Hey guys thanks for the help.I went by john deere today to ask if my loader was one of the ones that need the kit and I found that my loader (thank goodnes)was not one that needed it.I hate to hear some off the problems that some people are haveing with there tractor (4100) so far I have had no problems with mine.

I have heard that Eaton manufactures the transmission on the 4700 Hydro. Can anyone verify that? Also, I see a lot of posts about past problems with other models of the 4000 series. Is the 4700 too new to show any flaws or has JD fixed the problems on the 4700 design based on past problems with the other models?

Glen,I dont remember the model number,but last year i bought a bear cat 4 in. chipper.It was a manual feed and cost about 2800.It was ok for the price but manual feed is a pain.Either you have to push like heck to get the brush through or the blades grab it so fast that the tractor bogs down.I traded it after about two mounths for a Danuser 6" with mechanical feed.Cost about 4500.A lot less strain on me and the tractor.Good luck.

Does any one know of a web site for dempster planters? Old two row's are very common in my area, I'm needing a pair of sweet corn plates for mine. (the holes in my field corn plates are too big for sweet corn)<br>

Not sure what you have. How does it run? That's the important thing! The 180D was a collar shift 4+R manual transmission with high/low range lever. The 187D was a power shift with a lever on the dash to select 1,2,3,R in any of 3 ranges. So was the 186D, I think.....not sure of the difference between the 186 and 187. All three tractors used the 3T72 engine which is identified by a tag on the right (starter side) of the engine block. It says engine type, HP at RPM, displacement in liters, and engine serial number. Nothing on the tractor from Yanmar ever listed a weight. The transmission and engine tag are your best identifiers.

Sence I posted my original message I have talked to 3 or 4 different dealers and all told me thay could get parts. Maybe thay are limited to stock. I guess that maybe ok if thay have a big stock. I have personaly ordered a thermostat, tach cable the filter screen that goes in the fuel tank and the fuel filter assembly, all with no problem whatsoever. By the way I have a good used thermostat I replaced it thinking the tractor was running to cool, but it made no difference. I really like my little tractor and am not ready to part with it yet. If you still want to sell yours I would take my time, I think well have parts for a while longer. By the way the massey dealer I deal with always asks me if I want to trade it in so it must not be too bad. I know it's tough I pulled several tree stumps with it, it worked it hard, real hard, and nothing broke loose.

it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I just bought a Yanmar 187D 4X4 with 600 hours and a 60 inch finish mower for $5,450. The tractor is in real nice shape.

I sold my 5020 last year when I bought a Deere. It was an 87 model and I never had a bit of trouble. The paint was peeling but everything else was great. Had 650 hrs and it brought $4,200 with a king kutter finishing mover(5') and an atlas 4' box. Plenty of dealers around here for parts, Wish I had it back, it was paid for........good luck

That does sound like the loader #. For comparison, I'm looking at a LB1914 with a factory loader, big loaded ags, 70 hrs for $9000. The year is hard to figure because they don't connect years to serial numbers in the book. We think this one is around a '97-'98.?.? I've heard nothing seriously bad about these tractors, except for the typical skepticals wich I am. It looks like a good machine. Anyone have thoughts?

I am looking for a used loader for a international 234. I know this is a long shot since this does not seem to be a very common tractor, but I am unwilling to spend $3000+ for a new one. If I can't find a used one, does anyone have experience "modifying" a loader to fit a different model? Also, I have seen plans to make your own loader; has anyone done this successfully?

On above link you have to erase the extra "http://" that is in the URL when a URL gets pasted in. This is something the Webmaster should address. First thing is to get the dealers to price the items individualy. I was amazed at the price differances in attachments from dealer to dealer. JD was usually within $500 on the tractor but even more on some 3 point stuff. $500 on $16-1700 is nil but $500 on a $2500 deck is wow! Shop around for other brand attachments, just cause the tractor is green or orange don't mean they make the best accy for it. Good luck NHP.

Patrick,Thanks for your imput,I've looked at the Landpride line of mowers on the web,but not first hand.I know they make a good product,and we have a dealer close by,I'll have stop by and grab a broucure.The 11 ft. Bush hog mower outweighs the Landpride by about 400+ pounds,I figured most of the weight diff. was in the decks themselves,the Bush Hog uses 7 gauge steel verses 10 gauge the Landprides are made of.But 10 gauge is pretty healthy for deck material,I'm looking for a good quality cut and a long mower life combined.Do you think a L3010/L3410 would have plenty of PTO H.P. to handle that 11 footer your using now?Also what would be a fair price on the Landpride? Chuck, I'd like to see those pics. Glad to hear that JD lets the owner do the job if they want to.... and that you want to. My experience is that the best mechanic of all is a concerned owner doing the same job for the third time! :-)

Don't know of a site that shows mark-up margins, but they are fairly good. Quiet naturally the larger the unit the more margin the dealer has.

If you can give some specific brand pricing, I'll be happy to share with you what's in the market place in comparison. I'm fairly familar with CUB and Kubota competitive pricing when I see it.

Bob, Thanks for the info. Have you had any problems with the Woods in any way as far as attaching, repairs etc? What size bucket are you using and have you done any other digging such as removing tree stumps or possibly drainage? I am considering the 7500 - do you know anyone that has this model? Did your 6500 come with an internal hydr pump?

Another think that can cause a shaft to bend is the fluid being hyper-aerated. This can be caused by a small internal crack in the hydraulic pump or in the pick up in the transmission. The air being mixed with the fluid will cause the relief valve to mal-function. When this happens, the backhoe will get to much pressure.

I have a 1973 MF 175 with live PTO and cleaned the hydro filter as follows: Drain hyd fluid into a couple of clean 5 gal buckets. Remove the PTO engagement lever and cover from the L/H side of the trans housing (below the seat). Remove the safety wire that is twisted around the filter retainer. Do not destroy as you will need to re-attach after cleaning. Remove filter by unscrewing filter 'cup' and filter - the cup has a wing nut type deal on the bottom. Clean the fine mesh stainless steel filter in diesel fuel and re-install. Be sure to re-attach the safety wire as it keeps the filter from vibrating loose. Cleaning this filter made a major improvement with my 175.
