Known issue on all diesels and can be scary when it happens. One recent post on a tractor forum - the runaway happened when the hydraulic pump seal leaked pumping a bit of hydraulic fluid into the crankcase. When it got to where the fluid was sloshed good by the crank, it fed back through the breather and the engine took off uncontrolled. As an OEM manufacturer, had this same thing happen many years ago. So frightening for the operator they reported getting out of the machine and running because of feared explosion, but fortunately the engines seized and we replaced under warranty and relocated the hydraulic pump off the engine. Working at my second and last manufacturer, I needed to come up with an emergency shutdown procedure when all else fails. I wanted to write in the OMM that the operator must take the cap the dealer gave him upon delivery and put it over the air intake. It didn't fly. Believe it or not we have both power to run and power to shut down systems so if you lose all power you can't shut down. Those engines have a mechanical plunger but who wants to hold a mechanical plunger on a running diesel? I like this idea.

A few years ago bought a rear blade rated for like 60 or more horse power. It came with cat one pins. Had to replace them all the time, not the weight of the blade (sure less than your blower) but as Joel said with hitting stuff. Bought pins from NAPA and lowest price source and all others. Talked with a client who had decent metal shop on making me pins and he told me wasting time. Needs cat two pins. Went back to retailer of blade and they looked and agreed with me and went back to manufacturer, who furnished the parts to change to CAT 2 pins. No more bent pins.

I learned all lift pins seem to be same grade and think they sold the blade rated for horse power they did not want it rated at so limited it with CAT one pins. I have forgotten now but those pins are equal to either Class 5 or 8 bolts. Class 8 is a strong as I am aware of with such. kt

Well I did it and hope I never have to do that again! I had two of my boys hang off the side for extra weight, which gave me an extra 330 lbs. Pulled between a 35 to 40 degree angle around a thousand foot long and made two passes. There was a point where the high side wheels were running an inch or so off the ground. It was as hairy as I care for. Larry.

If I ever buy another snow blower I'll strongly consider the Erskine rear pulls. We had one 40 years ago and I can't remember a drift we couldn't handle. High drifts you can back into or drive beside and turn away to angle in. A lot easier on the neck. A little pricey, but very nice to use. Driving over the snow doesn't seem to matter as the weight is there to skim down close enough. Either that or something loader mounted. The Farm King 740 works great except for the pain in the neck.

[/QUOTE]There is a diverter valve that switches hydraulic flow between the rear lift and the rear remote (that pipe that sticks out the side then points rearward). Sounds like your diverter must be directing the flow AWAY from the rear lift.

As stated, the divertor valve on older models was a hex head on the left side of the hydraulic sump housing (as seen from the operator seat). And the flow rate control valve is in front and below the operator seat. On newer models, the diverter valve has been incorporated into the flow rate control valve. Don't remember if it's full clockwise or full counter-clockwise, but one of those diverts flow to the remote.

If you're wondering why the bi-idirectional remote, it is generally intended for use with hydraulic dump trailers. I guess they're more popular in China than they are here. Fluid under pressure raises the trailer bed, gravity pushes the fluid back to the sump.

have a 1986 massey ferguson 1030. have owned it for over 3 years and so far no issues at all. I use it to mow 8 acres with a bush hog. use it numerous times during the warm weather as I keep my property mowed.

The other sensors that make the load match work is the throttle position sensor and the engine speed sensor. The engine speed sensor can cause the surging speeds also, just like the mfwd sensor. Depending on your serial number, it is either the same part number as the mfwd sensor and mounted in the bell housing or the sensor could be built into the alternator.

My son bought a 505M that we are attempting to bushog with. It had no manual with it and I don't understand the controls. I figured out how to engage the PTO but I can't figure out how to lift the 3 point. The quadrant control right of the seat has no effect but you can turn a pivot that has rods hooked to it under the dash and the 3pt will raise but lower as soon as you release it. I'm thinking there must be a mode lever I'm missing or something. It has a draft control left of the seat that is connected to a bunch of linkedges and rods that are in shambles. I can't find a breakdown or picture of the controls on the internet for this model. He purchased a service manual but the diagrams don't match his tractor so I'm thinking he got the wrong manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did not notice this in the thread but what would be the difference of planting over leach lines and fields with manure spread over them? Not talking about possible damage to the lines from tractor on them, the chemical or health issues. kt

The loader would counterbalance the extra weight of the 5 footer, but 19 PTO horsepower is insufficient. Actually, I doubt if you actually [I]have[/I] 19 hp at the PTO. The standard rule of thumb for geared tractors; PTOhp = engine hp minus 14%. That means you could have as little as 17 PTO hp. Even with a 4 footer, count on struggling through tall/wet stuff.

Not to say you can't find a 4 footer with slip clutch protection, as they're more common on 6-10 footers and a few higher end 5 footers. Either not available or optional on most 4 footers. Not even Bush Hog offers a 4 footer with slip. Those with, are not going to be cheap. Check out

put the coil on today and it runs perfect 500.00 for a 2004 gator with 3500 hours 500.00 for all new tires 10. one new valve, 25.00 fuel pump, 200.00 carb, 120.00 coil with built in ignitor , primary clutch free, secondary clutch 230.00 total 1600.00 for a very clean mechanicly sound gator im very happy today thank you for the help

The PTO seal is leaking on my MF 471 (4x4 Cab model). I have a replacement seal on the way, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with changing the seal. Does the plate over the shaft have to be removed to replace the seal? If so does the PTO shaft have to be removed to replace the seal? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm one to not modify things to much unless it is done right. The numbers do not match as the M-59 is quite a bit different from the 45 although they are both for the same purpose. I do not know of anyone that has adapted what you are interested in doing but proper lines are important to the health of the hydraulic system.

I would start with fuel, put some fuel in a spray bottle and spray a dab in the carburettor while cranking, when she starts to keep it running spray a dab in in intervals and if it stays running lack of fuel is your problem. If that doesn't work for you try jumping it, when you put your jumper cables on, go straight from Battery post to Battery post with both + and - with the target vehicle running that should let you know if it's a battery issue. If that doesn't work try turn up kit. If that doesn't work check compression. If that doesn't work try saying a prayer. If you want to save some time try the prayer first ! I'm just saying, Godspeed...

I ended up taking my tractor to a dealer. I have not got it back yet. I will let you know what they found after I get my tractor back. Bryan

Joel thanks for all your help. Got stumped Saturday, we failed to get it to start. It has an electric fuel pump and it would not run. His nephew a small engine mechanic said it started right up last week for him. Will let you know what we find, when/if we do.
