back. Apparently they make conversion kits for many models.

Have done nothing out of the ordinary. Just noticed oil leaking on the ground not long after starting to work. It then seemed to stop leaking when warmed up. It happened again not long after starting then stopped. I investigated by removing the seat and plate. I then started it up and operated the rear hydraulics and it bubbled out of this plug. What is this plug? Why is it there? Is this a safety valve? What normally would cause this. Can't remember when the filter was changed but nothing done to cause any change.

There is no tension on the arms they move very easily and a clicking sound happens when you start to lift them. <br>

An update in case others have these problems. I finally took fuel injector out and had tested at a diesel repair shop. It was OK. They also said these little in line injectors are a bear to purge. They gave me some tips on how to do it. They also said even after presumably getting all the air cleared, it takes a pretty goot turn over to get the fuel pushed up through the injectors. So I reinstalled fuel injector and, following their instructions, loosened the connection to the fuel line, just loosened, not removed. I ten turn on ignitioned and the fuel pump forces fuel to squirt out the top, presumable forcing out any residual air lurking in the fuel injector. After I did this and retightening connection, I tried starting....no go. I finally had a neighbor come over and give me some advise. He has commercial tractors. He watched the attempted starting and remarked that the starter was really anemic and the battery was not turning the engine over sufficiently, even with jumping from my pick up. I decided to buy a new battery. Installed new battery and, whalla!, the tractor started right up. So my problem was clogging from fuel sitting all winter, plugged filter, failing fuel pump, traces of air in fuel injector and finally insufficient amps to starter to get fuel pushed up to injectors.

Last year I was in the market for a 60 gal air compressor. I did my internet homework and discovered that all of those discount 60 gal compressors are all made in China by the same company and come with terrible reviews (look at the Loews reviews for their Kobalt model). Long story short, I wanted quality and found a Canadian Company that sells "made in canada" air compressors! Couldn't believe it, so I bought one. So far its fantastic and definately of high quality components, such as a Marathon motor (Mexico), Square D pressure switch (USA) and good welds with a nice paint job. Yes, it cost me $300-400 more than the comparable Chinese compressor, but it works and factory tested before shipping. My air hoses are Good-Year, my connectors Milton, both made in the USA. And, using Amsoil synthetic compressor oil (USA). You can find North American tools, you just have to look hard for them and pay an extra premium...but you won't be disappointed.

my tractors 3pt lift is leaking down. I read gregs thread and I have done this before when i 1st bought the tractor, but am having trouble remembering how to reseal the piston. I have it open from the back and can see the the connection. I think I need to pull the pin out and hold up the arms then?? Do I need to open anything else under the seat? Any diagrams?<br>

There is a guy who has added rubber paddles cut from a used snowblower paddle to close the gap between the impeller blades and the housing. Search youtube for 'Make Wood Chipper Throw 2x as far and never clog' and see how much better it works.

I also have experienced problems with Jima clogging when I am running a lot of small branches with leaves and may go this route.

I purchased mine in NC, it's not a Jinna but very similar for $1600.00. I have worked it a lot and it has more than paid for itself if I had to rent one.

I have a PTO driven WC8 Wood Chipper manufactured in China that will turn 4 inch logs with branches into wood mulch as fast I can load branches.
The issues I have had to date were having to re-engineer a couple parts on my shaft driven roller feed such as adding a set screw to the hub to keep it from falling of the roller when handling bigger branches,
The discharge will clog and stall the tractor if you run a lot of little branches with green leaves. If you chipping 4 inch branches the wood chips should keep the discharge clean and it only takes a couple minutes to remove the discharge tube and clear the clog.
If you search alibaba.com you can order one for a very reasonable price. I have 12 acres we are clearing of hardwoods and this machine has paid for itself.
