I might have gotten some wet snow in the switch? Seems that everything is working now that it dried out...

I don't know about other states, but no dipoloma, so to speak is required in Iowa to be a mechanic.
Most major dealerships do like someone who has gone to the tech school of their brand but if the reputation of the mechanic is good I doubt they would let a good one get away.
There are probably other lines of work that should be more regulated. I think you can start a church without being a minister or be a finanxcial advisor with no formal training, and lots of other things too.

when I called the owner Monday afternoon to close the
deal he told me he had been served with divorce papers that morning and could not sell the tractor. So my

my main reason is excellent payload capacity and large cargo box as well for firewood and yardwork. but i do like to spend some time out on the trails. like you said we all buy different things for different reasons and i think of gator more then a farm tractor they are very hardy tuff and well built.

Sorry if I mis-stated that operation. You are right. You can crank engine if shifter and pto are in neutral. The seat switch only will cause voltage to fuel solenoid to be interrupted if you leave the seat while in gear or pto is running. So, the neutral switch and pto switch works two ways. They can prevent cranking and also they can shut off fuel solenoid.

I look at the same way as lottery tickets, my chances are really pretty slim, but you always hear about [u]somebody's[/u] number coming up.

This may be in that thread, but my dealer showed me a book for resale and trade-in prices that stated 600 hours per year is the norm. 2000 hrs would be less than 4 years by that figure.

thanks for the ideas - i filled the intake hose from the pump end and that got it going again - didn't realize the intake has a one way flow valve
I am trying to see what soil conditions are at bottom of pond so i might be able to patch area where it leachs into lower pond and make it deeper to possibly irrigate fields - any thoughts if it could hold fish?

I am buying the L 4400, I looked at/demo'd her today. She has a Bush Hog brand M300 Front Lift assembly. It's Modified with a Skid Steer Quick Attach mechanism to easily drop the Bucket, and Pick Up/Latch the Gnarly looking Root Fork Assembly that comes with her. She also has the Rear Hydraulic Quick Couplers/Lever which drives a Post Pounder that comes with her as well. I suspect the Root Fork and Post Pounder will get polished 1st.<br>

I'll just have to deal with the too Narrow Box Blade for awhile, I have 13+ Hilly Acreage to Fench 1st. Being totally new to all this, I suspect that will keep me occupied for a long time.<br>

Assuming you're new to tractors, let me comment. There's all sorts of attachments for the rear hitch, and (in the same size category) they all fit and attach/detach in a minute.

One exception is the front loader. It's highly useful but costly, usually stays on, and should be chosen and installed professionally.

The other is the hoe. It's heavy to wrestle on and off, and when on prevents the use of other attachments. It's costlier than the loader, and bigger ones can make it hard to use the tractor for other things. So calculate how many hours of hoeing you'll ever do, and how many hours you could rent a dedicated hoe or hire someone to use his -- for the cost of your buying (and having to store, maintain, and some day sell) it.

Or find out if a factory subframe and hoe combo is available for your model, put the word out that you're in the market for a used one, and wait.

It is a good and popular model with excellent parts support considering it's grey-market. Various owners can tell you what loaders fit, but you might be better off getting a tractor with a loader already on.

Frosty, I would think you could find a used lift kit for an outboard. They also has an electic set up for opening a gate. No idea who they would compare. You also might find a pump kit for hyd dump trailer. Boy that might be an over kill.,

I suspect what you are getting is not water freezing, but the hydraulic fluid is thick enough that cold weather is causing enough extra pressure to cause the pressure relief valve to open.

If that happens there is no hyd. pressure to the steering rack. Sort of like trying to turn the wheel before starting the engine.

What weight hydraulic oil are you running?

I'm almost learning how to spell in Canadian now, Like Ploughs, Catalogues, Beer, oh I guess they spell that the same as us. I wasn'r sure for a while if he was Murf or Smurf, you know like "Papa Smurf", but he's pretty sharp anyway.

I just read your post again, you said you were getting fuel TO the carb, but are the plugs wet after you turn it over? If the plugs aren't wet there is a fuel shut off solenoid under the carb bowl that may be unplugged or not working. If they are wet, you need a module.
