our 404 would run ok but if you went over 1,ooo rpm it would start to smoke (white) and run rough. if you let it idle it would run fine again, you also got spotted with black oily smudges from the exhaust(un burnt fuel).
Any way finally got a mechanic in to go over the machine, he was a bit stumped by the problem,and covered our ute and his vehicle with oily deposits from the exhaust whilst doing his tests, un beknown to him at the time.
I suggested that i had read on this forum that there are a number of in hose filters that can cause fuel starvation. He came back a second day and removed a couple of said filters and we haven't had the same problem since.Prior to that talk was of a replacement pump!

Box blade, finish mower, brush hog, back hoe, back blade. The least used tiller, auger, and sub soiler (but handy to have when you need them).

Sorry for the issue but glad did not failed at bad timing. Not sure "clunking" is ever a good sign. Know squealing is not, unless there are hogs around or maybe small children.

I very much know any fluid expands as it heats up but think all hyd systems for tractors and such have vents to release the pressure and even oil with some. Used my brothers hydraulic ditch bank cutter a few weeks ago and it has its own self constrained hyd system powered by tractor's pto. He asked me to check the level for he thought it was low. It was and took couple of gallons to fill. Not real hot weather and did not run it really hard but it probably pushed a gallon of that oil back out as it heated up. Probably that cutter needs a cooler on it for summer use. Mostly here they are used in our cold winters when temp drops to say 50. We cut ditches rather than push snow. OK a cheap shot but you think warm winters are only great and for the most part that is correct. lol

Which this brings me to I not sure have ever seen a manual that tells you to check the hyd oil cold or hot. I normally do cold.

Hi Mark I have a Belarus 520 and recently replaced the hydraulic line that goes into the base of the traction booster unit. When the line came off there was a 2 piece fork that holds a spring that holds a ball bearing that has a 4 finned piece that sits on top. After we put it back together I have no down pressure. We put the pieces back together the way they are shown in the parts diagram. Any thoughts on why down pressure is not working now?

Hi Iam pretty new here and I don't know where else to turn. We have a ford 532 square baler got it not to long ago and baled maybe 40 bales with it then bales started coming out banana shaped and would fall out of the string when you picked them up. We found that the spring (torsion spring) that hold the left dog down was broke. We have looked every where local and on the internet for these springs and can't find them. I would imagine that newer balers have these too where can I find them or can I modify something to work in their place.

Does this tractor have only the electric fuel shut off as many do or does it also have a manual pull cut as all use to? If it has a manual could be called emergency cut off all I have seen are a pull knob normally on the side side of the dash. May not be in the most visible place but should be easy to reach.

Do take Art's comment and find the issue and fix with the electric cut off solenoid.

Have not even looked at removing a Gator fender and have paid no attention to how they are bolted on our Gator.

Needed to remove rear fender from John Deere tractor this week and saw very obvious row of bolts and removed them. Oh that was not bad. But the fender did not wiggle, guess those bolts were for looks. Looked up under the fender and found along the top a much less obvious row or more bolts. When I did see they ended up under the side console thought, ask JD dealership on this. They offered to send me parts breakdown picture but it was decided they would do the job due to how large it really was.

So look carefully for hidden bolts, try wiggling the fender to find the area that is not free and look carefully. Also some shops or parts department will be glad to print you off the page showing the installation especially if you bought the fender there. Do assume you checked you tube to see if there happens to be video there.

I have a 2000 Turf Gator that doesn't seem to charge properly. It's been mickey moused around so that it has a golf cart 3 wire voltage regulator, not an original JD Gator. I'm not smart enough to put a JD back on it.<br>
When I check the battery with the gator running and the voltage regulator plugged in the battery shows barely 12.0 volts. If I unplug the voltage regulator and check it, it shows 12.7 volts when running. The battery is new and shows 12.9 when sitting.<br>
Suggestions would be appreciated.<br>
