Have put hundreds of thousands of miles on Mercedes over the years, but I'm just not ready for a front wheel drive Benz. I know it can be configured for AWD, but it's just not the same to me.

I agree with your plan of attack here. Since this tractor is new to you, I'd let the dealer have the first shot at figuring out the problem, as well as how to make things right with you.

From the information you've provided to this point, I'd be demanding a different tractor. It sounds to me as though this one hasn't received the best (if any) regular maintenance. Stand your ground.

I am not sure how handy you are with fabrications, but if you are not, check the area for a fab shop and explain the situation. I believe with a bit of checking around, you will find some shop that can do exactly what you are seeking. The term, "you cannot do that..." typically today, means that there is no part number associated with it, and no one wants to be bothered figuring it out. A good fab shop will and can.

First guess is that the FEL controller is malfunctioning, the usual culprit is dirt. It may be blocked to the point that it's not restricting the flow your fresh hydraulic fluid. If you're confident in your mechanical abilities, you can remove and try to clean the controller yourself. If not, take it to a hydraulic shop for cleaning. In both cases, mark all the hoses and hose locations so you get it reconnected correctly the first time.

I am replacing a timing cover on a 230 mf that has a ad3-152 perkins engine.On the cover their is a strip of metal that holds the camshaft in position. Is there a thrust washer between this strip of metal and the camshaft gear? Thanks Milt.

Hi Winston!
I was finally able to get a hold of HF and they quickly determined that it was a bad solenoid and that they were going to ship a replacement out immediately! I was quite impressed honestly since I bought it before Christmas time and just got around to installing it now which is way beyond their 90day warranty. Hopefully its a quick switch and I'll be up and running.

This will be primarily used for assisting with pulling fallen trees out of the woods and pulling me out of mud holes : ) Its quite embarrassing when you get your "tractor" stuck in the mud and it takes your neighbor and his Honda Rancher to pull you out, lol!

I see you used a front trailer hitch to mount yours. thats a pretty unique way of doing it especially since it gives you the flexibility to remove it and use it for a ball hitch. Reminds me of a friend in FLA that uses a old beefed up golf cart that he mounted a ball hitch too in order to move Cessna planes around a hanger. I simply had a local fab shop make me a 90deg plate with side reinforcements and bolted it to the 4pin front bumper; which is green in your pic. Once mine is up and running I'll take a pic to show you.

Don't know much about computers, but have Windows 7 Professional installed on a couple of my laptops. A computer guy downloaded some software allowing me to run in virtual XP mode. So, the Windows 7 programs run 64 bit and the virtual XP runs 32 bit. It takes some time to get into and out of the mode but it allows me to use older software. You need the Professional version to do this. It is a little cumbesome and may be somewhat slower but works. My Dell laptops are real fast, so I don't care!
