Greg,

I just received this so-called "fix". It is a bracket that will clamp over the top portion of the front latch on the loader. I suppose it is intended to prevent the latch from being forced off of the front bumper, allowing the loader to drop. Basically, it takes my "quick-attach" loader and now requires me to leave the seat just to remove it. I certainly, certainly hope this is a temporary fix until they can redesign the front latch on the loader.

If not, this will just about be the straw that breaks my back. Add this to the long list of problems with my Deere compact: Front axle, fogging dash, non-centering 3rd SCV, battery acid damaging my transmission cooler, oil leaking from the transaxle. I mean come on, how much R&D is the customer suppose to do?

Sorry for the rant.

Anyway Greg. Apparently there have been some cases where the front latch has failed, allowing the loader to drop. I can imagine that would be extremely dangerous. One should never walk under a raised loader, but I know I have in the past.

Early last Spring we had some discussion regarding Deere offering a telescoping three point hitch draft link option. As I recall one of our members was a Deere dealer who had been to a meeting when this was discussed and was told that the option would be available later this year. Has anyone heard more on this option? Attaching my Deere 25A flail mower (700#) to the 4600 is a painful experience with the movable draft links.

Bob, Thanks for the reply and the insight about your new 7500. Took delivery on the new Gravely 72" '0' turn mower yesterday, WOW what a machine! 25hp Kohler Command motor of course dual disc brakes, hydraulic lift deck, weight adjustable high back seat with arm rests, drink holder, ect.ect. Mows @ 10.5 miles per hour! Only takes me about 1.75 hours to mow my 5 finished acres! I think I'm going to be real happy with this machine! The new 7500 is suppose to be here this week, just not as excited about it yet cause me and my old girl (1210 ford) went out yesterday and roto-tilled a strip of land 700 feet long 50 inches wide for a row of pine trees. I know I'm going to miss the way she purrs and WORKS. I've been trying to find a friend that needs a compact but everyone I know says their wife won't let them buy mine. Usually, I don't do business with friends but my 1210 is in such good shape I'de sell it to a friend in a blink, hate to see it go to the dealer and have someone that might no deserve it buy it. I'm just glad that my wife says to me "buy what ever you think you need" then stands by with a pen, know what I mean? I'm a real lucky fellow in that respect. I'll probably be more excited when the Kubota actually rolls off the truck in my driveway. Thanks for the response. Bob

I have a Woods 6500 on my Kubota B7500. It's amazing, it will out lift the front bucket by a substatiall amount. I have dug out rocks that would not fit in the front bucket. As far the Kubota Model goes, I have no experience. However, unless your going to be digging in soft soil or constantly taking it off, I would avoid the 3 point hitch model. I would worry about damaging the hitch assembly along with the rest of the machine.

Chuck a 4300 with a 48 backhoe could reach about 10 feet out. Or you could find a contractor with a large track hoe. These machines can reach about 20 feet with out any problem. Chris

Ron, just a added note. My dealer quoted me a price of $6465 plus tax, installed. It included the JD48 hoe, the mounting assy, 12" bucket and power beyond additional hydraulics. The qoutes I got on the Woods 7500 with a subframe mount were right in the same price range.
Go with the JD48, it's a heavier unit. Another compariable hoe is the Bradco 408 but I'm not sure what the mounting system is like.

No, I always could generate good pulling effort, and the wheels would never stop while under load. You've got something wierd going on. Good luck.

The answer is that they will loose a little strength...but not much. In order for them to loose any rebound when compressed they have to stay that way long enough for the inter-metallic bonds to re-order themselves. They need time to "flow". Without any outside energy like vibration or heat cycling this is flowing is a very slow process. As an example, an overloaded truck with the springs compressed will loose spring strength pretty rapidly if you drive it over lots of bumpy roads, but park it instead of driving it and the process takes years. Or consider the valve springs in your engine. Everytime that you stop the engine, several of those springs sit compressed - sometimes for long periods of time. But "flat" valve springs are something that you rarely see.

Barry, another couple of reasons I would strongly suggest that you get 4wd is versatility. It really is the difference between easily doing some tasks and not being able to do it at all. Also, loaders don't perform well with 2wd tractors. I had the same lines of thinking as you when I was shopping for my 4100 last winter. But now I've come up with dozens of chores that I never thought I had a need to do, and I'm saving for a loader (that I never thought I'd want or need). One last reason to get 4wd is resale value. 4wd diesel compact tractors have a very high resale value for many years (actually as long as they still run -my shopping indicates that a 10 year old tractor will resell for 75% of the original purchase price). 2wd diesel tractors do not move quickly on the resale market and do not hold their value very well.

I like the hand control much more than the Steiner version as I have to lean forward a lot with the Steiner. The silly thing about a hand control is that both of your hands are busy all of the time. I miss the foot control on my Massey, but am very grateful for the maneuvrability (sp) of the Ventrac.

The TC33D has more than enough power for a finish mower. My third 10 year old Douglas 72" owner's manual states that the warranty, which is long expired, would be rendered null and void if used on a tractor greater than 25 pto hp. NH only factory installs the mid-point pto on the boomers up to the TC35D. A dealer can install the mid-point pto on the TC40D and my NH dealer tells me that the TC45D cannot have a mid-point pto installed. Don't worry about powering a finish mower. If you have heavy grasses and want to use a rotary mower (bush hog) than the extra power is very nice. If I had 36 acres to maintain (only have 10) I would probably do what I am doing/plan to do: use my 42 riding mower for the area directly around the house and use my 72" mower on the back of my TC40D (unless the grass gets too long and I need to use the rotary mower.
My rotary mower is 5' and I wish that I had a 6'. The extra foot would be really nice to give more overlap past the tires.
I agree with the other post regarding the foot pedal arrangement benefits of the larger frame vs the smaller frame.

The tractor must be operated with a backhoe or ballast box to offset the load on the front axle when using a loader. All tractors are designed so that approximately 70% of the tractor weight is on the rear wheels. I have used my JD755 B/L and have never had any problems. I recently moved approximately 140 tons of shale a distance of 100 yards. The limiting factor was the lifting capacity of the #70 Loader.

Anyone out there own or have operated a TD-1100 Tri-deck finish mower.This is an 11ft. finish mower built by Bush Hog.If so,I've got a couple of questions;what is the quality of the cut? Does it seem to be a maintenance hog?With all the drive-shafts and u-joints,and gear boxes,looks like it could be.Also dealer says a Kubota L3010 will handle the mower with ease,is a 30 H.P. tractor really healthy enough?Also,what is the maneuverability like? I used a tool that we call a spring-tooth harrow to break up an old orchard and garden. My tractor wouldn't pull wide one, so I made one up on a 3pt tool bar that is about 4 teeth wide by 3 teeth long. The teeth are staggered. Last time I was a JD I saw that they sell the parts and also make them up for people. It is a standard farmer's implement, but cheaper than most because you assemble it yourself out of parts from the dealer. A gauge wheel helps too, because the teeth - which are shoes mounted on the end of heavy springs - do tend to dive. Use it with the gauge wheel to set depth and with the 3pt in full down position. The teeth vibrate back and forth cutting and breaking things, and it takes several times to get down to full depth....about 18" for mine. You will need ag tires to pull it at depth. If you have turfs; use tire chains. I would say that it is a lot like a non-rotating tiller. It won't break up the clumps and roots as good as a tiller will do, but it digs deeper.

Greg, it's nice to see Kubota recommending that people use their tractors in the way that lots of us prefer to do. I don't think that I've ever read my owner's manual that closely. I'll have to look at it to see "exactly" how they word the section on recommended RPM.
Anyone wanting to add oil and temperature gauges with a "T" connector be sure to check to see if the block is tapped metric, US machine thread, or tapered pipe thread. I've seen them all ways. Automotive stores are the best sources I've found for the brass "T" as well as the gauges. Having tried several different gauge sets, my favorite (and the most accurate) is a subminiature set of three gauges in it's own mount for bolting under the dash of a car. I bolted mine similarly - under the sheetmetal just in front of the gearshift. The temperature is a capillary tube type, the oil pressure is an oil-filled nylon tube, and the other is amps. I have nothing against the electrical sender type for warning lights, but was looking for long-term repeatability on the analog gauges and decided to go with "real" gauges i.e.. The gauges were very cheap...in the $20 to $30 dollar range for the set!
