Mine was the "Freedom Top", take a peek at a couple of the Jeep boards and you will see how widespread an issue this is. The ragtops leaked too but I never used mine, it came with the vehicle and was still in the factory wrap when I turned it all in. They came out with some foam pieces to fix the soft top leaks, a real Rube Goldberg affair, but apparently it worked as a patch.

I'd see to that key. Maybe you can remove and work on it, maybe you can just get a low-cost replacement.

Then I'd focus on the weak or intermittent spark. Bad plug? connections? wiring? distributor? An auto-electric shop might be able to troubleshoot.

I'm not familiar with your machine, but I just started taking mine apart without any testing. On mine the same casting that held the lift arm assembly was also thetrans./axle cover (which is under the seat) had to be removed to get to the pump. And it while it was off, since the piston is inside that same casting, I serviced it while it was out (pretty sure I had to install a new piston that was made for an O-ring.

My pump was a crude "wobble-piston type". It was 65 years old and not rebuildable. I found a used one for $250 from the dealer in their old parts bin (they wanted to extort $450 out of me but I wasn't having that!).

Look on the web for parts. Google something like "Ford 800 hydraulic pump rebuild kit piston $"

One thing about front hydraulic snow blowers: there is a BIG difference between pto driven, independent and self contained vs. using the tractors hydraulic system. CUTs seldom have high ehough flow GPM's or large enough reservoirs to provide adequate pressure. Also, if you have a loader some of them are quick attach in lieu of the bucket. A big drawback to these units is the price.

I came across TractorPoint and this particular question while searching for an answer for my slipping PTO on a 420AN. Like the questioner here, my PTO just started or rather stopped spinning under load with a mower.
In trying to see if I need to have the tractor hauled in to the shop I started looking on the internet-Voila-there you were.
Now, do you think I should even try to adjust the clutch- I will say that there WAS the odor of burnt something once I opened the cover over the clutch.
Is it a goner?

Did not mean to hijack the thread but it seemed very similar question.

Ok, I got the tranny out. I put it on my bench and split her in half. <br>

Gatoraider was spot on with his guess (educated I think) lol. The shift arm pin was broken off. All looks really good inside other than that.<br>

I think that is about a $30 part so I will get a new one and some new seals and put her back together.<br>

That's a bulletproof method. If you want power chute rotation you could probably rig up an electric linear actuator and get 90-110 degrees of rotation (guessing here). Dirt cheap on eBay.

Brake adjusting rods are on either side of the transaxle under and a little forward of the axle shafts coming out to the hubs. With the emergency brake off, remove the springs, holding the brake arms, from the side of the frame. With springs removed move the brake fork front to back and see how much play is in the system. You need to tighten the adjusting nuts ( one hut and one lock nut ) until there is around 1/8 to 1/4 inch play front to back. Play will be between the rod going thru the brake fork and the washer in front of the lock nuts and spacer. Check play by moving brake fork front to back. Try to make both sides the same so it will stop evenly. This adjusts the emergency brake also.

IT sounds like the valve is coming or has come apart internally. Get to your local dealer and ask them to give you a parts break down and a rebuilding kit for that spool.

i checked the return line took it all apart, and it still did the same thing, so i asked a friend to check it, and he took the fuel injection pump off, and noticed that it had a worn out bearing and the plastic seal which holds it was bridle and was breaking in small pieces which would get in the return line clogging it. I appreciate you all help, and i hope this will help somebody in the future. The rest of the fuel pump was in excellent condition, and he found no water damage inside thank god.

I had the exact same problem on my 2000 JD 4600. Replaced the switch underneath the seat about a year ago. Haven't had any problems since.This switch is a safety switch that detects weight on the seat.Your problem may be the switch or could be in the wiring harness. Good luck.

I don't *know* that there isn't something wrong but the mileage is pretty typical for this truck. Others are reporting the same numbers. That said, I was going to have the door weatherstripping replaced so I'll ask them about the mileage and show them the log.

One thing I do remember when it still had the break-in oil in it I checked the oil after running it hard for probably an hour and gas was mixing with the oil. The air filter was pretty dirty so I attributed it to that. It never smoked until this last go around and doesn't smoke very much but smells really rich.

Thanks for the followup. Too many times folks never return to these forums to detail the actual solution.

An "[i]injector hold-down bracket[/i]" is a new one on me. With mechanical injection, I can't quite feature that descriptive. In your case I believe that there are still only 8 (3 cylinder) or 10 (4 cylinder) actual headbolts. Perhaps the rocker arm bolts go through the cylinder head and into the block (?)

So what do machines like yours with a blown engine go for?

I have a feeling it could a grand or more just for parts regardless of who buys it. Even if the guy is handy will it be worth what he pays you for it PLUS parts? Hard to say.

For grins and giggles I'd stop by a 'botty dealer and ask them what you could get on a trader-in.

My gut says unless there is someone who r-e-a-l-l-y, r-e-a-l-l-y wants that tractor you possibly won't get more than a few hundred for it. But you never know.

I'd try listing it on Craigslist. I'm in Michigan and have sold machines and equipment off there to guys as far away as Mexico, New York, Iowa and Wisconsin. And the best part is it's FREE!

just wondering if someone knows of a reasonable deer feeder for my back yard. i use corn feed but hate that the birds and others eat it before the deer . we consider them like distant pets for the kids to see. i would like for one to feed like once in the morning and once at night.<br>
