Well, the only other thing you moved were the two wires going in and the plug wire. I guess you could try the bad coil on the front cylinder, if it doesn't fire on the front one, I think you are pretty safe saying it's bad.

Hello again all. I am installing a power bed lift this weekend on my gator. I bought a linear actuator for 100 bucks and just need to fab up some brackets. The lower one is easy, but does anybody have a picture on how the upper bracket looks? I can't decide what angle to mount this thing at. Also, I am making mine a power tailgate drop. That way, I don't need to get out of the seat to drop the tailgate. Thanks in advance.

It might be running for 2 mins or 20 mins and the starter will engage. The only thing I can think of is a wire chafed and getting energized somehow. <br>
Anyone have any thoughts?

Connect the lower lift arms first, finish with the toplink. Sounds like you could use a set of Pat's Easy Hitches. They pin to your lower lift arms, but are open at the top (like a hook). You back them under the implement lift pins, then just raise up the lift arms to hook up. Then pin the toplink, and you're done.

This will be my first ever NEW tractor. I own a ford 3000 Diesel, 8N, and a MF backhoe currently. My father in law has 140, super A that we all use interchangeably. Gotta love the old 140's.

My newest tractor is the ford 3000 (late 60's model) no PowerSteering (PS). Never had a PS on a tractor before.

The wife, father in law and I are beginning a upick farm, in central NC (near Raleigh). The farm had been used for tobacco for years. We decided to make this drastic change to the orchard last year. With the bulk of the trees/vines and bushes being planted this year.

I really like the 3000 it is a strong pulling tractor. I am hoping the dk40 can handle its implements ok. From what I hear I can take 10hp off the tractor by adding 4wd. I really wanted a powerful tractor that is small enough to fit in between the rows of grapes that I have.

I won't get rid of the 3000 just yet, but hope to sell it at some point.

Hello again. Just wanted to post my findings. I put a new fuel pump on, but that did not fix my problem. Remembering that 9 out of 10 idling issues are carb related, I pulled the carb off again. It's a fixed jet carb, so with the exception of the main jet and one other, you can't remove any others to clean. I brought it into work and stuck it in our ultrasonic cleaner at 140 degrees for about 3 hours. I blew it out the best I could and put it on when I got home. INSTANTLY the problem was gone. The gator just purred and ran beautiful.

If your steering is affected too, it could be the pump. Sounds more like the loader control valves thouth. It also wouldn't hurt to remove/disassemble/clean/replace the priority valve. In some circles it's called the diverter valve. In any case, it should be just a little ways in front and to the left of the brake pedals.<br>

Stones here are very few but roots are not. Just for that reason don't think would recommend standing near a hole with auger running and there is loose clothing and buried wires and pipes and old trash pits.

One point about replacing the GPs. Each has a tiny little copper sealing washer. I hope you accounted for all three old rings before you installed the new GPs and new sealing rings. Cuz the old ones sometimes don't want to come out with their GPs

I don't think the quote is out of line but confirm that it includes mounting. You could ask them to throw in liquid ballast for the rears, as well as delivery and switch-over.<br>

If you do snow work, getting chains for them would be easier than switching back and give better traction.

$Naw, this is definitely a John Deere problem. My new 3720 did the same thing with only 3 hours on it. And I didn't even have anything heavy on the TPH; just a 7' landscape rake. I was raking gravel on my barn drive, and all of a sudden the damned hitch started pulsing. Jumped about an inch every 1-2 seconds. It quit if I pushed the lift lever all the way forward, but of course that's the open center position. Soon as I pulled the lever back even a fraction, the rake started jumping again. FEL worked fine, problem was only with the TPH. Shouldn't have overheated fluid for such light work, but I shut the tractor down anyway. Came back again in 30 minutes, problem had gone away. I did eventually discover that the tractor was delivered to me 6 quarts low on HyGard (LoVis). I topped it up, problem hasn't happened again - so I'm wondering if there wasn't perhaps an air bubble in the rear lift circuit that caused the position control to go nuts..... I couldn't re-create the issue - which as you all pretty well know - means they reflexively blame the owner/operator. //greg//$ John Deere 4500 3 point bouncing up and down

Usually smoke under a load means blow by, caused by bad rings and worn cylinders. You probably have both as well as bad clutches. If the clutches don't back shift into a lower gear when you go up a hill, it puts a strain on the motor. More weight or steeper hill, more strain. I believe a diesel motor in a 4x2 would be a monumental job, although I think someone on here did a small arrow board single cylinder air cooled diesel in something awhile back.

Purchasing this backhoe has been a learning experience for me. I had no idea who to even approach about selling any of the parts to then fortunately for me the heavy equipment operator I contracted with to haul it to the scrap yard is in need of a backhoe bucket for his loader. He also suggested I try selling the canopy, cylingers and detachable front end loader bucket before scraping it. I think I'm gonna try to sell at least some of it before I scrap it now. I've just got to find somewhere to move it soon. That was the need for the quick sell, no place to store it. Thanks for your reply.
