Hi Kelly, I'm not certain what a 332 is but I suspect it is a lot like a 318 with a diesel engine. I used to have a 318 with the tiller and front blade. It was a great tractor. Never had any problems with it. I had the 50" deck and it took about 1.5 hours to mow 1.25 acres. I also tilled two gardens. One is 60 X 40 and the other is 30 X 25. It did a great job tilling. I found a link to a place with some prices for the components that you are thinking about buying. The reason I sold my 318 was to upgrade to a 4100.

I bought the 7275 I was looking at for 11,800. It had 700hrs with a new Koyker 150 loader. The tractor is in very good condition and so far I am thrill with what it will do. I think I got a really good deal but hard to say. I didn't see alot of Cub's around my area but I couldn't pas up based on price. The IH dealer in my town carries parts and thats the big reason I when with the Cub. They are really nice people. Love that Hydro. My old compact was a gear drive with no live power so big difference.

I priced one and was told $318. Is landpride that much higher.

Everyonce in awhile I used to see a homebuilt posthole digger made from an automotive rear end. It can be done, but what a lot of work! Most people would still need to buy the PTO fitting, auger, digger point, and teeth....which are a lot of the expense.

As I recall, the 790 is a fair bit bigger than the 4100. I think that 5 ft tiller might be too much for the 4100 but probably fine with the 790. And when it comes to weight in tractors, more is usually better. It's not like power/weight ratio determining how fast a car will go. The heavier 790 will pull more, throw more, and dig more BECAUSE it's heavier and more powerful.

I bought a TC21d about a year ago It's a great tractor. Heavy enought to get the job done, not so heavy that it tears the lawn up. I like it because it'll fit through the gate to my back yard. This tractor definetly has style and it doesn't use hardly any fuel. I'm the envy of the neighborhood. The john deere tractors are very good too but, they are more money. I think the John deere's will fetch a higher resale because of the name. But over all the TC21d is a well designed tractor

There are 2 dealers I know of, you can try Johnston Equipment in Weston and Parc's ( not sure thats the correct spelling) on RT 50 west of Clarksburg. about 20 minutes out on right side a t wiseman rd.

Paul, I have a similar situation to yours. I have 6 acres of grass and weeds that I mow once a month. It takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. I am planning on leveling it some this winter because the bumpy ride slows me more than the grass. I have a 32 hp tractor with 5' brush hog. If I can get it smooth enough, I am probably going to mow it with a finish mower. Brush hogs don't cut bermuda real cleanly even at a slow speed.

The transmission on my 4200 had a tag that said Funk Manufacturing, Coffeyville Kansas. I just traded up to a 4300 but I haven't yet had the oportunity to crawl underneath it.

Have an opportunity to purchase the garden tractor with a 46" mower, 42" hyd tiller, and 49" snow thrower. what would this be worth - only 595 hours on the tractor and it looks in good shape. i have appox. 2 acres of tilling to do - will this model be large enough for my needs? i am also concerned if this model has any weaknesses that i should look for. <br>thanks for the feedback.

I am shopping for a new compact tractor and like the looks of the Landtrac 360 but have some reservations about the hydraulic flow rate of only 6gpm. Does anyone have an opinion on what appears to be a low hydraulic flow rate of 6 gpm for the Landtrac 360? Most other tractors of this class are 9 gpm or higher. I like the Landtrac 360 alot with the exception of this one weakness. I want to eventually get a loader for it and possibly a backhoe and I don't want the hydraulics crapping out on me. Any input and opinions is much appreciated. Thanks!

Yanmar dealers are not required to supply parts or service for grey market Yanmars. I do supply & service them . I have parts books available for the grey market tractors. Many areas have independant tractor mechanics that will work on many different brands , including Yanmars. Steve, I'll take your last question first. With 27 PTO hp, I'd sure go for a 5' brush hog; not the 4' one. I had a 4' brush hog when I had a 16 hp tractor with 13 PTO hp, and now I have a 5' brush hog for a B2710 with 27 hp and 20 PTO hp. As for your first question, I've had very good luck with Tractor Supply Co. and have bought a lot of stuff from them. I have a cultivator plow and a double buster that I got from them over 5 years ago, and no complaints. However, I also bought a box blade from them about 5 years ago, and broke some welds within a couple of hours, took it back, got another one and promptly broke the welds on it, too. However, I think they just got a bad batch and wouldn't expect that to continue. And I couldn't complain too much, because they'll certainly go out of their way to make it right. Each time they gave me the choice of taking it to a welder and get it fixed and they'd pay for it, weld it back myself and them pay me, swap for another one, or take a refund of the purchase price. The first time, I tried another one, and the second time I took the refund and bought a heavy duty blade of another brand.

I have a PATU DC-40 (4 inch) direct drive manual feed that I run with my JD 750.
Manual feed can be something of a pain with brushy stuff, but the step up to power feed was too much for my wallet.

With the big flywheel, it does fine at 540 RPM, the tractor doesn't even know it's there, no matter what I stuff into it. There are two secrets to getting manual feed to work for you:

1. SHARP knives
2. Get the knife gap set properly. Too wide and it grabs the stick out of your hand and overloads the tractor. Too narrow and you get dust, not chips, and you have to push like billy-he!! to get it to feed.

Overall, I'm happy for the price.

Couple of comments on the trailer type: You get another engine to maintain, and that engine is (usually) not NEARLY as fuel efficient as the diesel in your compact tractor. Unless you do a LOT of chipping, mounting and dismounting the three point type is not that big a deal.

Mike, I think I have it figured out - at least on the model type. The 187D had ROPS and the power shifter mounted on the dash. The 186D did not come with ROPS as standard equipment and the one picture I have shows the power shifter on the floor. This doesn't jibe completely with my memory, but is the best I can do. I do know that power steering was an option for about $1000 for the 186/7 series and components for it are still available.
As for the tag, that has me puzzled. Where is that tag located on the tractor? Could you send a picture?

Thanks for the information. I don't know if I would like the foot pedal or not based on it's tight area of operation and the fact that I wear a size 14 shoe, but I would love to have foot control. My local Ventrac dealer, (Lawn Care of Pa.) has an older 4000 with a foot pedal on it. It will be going up for sale in the near future at an auction. I may see if I can borrow it and mount it on my tractor to give it a try and if I like it, I will buy a new one.

Are there any plans to re-design the dash? The location of the tach/hour meter is at best cumbersome and is the only thing that I do not like about the tractor. Although I am digitally oriented, there are some things that I think are better suited for analog displays, pressure being one, and rpms being the other. That is the most important gauge on the dash and it is stuck behind the steering column?

I would love to talk to someone and submit some ideas for a dash re-design. Let me say this. I would still love the tractor even if the tach was under the seat! The ergonomics just need to be cleaned up a bit here and there...

I would vote for a big analog tach with a dark grey or black background without 50 instructions written all over the place. Make the thing look user friendly, not like a piece of industrial machinery.
