ART thanks for the comment,iam looking at a 5105m not a 5101m i posted that wrong.i was wondering if anyone else had problems with the 5603's.yes i have drove the 5105m and it is alot more tractor and a different class of tractor than the 5603.I dont think i will be disapointed with the5105m.the dealership is helping me out alot withthis trade.I have compared prices at other dealers and my dealer is cutting his price a great amount.tanks,JDMAN1

thinking about a 5101m any comments welcome

I guess what I'd do is to make sure the battery cables and battery are rock solid and make sure all grounds are wire brushed clean and tight. If it still wouldn't crank then I'd try a set of jumper cables to a running vehicle and use a starter button to the solenoid to bypass the wiring. If it still wouldn't crank pull the starter and have it tested. If that doesn't work then the engine may be seized. Hope it doesn't get that far.

Presuming you don't need 4WD for cutting grass, it really doesn't matter what size front tires (or rears for that matter) you run.

You just can't use 4WD until you get back to the correct ratio between fronts and backs.

No Greg I have not taken the pump off yet. was searching for a filter, this tractor eveidently does not have one. Where will I find the screen, I have not cleaned it. Lastly I have no place to buy parts here, sounds like you know what your talking about, where would I be able to buy a pump if I needed one, any direction would be appreciated. The only thing the pump works is the tiller lift, no quick disconnects.<br>

A power beyond circut simply takes the fluid supply that normaly operates the three point hitch arms and runs it thru the backhoe circut which has it's own pressure relief valve. When the backhoe is off the tractor the power beyond hoses are plugged back together. The fluid still goes thru them but now the fluid going thru them operates the three point arms, then the pressure relief valve is in the three point. The power beyond as it comes from Deere lets you have either the three point arms or the backhoe but not at the same time. If the power beyond hoses are not connected back together with the backhoe off the tractor you are dead heading the pump without a relief valve, the pump goes kabang, you need a new pump.
I have the third valve on my 4310 to operate a clam bucket on the loader when I use that bucket, other wise it would be the ideal way to power a top link. The outlets are on the rear of the right fender and the control lever is on the front of the right fender, about as handy as they can get.

Ok, so I may have to take the plastic cover/gaurd off of the pedal assembly to be able to adjust the equalizer and thumb screws. Also, my hydraulic reservoir was ok, the bolt at the bottom kept coming loose and letting fluid slosh out from around the main upper o-ring. Put a little aluminum thread lock on it and no more leaking. I am assuming the fluid was causing the bolt to loose its grip. I will give the brake adjustment a try, I may have more questions. Again, thanks for all your help.

What make is it. How they usualy keep the fluid cool is through the tank. The bigger the tank the cooler the fluid will stay. You could also possibly put a heat exchanger on the the return side if you can find a high pressure one or on the suction side for low pressure.

Anyone know of the fix for no steering on a 1994 LB1914 4x4 the steering wheel free spins and the front wheels barely turn and then when you do get them to turn they will return to the nuetral position. JT

I think you have two problems. A partially clogged jet and a malfunctioning governor. Take the carb apart and soak it in carb cleaner for a while then use compressed air or a can of cleaner and blow through all the orifices and needles backwards of normal operation. That should get it all cleaned out. As for the governor that is a little more involved. Try cleaning and see how it runs the governor problem may be to little to care about if the machine is running correctly.

Have you checked hydraulic fluid levels? If the level is low, then you may have a bad hydraulic pump seal. The hydraulic lift valve on that tractor is a close center valve. If the 3pt lift bottoms out too many times, enough back pressure can cause the seal to blow.

Check your hydraulic fluid levels first. If you don't have a dipstick attached to your filler cap then check the side
of the transmission housing(right side sitting on tractor)
there will be a check plug midway down the side case.
