Try if starter works.Take the battery and cables.Put the - on tractor,and put the + to the screw on starter where there is L shaped copper conductor( BUT for really SHORT time a second max) .If it spins the starter is fine.Check the starter relays.Battery - , normaly goes from acc, to main switch and trough switch to treactor metall panel. If that's fine the problem could be in relays,If the tractor is older in relays are basic electronical parts...Good luck!

I recently purchased a Stiger SD2243 that runs great and seems to have plenty of power for my gardening tasks, However I am having problems figuring out the functionality of the potentiometer knobs that control the hydraulics. If I could only understand Japanese. If anyone has been able to get the functions translated and would like to share the info with me, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a SL 1603 starts hard have checked glow plugs seem to be heating up Ok any suggestions. Also where is data plate located with serial number?? How can I tell if this is a remanufactured machine it says 43 hours on meter and looks fairly new. I cant find any data on machine. Anyone that can help I would appreciate. Thanks Pete

It is probably right near the clutch as it is forward of the gear shifts. It took way more than several pumps. Do I need to go in and clean all the extra grease out? And how bad could it have messed things up? It has not been run sinced it was greased.

Damn! I suspect that the whole problem could go away if I could just grease the clutch release bearing, but I'm having a miserable time just finding the grease nipple. Got the cover plate off (of course the front loader is very much in the way). Is that some kind of a cover plate I see? does that pull right out? I don't have a pair of pliers that will fit inside the port. Help! It shouldn't take 2 and a half hours just to service a grease nipple.

Thanks for the reply. Took a while to get back as my computer also went out. I recently replaced the carb and also the fuel pump, before I saw your reply. It is running a bit better, some days it will run just fine and others it will not let you go 6 feet before losing all power and sounds like it is getting too much gas or not enough. Will I have to bring it in to the dealer if it is an electrical issue? I can constantly smell gas when it is running. I appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks for much for the 4 steps for trouble shooting. I think I will try them with # 4 first, and get the battery charged up by running the cubby off my car's battery, and letting it run (without the PTO and blades running).

The other 3 steps I have tried, but without getting the reasoning behind them so that your explanations are great!!!!

I have been able to find a diagram already to show the clutch alignment and spacing and how to adjust it. This is is going to be fun!

Something we've been doing for a couple years that seems to work.
If you don't mind the smell of Maragolds, we been planting some in and around the garden for a couple years and the deer haven't bothered it, before that it was like "free lunch".
A neighbor lady who is quite a gardener told us about it and it does seem to work.

If your lawn is parse with sandy patches you might want to return that mower to Lowes as a side discharge would be a better choice under those conditions.<br>
