No, the only way to keep it from stalling is backing off the foot pedal quickly or that is whn it stalls. I still have not put new filters in yet as i haven't had time and also it has been to cold out to tinker with it. Soon I hope!

Someone here on nthe board bought a reverse tine tiller last spring. I've wondered how it worked out. I almost bought one a few years ago but ened up buying a conventional front rotating machine.<br>

I never knew tillers came with more than one speed other than walk behinds that had different drive wheel sppeds.

You should have a strainer that needs to be cleaned. This is a picture on a 1401. Yours may be similiar. Should be behind a 3 bolt flange down low on the transmission.

Check the black and white wire coming out of one of the two 4 prong plugs by the main harness from the motor. It needs to be grounded securely to the motor. Also check the 4 prong plug for corrosion.

Remove the idle and main mixture adjusting screws. <br>

The idle screw is knurled and smaller in size with a pointed tip. Install it in the left hand screw hole. Screw it in lightly until it bottoms out and then unscrew it 1 1/2 turns.<br>

The main screw should be the one with the larger screw head and have a blunt tip. It goes in the right hand screw hole. Screw it in lightly until it bottoms out and then unscrew it 1 1/2 turns.<br>

When you rebuilt the carb did you replace the o-rings behind the mixture adjusting screws? If they are worn or cracked the engine will draw air in through them and run lean.<br>
<br>
The engine should start and run if all else is good. Warm it up and perform the final idle and main mixture adjustments.<br>

I have a 05 1040 cub cadet with 250 hrs. on it and it still runs like new,I take good care of it maintance .The only thing I have done is put a new drive belt on and had the carb. serviced. I use my leaf blower to blow the dirt off the deck and motor and entire mower then I wipe it down and cover it up in my shop.I also have a 08 1050 with 100 on it and the both look like new. BUT with that said you need to buy them from a cub cadet dealer .I bought mine at home depot but found out later to go to a dealer and you pbs. will be take care of.I have 3.5 acres of yard to mowe.

There is a screen in the unit inside the tank. When you lower the bed it is basically free wheeling and the weight of the bed dictates how fast it goes down. This is done so you can pick it up manually if it or the battery fails.

Oh, BTW, I contacted the company that advertises selling blem tracks. They say that some of them are truly factory seconds and others are ones they sold to someone who tried to put them on and they didn't fit or returned them because they ordered the wrong ones. If they got marked up or dirty they sell them as seconds. I don't know how much discount they give on them since they didn't have any for my machine anyway.

Just tested the glow plugs ( 2 was all I could get to ). I used a DC tester that has a bulb in it & the bulb lit up. If I was to use a meter I would need some help---but if ya think I need to meter test it I will.
And yes KT---have indicator light when warming & it does work.
Next question---Do Glow plugs go bad very often? Is it a common thing---someone told me they cost bout $40.00 so it is not like changin out spark plugs---

Hello Ed,

I just rebuilt at Shibaura SE4040 with the same engine from the ground up -- transmission, 4-wheel, engine, hydraulics, electric, tires, paint. I found an abandoned tractor here in Ecuador that I scavenged for parts... It seems like a great machine for my needs (intensive agriculture) and what I have invested in it (now about USD 8,500). What has been your experience with the SD4043? Do you have any advice to share? Would you be willing to share a copy of that English language manual of yours?
