After buying my first John Deere (1983 JD 310B backhoe) I am learning JD kind of keeps in all in the family when it comes to manuals, parts, etc.<br>

Is there next to nothing after market for older John Deere equipment? Do some some dealers offer online parts or do you have to deal with a local dealer?<br>
<br>
I registered on the JD site and they permitted me to select one dealer.<br>
<br>
I kind of got spoiled getting most of my stuff online for the 1976 265 Massey Ferguson. Getting into a dealership is a pain for me. <br>

The DK 40 se are very nice tractors with a lot of nice standard features.<br>
Push button 4 wheel drive, hydraulic rear remotes, independant PTO, draft control, extendable lower link arms on the 3 point hitch, a lever to control the 3 point from the back of the tractor to make hooking up implements easier, the Kioti loaders on the DK models come standard with a skid steer style quick attach bucket. Etc.<br>
Good dealer service or not depends on your local dealer just like any other brand.<br>
I have a 2001 Kioti DK 35 with 1400 hours.Excellant tractor. Very reliable,no problems at all. <br>
I own both John Deere and a Kioti tractor. Parts for my Kioti are as easy to get as they are for my JD. I call the dealer, order the parts and they are mailed to my door. No differance.

Finally started using the Land Pride RTR0542 tiller (42") REVERSE ROTATION, this week. The land hasn't been worked for 26 years. It is pasture, rocky and clay soil. This tiller worked a miracle. Using patience, 4 passes (waited a day or so in between, with a nice drying wind, turned this garbage into 10-12" of wonderful seedbed. It chops and buries the sod, grass and all but the largest rocks. Sumac roots are gone also. Money well invested in this unit. Matched with my Kubota BX 2360, it was a fun time. Pictures will be emailed on request. Thanks to all who recommended this implement.

You need to jack up the side you want to adjust. With the park brake set, turn the rear wheel forward against the transaxle resistance. The amount of slackness (sag) should be 8 - 25 mm (0.3 - 1.0 inches). To adjust,you need to loosen the rear axle housing bolts and move the axle housing. There is an adjustment bolt sticking out the back of the machine.
The axle housing bolts should be tightened to 66-90 lb/ft.

1. I've got one. But it's only rated for 1000 lb. Harbor Freight sells them.

2. Engine speed nope. You would have to have such low RPM the engine would stall. Even if you could, you lose pressure as speed reduces.

3. HF sells complete 10 ton porta power sets with hand operated pump for less than 200 US. And they offer many accessories like shorty 10 ton cylinders, rebar cutter, pullback cylinders, etc. I have all of them.

Kevin, thanks for the reply.... I have had the same thought! Why don't we pull one of their own tricks on them!! We can do a tear down of their existing machine, (Chinese reverse engineering), measure, capture in cad data,and address all the hundreds of concerns that have been brought up in these forums. Should'nt be difficult to manufacture as it is a very simple machine. As you said, most concerns boil down to a few areas where they skimped on component quality, or didn't maintain decent tolerances during manufacture & assembly. I've been doing Automotive Lean Manufacturing for 20+ years and have access to some great fabricator shops with underutilized CNC machines that could really use a good contract just about now.... I can set up really tight processes with iron clad QA controls... and I know about 5,000 team members who would love some weekend work. They all have decades of experience in QC, procurement, stamping, die maintenance, weld shop, paint, final assembly. Heck,,,some of them have small fab shops at their homes they built when we still had an economy for middle class Americans. :(
If you can round up some investors for oh...say...a couple of million in $USD I can handle the rest.
We can put Jinma right out of this market by matching their price mark,but with bullet-proof quality.
Hey, creating American jobs, beating the Commies at their own game...and you and I get wealthy to pay ever higher taxes!!! Sounds like a win win American success story!!

I wasn't clear between what I heard and assumed. A single radio news piece the previous day said Deere was reducing production to lower its inventory (no mention of what lines or country), and was causing shortages. The statement that this would raise prices was just my assumption. Searched unsuccessfully for more info.

Maybe botas have a center diff or viscous coupling to compensate?

I know when my blue got a low rear tire (before I got fixed) and I drove it on pavement I could hear the engine lug so I would pull off the road and let it slip then continue.

Another source for tractors in many states is their Dept of Agriculture. Many have a listing for farmers to sell their own equipment.

My concern there is the size machine you are looking for is probably seldom there. In today's economy think such as the suggestions already given probably will find your best buy.

Possibly I missed this but rigs like you want are big scams. Often see them on ebay and Craig's list. Easy to tell, just ask where it is (first they will want to know where you are so it can be hundreds of miles from you) to see it. If you just happen to be go their or have a friend of such who lives there it will move or be crated up for shipping where it can not be seen. Don't be scared to look at dealerships either.
