Thanks for the vote of confidence in Long tractors. I have exchanged emails with tractor joe in the past, I suppose he is the same as Joe's Tractor?
I was betting that this tractor was built of very simple, heavy duty, and commonly available components when I bought it. The way it looks now, it is also a low theft risk.
Painting will wait until I learn more about the prep, accumulate the equipment to do the job.
Plan to do more electrical clean up next, check the front wheel bearings and tie rod ends for wear, and enjoy running the tractor.
Now if I could only figure out how to post a pic...

Fusible link melted from starter to three wire joint.

About the worst possible way to connect a 3 to 1 connection. Even if I get a fusible link, trying to connect it to the splice is going to be a real bitch. Time to get creative...

TBN has multiple accounts of this happening as well as other sites and other on line blogs. As a rule, I am cautious of blogs because they can be abused so easily. But with that many accounts of the same thing, it was why I bought Kubota when I bought a small tractor especially as I wanted a small FEL to work with. To much money to risk on a tool, for me it would be like buying a hammer that couldn't pull nails.

I have an F-40 Ferguson which is the same as a 50 M-F.The Engine was made for 103 octane, do as the man above me says,then start using a Octane boost with you fuel,But first I would drain the gas tank,then replace fuel with new fuel and I also use about 1/3 quart of motor oil per tank of fuel.because of the fuel today is made from corn and has no oil in it.
Seafoam is good to use often.in these older gas engines.

Great news here, thought might need it this past blizzard. Came in Saturday and left us about two inches. It had melted by mid day Sunday..not enough time to hook up anything.

Now when we get our next hurricane will call on you.

I really have no idea how much a rounded up load of rocks would weigh, but my guess wold be in the 800 - 1,000 lb. range The six wheeler hanled the load ok being 90% of the load in the box was directly above the four rear tires.

At about this same time I had a four wheel Gator and a twelve row corn planter. I would park the Gator in the field where I was planting. When I neded more seed I would drive the Gator back to the farm yard and load twelve bags of seed then head back to the field to refill the planter. At that time most seed bags weighed from 45 - 50 lbs. plus probably 50 lbs. of tools, etc. so maybe 600 lbs. of load, plus me on a four wheeler. That was a big enough load so the extra two wheels on the six wheeler are a definite plus for heavy hauling.

There's wrecking yards for those machines, I recal a thread about tractor bone yards a few years back.

If you use the search function you'll likely find it, there was a list of websites for them.

Thanks for the info. I do believe I did use Universal tractor hydraulic fluid for older tractors from Tractor Supply Co. It seems to be doing fine so far. No problems with lift, transmission, etc. Thanks also for the contact info. Will remember it when needing parts or advice.

Hello My name is Nathan Here is a few things to try WITH A TEST LIGHT TURN KEY TO START, YOU SHOULD HAVE FIRE ON LITTLE WIRE ON SOLENOID. IF NOT YOU HAVE BAD STARTING RELAY,BAD SWITCH OR BAD WIRE. IF YOU WANT TO ELIMINATE ALL PROBLEMS. GET A PUSH BUTTON STARTER SWITCH. RUN 2 WIRES TO STARTER PUT 1 WIRE ON LITTLE POST. PUT OTHER WIRE ON BIG POSITIVE POST COMING FROM BATTERY. IF TRACTOR DON'T START THIS WAY EITHER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS BAD.YOU CAN RUN ONE OF THE WIRES THROUGH THE NEUTRAL STARTING SWITCH SO TRACTOR WONT START IN GEAR. TO TEST SOLENOID OFF OF STARTER. TAKE JUMPER CABLES HOOK TO BATTERY PUT POSITIVE WIRE ON POST COMING FROM BATTERY PUT NEGATIVE WIRE ON OTHER BIG POST. TAKE JUMPER WIRE JUMP POSITIVE POST TO LITTLE POST. I am in need of a wiring diagram or manual (English) and also need to know the Massey Ferguson crossover. I am new to this site and have done alot of research but can't find a manual that shows the proper diagrams.<br>
I had a small fire at the voltage regulator and the glow plug relay which melted a few plug in connectors I thought I had a wiring harness located in Texas but was the wrong one. Could someone steer me in the right direction if I can get a wiring harness thats correct or have to rebuild the current one Need Help<br>
The motor is diesel CS112 3.5 cly

I have an injector pomp on a tractor made by shibaura that looks like one on some fords /any way I took apart the injectors and cleaned them the tractor was parked for 2 years it ran when parked the pump after removing the tubes going to injectors only 2 outlets of four produce fuel I was there are two dipsticks on pump one has dirty fluid the other is empty is it fuel or hydrolic fluid/ could it have lost its prime or should I tear it apart and look for o rings or seals to replace. thank you very much for help.
