Treeman, I used a cutter once without the top link and regretted it. A friend suggested leaving it off for the cutter to follow the ground better and it did, as it pushed the pto shaft into the rear end jamming a gear in the transmission/rear end. I did that backing up a slope. The only good part was it jammed the front pto which I do not used so was fortunate there.

One point to the turkey fryer, hyd oil will burn. Maybe easier than you think. To the point I use old hyd oil to burn stumps and such. I have no idea what that flash point is for it but if you have used any kerosene or diesel fuel to flush the system and it is in your hyd oil,,,well just be very careful.

My left front bearing went out on my 7275. I took the wheel off. The housing is shot. I have the shop book, doesn't show good pictures or give a lot of information. It looks like I have to pull the gear off to get to the oil seal. Is there somewhere I can buy a used unit/housing complete or do I have to rebuild it. Where is the best place to buy the parts?

You can do that and be successful but yours didn't go to well. You will have to remove it and look for a pinched o-ring.

From bitter experience, I can confirm that a simple thing like the radiator cap can cause some confusing overheating issues!

I have a Massy ferguson 1010 diesel tractor and would like to see if anybody knows where I would hookup the lines for an extra hydraulic valve on my tractor for a front end loader. It is Hydrostatic drive.

Thanks for your help. I actually have figured at least part of it out. There is a control cable that runs from the quadrant (curved metal with adjustable stop) around to a set of linkages under the seat on the left hand side. the linkages are also coneccted to the draft control, 2 places on the 3 point and 2 rods to the pivot which operates the hydraulic valve. One rod from the linkage to the pivot is spring loaded so the other rod can overide it (if the 3 point reaches the top of it's range, the draft control is engaged, etc.). The problem I'm having now is that the cable and the spring in the spring loaded rod are broke. I'm trying to find a parts manual that includes these parts. So far all the manuals I've looked at do not have this linkage type control. The manuals I've looked at have all the controls connected to a draft control hydraulic valve which controls the main hydraulic valve via hydrulic oil preasure. If anyone has a suggestion on a Belarus parts supplier that is willing to have me explain the parts I need or can tell me if the expensive parts manual includes my set up, I'd sure thank you. Some makes seem to have few issues and some have a lot of issues depending on care. Sounds like jd prices but that price probably included labor. Some dash boards are only in the 200 dollar range.

Greg gave good advice. I try to wipe my quick connectors every time before I hook them just in case there is a speck of dirt to hold the valve open. No idea on a fel loader but you may find you need to release pressure on the hyd system to disconnect or connect those fittings. Depending you on your system that may mean cutting the tractor off and working the controls. kt

I think your tractor has wet brakes, meaning the brakes are running in the hyd oil system. If so them sticking I would think would be the linkage outside the rear end. Begin by checking that linkage for heavy rust or bends or some foreign material such as a piece of limb even.
Check the hyd oil level. One other thing, does your brakes had a lever to lock them engaged? Look and be sure it is not getting locked. Could be issue with that also.

But you either have stuck brakes or no breaks? That seems rather odd to me. What kind of transmission do you have, manual or hydro-stat? If hydro-stat often you don't use brakes as much and might be easier to miss them going bad or how they really are working. Does this happen with both brakes or just one side? Are the brakes locked so both work together? Normally a flip lever on the pedals. kt

Is this air conditioning in your house or other building or on a piece of equipment? How do you know it is using "much more energy"?
What have you done to check or service it? If it has filters have those been changed?
Is the weather hotter than normal where you are?

Unless you know A/C systems and have the equipment the recommendation for professions is proper. A small screwup can increase repair cost.

Dennis,

Yes, our snow has melted, but the rain doesn't seem to stop. We've visited the tree pile twice over the past two weeks. The mud is at least ankle deep around what remains of those trees. It appears as though it may be August before we'll be able to get in there without getting stuck.

I'll keep you posted.

I remember back in the late 70's early 80's we were the northeast distributer for Same tractors. It seemed that while coming across in the early days that the salt air would get into the clutch housing and rust up the shafts. Although I can only remember having to split a couple in our shop normally a high gear run and hitting the brakes would jar them loose.
It does sound like yours is a bad one and I'd recommend splitting so your costs might be lower possibly not having worn out the clutch disc yet.

Which 420 do you have? Is it a lawn and garden tractor from the 80's or a two cylinder utility tractor from the late 50's?

You are correct. THe short, short, short, long code is for the throttle position sensor voltage out of range. When this code is active, that load match is disabled and that is why your symptoms go away. A thought just occurred to me.. Maybe you should check all of your engine mounting hardware. If the side frame bolts or bell housing bolts are loose, it might allow enough flexing of engine in the frame while turning to cause the flywheel sensor to malfunction. If bolts are all tight, I would replace the engine speed sensor, or at least swap the mfwd sensor and flywheel sensor to see if anything changes.

Crunch I had considered buying a 3ph core aerator to hire out as it can be used as for overseeding as well.

They are a bit pricey though, and homeowners do not really understand the benefits that well and need to be educated. Other issue is that the core aerator can and will cut dog invisible fences and irrigation lines, so you need a contract that does not hold you liable up front. That will probably turn off most customers....:(
