No, it's a self-priming system. Unless there's a suction side leak, the only way it wouldn't automatically bleed itself would be if the vents in the rear fill plug were blocked. That said, have you actually checked the hydraulic fluid in the sump? If it was never changed since new, it's almost certainly a viscous emulsion by now. I'd start by draining the hydraulics completely, flush and reflush with kerosene, then refill with AW32 or ISO32<br>

Sounds like a shift linkage problem. Can you get a helper to move the lever with the tractor off while you look underneath? Could be excessive play in the linkage.

You will just have do trial and error.

Is there a lockout on that model to keep you from going into reverse?

My Shibaura is having the same issue. I have the knob between my legs with a symbol of a rabbit and a tortoise to indicate the speed in which the implement rises and lowers. I have it set all the way to the fastest position and my brush hog is stuck in the up position. The other day, I drove around for about 15 minutes and kept working the lever as well as my bucket, until It finally dropped down. I need to get my field mowed and nothing is budging this upper arms. I thought my hydraulic tank might be low, so I filled it, but fluid begain flowing out of the dipstick hole. I'm about ready to sell this little turbo.

My 4310 hasn't given me any trouble other than normal maintenance. The only thing fixed was the instrument panel was replaced early on due to fogging but the new one has had no such problem. The skid plate probably prevented a lot of trouble by protecting all the under-chassis wiring harnesses. I have about 350 hours on it but after initially building trails and cleaning up around the property it has been mostly used for mowing, spraying and towing the big chipper around as needed. I stopped cutting firewood and now just chip everything since my wife's asthma flares up any time we burn. Enough firewood for emergencies and that's about it. The backhoe will get another workout this year as I build another retaining wall.

Overall, no complaints here. I hope to avoid problems such as you had but my guess is the front axle is of similar design to yours based on inspection. It does look like bronze bushings on the top end.

I believe Murf has it nailed down.

A similar situation happened to me. I discovered that the fuel shut-off solenoid was faulty. The tractor would start, but it wouldn't continue to run. This puzzled the living daylights out of me, until I discovered that the fuel solenoid coil has two separate coils internally.....a start coil and a run coil. The run coil was open.....or broken wire.

Check your fuel shut-off coil's electrical connection. If you see that the plug has three terminal connections, your coil is also dual function.

If you find that the coil is bad, make sure you take the numbers off of it and search for that number on ebay. Most likely you'll find an exact match for 1/10th the price of the dealer's part.

I've blown through some drifts that were as high as my roll bar. When attempting to move that much snow, very slow speeds are required. Even the creeper gear in a manual transmission wouldn't be slow enough. The same is true when using the tiller in virgin sod. <br>

It's amazing how slow a person can go with the hydro transmission when at full throttle. I'll never own a gear transmission again. <br>

The problem is the relay. I had the same problem , tried the battery fix...no luck, changed the relay and works like new.
Beware, the dealer will charge you $70 for it. I acquired it on EBay for $9.
It's found by searching for a kubota glow plug relay or timer. It's made by NGK and works perfect in our tractors.

Have two gators one has serial number of *W004X2X046688* the other one has a serial number of W04X2"S"D0494855. The letter in quotes I believe to be an "S" wher it could be a 3,8,9. Not suree. Trying to read to read the number thru the laser holes in the paint. Any help whould be greatly appreciated. Just need to know which selection of parst breakdown I need to use on each one and the year.<br>

Hoo, boy! Someone saw you coming, I'd say. There's no way that tractor weighs 8300 pounds! Try more like half that. If you could get it for 700 bucks and get a new block for say 400, you might barely be okay on the deal. But you'd still have several hundred more to spend in rings, seals, gaskets, etc. I'd definitely pass on that one!

First.... a 4100 has 20 HP, not 50..........

And....... I have in front of me a spec sheet from Deere published about 10 years ago.

It says a 4100 will handle a 72 inch rear finish mower.

Sorry to hear about you taking the tumble. It seems we are always about a second and a half from being banged up somehow or other.
Your comment about eating the take out hit's home here too, some of the stale looking potato salad and other prepared things at the supermarket deli keep us eating our own food. We've never gotten sick from any deli food, but sometimes it made you wonder as you bit into it.

Clutch has to come off and apart to change rollers. Special tools needed to remove and dismantle clutch. Tools avaliable from Deere. Would be cheaper if you could borrow them from a dealer.

To ad a little information, there's a company in Tulsa, Oklahoma and also in Oklahoma City called Seals Co. that has all the seals needed for complete cylinder rebuild on the old Terrain King mowers. I rebuilt my cylinders and got all the seals I needed from them. As far as the U joints for the PTO shafts, their impossible to find! I have one joint that won't last much longer and I have to convert them to a more modern U joint by a machine shop by using part of the old joint and adapting it to a later type. Mine has the square shafts which haven't been used for years. I've went through the dealer net work already and they only deal with the side boom mowers anymore which are hydraulically powered. Thanks for the reply. Mine uses shift forks on slide rods.
The shift handle has a ball on the end that moves inside two shift adapters and these move the shift forks that are in a groove in the gears and slide them back and forth. I do not have any cables at all.
