As it turns out, my friends at John Deere wired the starter/generator into the electrical system backwards. So instead of charging, it was discharging and creating a lot of heat. Nothing wrong with the Mickey Mouse voltage regulator, it was working fine, just didn't know what to do with the generator the way it was wired.
Now that it's wired properly, the starter/generator charges the battery at 13.9 volts.

Shudder or clatter can have various causes but on a new machine I'd guess a seal-leak resulting in clutch surface contamination. Could be a lot of work to resolve but Kioti should be compensating the dealer.

If you don't want to accept the dealer's brush-off but don't know to exercise your rights (including a loaner during the repair), I'd consult a lawyer or at least a paralegal.

I asked about how the position control level and draft control<br>
level work. I know about the draft control function. I have had several tractors with draft control. My last was an Oliver 550. On my new Kioti tractor, DK40CHSE, my question is with nothing on the 3 point hitch. If I raise and lower the position control lever it raises and lowers the 3 point hitch lower arms. Now if I leave the position control lever down and raise the draft control lever the lower arms raise just like as if I raised the position control level. Is this how all of these tractors work? Please reply.<br>

Thanks I will try that tonight. the 3PH lever seems loose which made me think it was a mechanical issue as opposed to hydraulic but I cant see anything unconnected under the fender - its not the easiest of access points.

Where do you import and sell from? Around here people sell used Yanmar 1500s for $4000 and up. I'd love to get a new one for roughly the same price.

Please read this thread and let me know if it clears up your question on draft control.

Here is one of the better explanations

[i]Jon, think of 'draft control' as a form of 'auto-pilot' for the 3pth, you set it to a particular point and the draft control maintains it there.

In ag. use the draft control would be used to, for instance, keep a plow from digging in too far and stopping the tractor. Instead when the load got too great it would automatically raise the 3pth, and the plow with it. The system uses a sensing mechanism connected to the upper link of the 3pth, when you push or pull against the upper link it moves a valve that remotely operates the two lift arms that the implement hangs off.

I'm not sure that you could get the draft control sensitive enough to do what you want but it theory it should, you might need to work at a slower speed to allow it sufficient reaction time that's all.

BTW, draft also means pull, or work, as in draft horses.

woodie sorry for your troubles there. An hour drive might be a good investment. Eye to eye works much better than ear to phone does some times.

I ended up without tool box or bed cover. Instead I went with tool boxes on my two trailers I use for any hauling. I have had that pickup about a year and think have put near 4,000 miles on it. Do enjoy it and it is a very good workhorse. About a month back had to have major front end brake work at just over 100,000 miles. I got tickled with it about three months back, went to buy some landscape rock and asked them for two yards and said it will not take the weight. Okay give me one yard, when they put that in the bed it did not hardly lower the rear end. Said to me sir did not mean to hurt your feelings, did not realize it had that capacity. Drove and ran with what was suppose to be two yards much better than empty. Which brings me to I doubt the bucket on their front end loader really holds a yard.

You know that sounds like a lot of hours but only 233 per year or 4.5 per week. My B2710 kubota is little younger I think than that but may not be and it is less than 1,000. Might get it broke in this year. lol

A single shank subsoiler can be very useful if you think outside the box. Great for digging small stumps. Great to help with bigger ones. Great for laying wire, water line or such.Great for finding stumps under ground. Even great at breaking up hardpan. Can use for digging trench to plant seeds or transplants by hand. Can use it to loosen dirt that must be shoveled out by hand for ditch or wide trench.

Well Less than 60 Days and the Lift went out. Hood Latch Still out. 60 day on-site repairs are not panning out at all. Engine seems good Strong Loader is solid. Economy of fuel way beyond expectations.
So Far the Bad is getting some one to work on it. When you give 16000.00 for a Tractor not with 20 hrs on it and it starts to belly up. May Go ahead and Cancel the extended warranty. Looks like repairs are going to be on Me anyway

I'm happy with my 404 !!! I work it hard and it does a good job. My buddy has a 404 that he works crazy hard and it's great! Ours is the 490 bt 4 cylinder motor. The fuel injector has to be timed. Also you have the little dip stick ALWAYS CHECK FLUID LEVEL REGULARLY. If you let it run dry you blow the injector. Fill with hydraulic fluid.
