Correct, but the terms you (and the Mounties) will be using are GVWR and 'Tare' (often called 'curb') weight.

If, for example, a typical 3500 series one ton truck has a GVWR of 11,000 pounds and has a tare weight of 8,000 pounds, it can legally carry 3,000 pounds.

You will also need to have the truck licensed for 11,000 pounds to do this though.

I would seriously urge you though to look at using a trailer rather than a load on a truck. Getting the balance between front and rear axles right (to keep you legal) can be a real PITA and a truck that loaded handles a big bunch different than you're used to.

As a rule of thumb, we try to never put more than 75% of what a truck is rated for on it, so as to keep things safe, comfortable and reduce the 'seat of pants pucker factor' when some idiot cuts you off or some such thing happens.

Thanks, I will check for restricted air flow, may try doing a compression test if I can figure out how to attach a gauge.
I'm working on several projects, so the kubota won't get done immediately. Getting a track loader fixed and clearing land for 300 apple trees is the most important project at the moment.

i have never heard of such a thing... not sure how the starter could turn the engine over backwards. its just a hot wire from the solenoid to the starter. couldnt see that happening but your right that would explain the symptom haha

Hi Everyone! I'm new to Tractor Point and hope someone here can help. My father has a JD 950 he bought new in '79 well, he decided to tie his horse up to it while he went inside the house. When he came back out the horse was chewing on the wires next to the alternator and pulled them out. His repair manual has everything but a wiring diagram and I don't want to burn it up rewiring it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br>

Hey folks...New to this site and am looking for some info. All of a sudden my Gator 4x2 would not shut off using the ignition switch. Also lost my headlights at the same time. I have to choke it to kill the engine. Starts fine. So I did the logical thing and replaced the switch. Same deal. I did find a small relay looking deal on near the coil. I can remove the black wire and it kills the engine and I cant start it either. I replace the wire and I go back to where I was. This is an older Gator and has served me well except for having to weld the frame back together. LOL!!! I can't find any fused for the headlights so just looking for suggestions. Thanks everyone and if you have any Telephony questions I might be able to help. Retired from Verizon in 2003 at 48 years old so I might be a little behind on today's technology but who knows. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It is not a P21. Look for an engine model. May be cast in the block.

I have issues when I attach my top link to my Massey Ferguson 150 Tractor. The hydraulic only comes up 12 inch's when attached to a roll bail. However, if I attach a chain to the rear end and remove the third link from the tractor the system lifts to its max

Well what an dumb answer (mind): I like my Volvo the most of any then it is the only brand I have had. Now my friend with the model below mine has nothing but trouble with his. Now one of his biggest problems is mechanice or lack of willing to use a qualfied one. To me one of the best brands of any piece of anything is the brand that last the longest and works the best is the one you like the best for you will work to prove it is the best and that means service it and take care of it for you "like it". If you don't like it anything bugs you and you will find it easy to skip on service for it is nothing but a problem. Now that said all are not the same quality.

OK evidently the crank case oil lubes the injector pump,..and I have an extra oil cap location depending on my mood as to which one I use I suppose,..

BUT,..now that I have it running and I did a little pushing horse crap with it,..it doesnt like to steer with a load in the bucket,..so my questions now steer (no pun intended) towards the power steering,..is there a screen? or seperate filter for the power sterring?? ,..the casse or cast iron housing says "Toyoda" on the left side

I had the rear up on jackstands and everything rolls smoothly with out anynoises. The noise is coming from the secondary clutch - the big one attached to the transaxle. It seems like the outermost metal disc is slightly bent. It you rotate it slowly and hold a screwdriver really close it will leave a mark on one small are and not the rest. At low RPM not a big deal, but when you increase RPM's it sounds like hell. The plastic clutch buttons are in tact and I just replaced the belt, so it must be the metal discs that the belt rides up and down on.

I just went thru the same thing on my HPX. I pulled the carb off and sprayed it several time with carb cleaner and use my compressor to blow everything out - gently! Then it took some time playing around with the idle set screw to get it dialed in. Too much idle and it will be difficult to get into gear, too little and it stalls/bogs.

I get the same thing on my HPX from time to time - it seems like it is the shock mount or ball joints in the front end. It happens in 2WD and 4WD.

My 420 is also a hard starter in cold weather. I pull back/out the compression release and let it spin up for about 2 seconds and then push it in and it usually starts right up.

Gravity alone causes wheel weights to compress sidewalls. Hydraulic pressure alone (from liquid ballast) supports sidewalls from the inside. But adding wheel weights to ballasted turf tires may negate that support. Another thing; once the RimGuard seller tops up your tires equally, they should finish by adding air to bring up the combined pressure to that specified in your manual.
