I've had good luck with my MS270 execpt for the epa problems--won't do as much as my big echo or husky but a nice little saw--I've learnt on this thread to shake the gas before using and not let ANYONE borrow it no matter how good a friend they are

I have an IH 284 and the bush hog was raised too high and now I cannot bring it down. It is making a high pitch whining noise and was not doing this until this occurred. Any suggestions?

If you spray them with diesel, you will ruin the paint job. An automobile is better suited to stay outdoors than the implements. If you have to store outdoors, spray all extended (exposed) cylinder shafts with a lubricant that wll hold up over time. Cover it such that rain falls off. Don't wrap it so tightly that moisture is trapped inside. It needs to breathe. In winter months the snow can blow in everywhere and get trapped.

In my opinion keep the car outside and the implements inside. Put your wife's car inside and yours outside if that is an option. Another alternative is to store it inside one of those tent garages. That will keep sun, rain and snow out, but again it needs to have a moisture barrier from beneath.

No I don't, but when I baought the tractor, the seller told me that the clutch has been replaced recently. Maybe he didn't tell the truth.

Yep, driving 360 miles to the ranch is just a little jaunt down here in the Lone Star State ;-) I'd be living there if I could get my bride of 37 years to give up city living.

The remoteness has its charms, but I have to go armed all the time now, since it is only about 30 miles from the border. There is a power line that runs along my north boundary which is the path illegals and drug mules use as they circumvent the border check point which is a few miles south of my place.

Don't think I will be trying to pull/push start it, it has a front end loader that is not a quick release, but rather a bear to get the bucket off and a 6 foot shredder on the back. It is sitting on one of my roads with high brush on both sides of it, so it is sitting until I can get it started.

Found fuel in oil and tractor keeps running. Everything I have read its injector. If so where can find injector or how to clean and check Thx for all the help

It seems that many things are good when new but with time we find things that need attention that the manufacturers didn't know there would be an issue. Sometimes it's from lack of anticipated use and sometimes it's from more then normal use.

Time and age does not always help us!

Sorry Jnsmas, I was getting any feedback here and lost interest. Not sure if you got yours fixed by now...Thought I would check back. I gave up on in until this week. Split the tractor again to try to figure it out. There was a bolt missing from the shaft connecting the transmission and flywheel. I found the bolt inside the housing. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

It quit working gradually until it finally "went out" or would allow me to shift without grinding it into gear. When I measure the Throw out bearing on the shaft it doesn't appear to to be close enough to make sufficient contact with the pressure plate in order to apply enough pressure. Not knowing for sure, it seems to be something with this that is the problem.

I might have to break down and purchase a repair manual but those aren't cheap either, which is why I tried this forum first. BUT this hasn't gotten it fixed yet.

Did you get yours running? If so, what did you do?

I doubt that you have over tightened. As was said before the back bends and forward bends will kill a belt if it's not flexible for the application Kevlar or not.

I buy 2-300 various sizes of belts for our straight up sheaves. I have tried a couple of the high end belts on my deck they do not last but a few mowings.

Bought the factory specific belt and it's on there for 3 or 4th season now.

The other possible thought is: you have to much HP to deck mowing too heavy a grass to fast.

I am not aware of any source for that data unless a Massey dealer. If it has options as to buckets that would also affect it. kt

It will prevent how far up the cutter tilts. As the cutter tilts up it pushes the pto shaft towards or even into the rear end of the tractor. Will have same result as using too long a pto shaft.

Well it does on my implements. Now if there is a chain in the third arm linkage it probably would not. kt

There is a lever on the right hand side of the seat. if that is not most of the way back it will not raise your 3pt hitch. I hope this helps. Also check to see if the gear lever for the hydraulic is engaged. That is located on the right hand side just outside the cab on the hydraulic oil tank.

In follow up I did use annual rye grass and it did very well. Love cutting grass when it is in the 30's. <br>
But so far this years it has been very rainy. We have had an inch plus almost every week and so far this month are about 11 1/2 inches. Boy is my mower having hard time keeping my zoysia cut! Looks good and have had the most blueberrys every and grapes are also looking good. Learned need to set up watering for the blue berries.kt

Checking the fuel line to the carb I had to take off the plate that the air cleaner mounts on. There is a hose that goes from the manifold and ends at the mouth of the carb. What does it do? It was rotted and just fell apart.

For the gas engines: drain the oil overnight,this part will sound strange,trust me.it works................put the drain plug back in.............<br>
drag you shop-vac over to the truck and stick the suction hose on the OIL FILL TUBE...turn on the shop vac,let it run a few minutes...get under the truck and use a good cleaner........brake cleaner works great,clean it really good then use a wire brush to remove any loose rust or dirt,clean it again with brake cleaner the use either or permetex item called "the right stuff"gasket maker,it comes in a tube like caulking.<br>
Get you caulkikng gun and a heavy pair of rubber gloves don't use the thin gloves this stuff is thick and sticky!<br>
Get under the truck and "smear"a good,heavy coat on the oil pan,smooth it up with you hands,don't cover the drain plug!<br>
I always let it set for about an hour with the shop vac runnig...tighten the oil plug,add oil,check for leaks....I found this on youtube a while back but couldn't find it today.<br>
I have done two of my trucks and two for friends and they have never leaked.<br>
Oh yeah,the shop vac creates vacum in the engine and keeps residual oil from ieaking out and contaminating you patch material......JB weld works,I prefer "the right stuff" 'cause ya don't have to mix anything and it cures reall fast.
