A White Field Boss FB31 is a far as I can tell exactly the same tractor except you have a 4 speed pto and I think a little bit differnt setup for the transmission(ie H-M-L & H-L). So far the few parts I have needed are available from AGCO. I found a service and parts manual for an FB31 and everything has fit. Have had real good luck with mine.

Interesting enough I just brought mine back from the dealer. I had a seal out in axle stub and a bearing and a broken gear tooth. The bearing cage failed, allowing the balls to all work around toward one side, wearing the seal, the shaft and shifting the gear alignment. This was on the left, rebuilt the right about 5 years ago. Now both sides have been sleeved where the seal has worn the shaft. Yes the gear faces can and should be shimmed for proper tooth alignment/engagement; if not the tooth faces will not mesh properly and can result in worn or snapped teeth. We used to use lamp black and orange die on the gears to check interfaces. Each cast hub is a little different and each finished casting ends up bored just a little different too. I see you’ve been doing them yourself, check with a JD mechanic and see if he’ll show you how to use the shim sets to adjust gear engagement. I probably did mine in last season with the backhoe, might say I was a little rough on it. But it’s still a good tractor with lots of life to go……

Did you get a wiring diagram. My wife burnt up my alternator and wires and now I am trying to hook up a Delco alternator and need to know exactly what all the wires are. I replaced the ones from the starter back to the main junction and then down to the alternator because due to a fuel leak this is why they melted.

My manual says the hydraulic system, trans, rear axle, frnt FWD axle, and power steering ALL take NH 134 hydraulic oil.

If I understand correctly the L3240 has a high and low range with a low, medium, and high range within each of those ranges. To me that adds up to six different ranges with infinite ranges within each of thos ranges. Is that correct?

i have a question, i have a 283 brazil ('73 or'77) and recently, the brake power has diminished on the left wheel and now, whenever i am pulling or blading the road, once it gets a load, it tends to go into neutral even though its in gear...you let off some gas and it will start moving again...the clutch can be pressed a quarter of an inch and it will engage...why is it doing this and how can i fix the problem without having to take it to a dealership? thank you for your time....:)

Not sure about wiring but it looks correct.I did have to replace the battery just before this started and did have a battery charger on to start it.
I tried some thing today, had it running and turned off the key , it sounds different not the same burping sound. I still wonder if a valve could stick open once in a while?

The first thing to check fuel wise is the glass bowl under the fuel tank ,turn the fuel tap of that is screw it in ,then remove the glass bowl and clean it out ,if you look up inside where the bowl fits you will see a fine brass gauze filter remove the rubber seal and the filter clean it all out in petrol and turn the fuel tap on to make sure there is no fuel blockage ,let it run with the valve fully open for say twenty seconds this will prove that the tank is not blocked ,if no fuel comes out drain the tank and carefully unscrew the fuel tap assembly and clean it out sometimes they become partially blocked use a piece of fine fence wire and cleanout all the holes,blow through just to clean it out and make sure the tank is clean inside after all this put back together and look at the carburetor you will see a small tee handle tap on the bottom of the carburetor ,with the fuel tap fully open and fuel in the tank you should get a healthy flow of fuel coming out of the drain valve if not CAREFULLY loosen the pipe that goes onto the carburetor and make sure you have a good supply of fuel to that point ,ok fuel to that point remove the carburetor bowl CAREFULLY and check for a blockage in there handle it all very gently you dont want to damage any thing in there,dont touch or bend the brass float as this controls the fuel level put it back together and give it a try.

My 3 point hitch will not lift all the way up. Not quite halfway. I read other blog to check change fluid and change fluid filter. I changed fluid and problem still there. I can not find filter. Can anyone help with these issues?

I think this has sat here for so long with no reply due to there is no simple answer. To me a tractor purchase is not the same as an auto purchase, it is a longer term purchase and one that normally requires other purchases for it's use. Many of those items need to come from the brand of dealership of the tractor such as some parts and even filters. Implements may need to be brand specific for such as front end loaders but still normally any implement unless used is bought from a dealership.

My suggestion is to not worry about the best lowest price I can get the tractor for today unless that is your only concern and if so then go on line and ask for their price but met with the dealerships that are a reasonable drive of you and find the one you believe cares about their customer and who wants you to be as pleased as they are. You will know them. They will find out what your needs are, will listen to you and make recommendations based upon your wants and needs. You will find they are stocked with parts to a reasonable level and have a good service department.
