I was able to locate the PTO interlock switch located under the driver's seat "skin"...had to take 6 small bolts to take the seat off cab,3 bolts on the wheel well, and popped off the PTO rubber grip...then I had a good visual view of the interlock switch...from years of driving with a "rubber socket" in the linkage, the linkage bent and would not engage the switch when the PTO lever is in the PTO disengaged position...merely had to poxy a 1/8" small washer on the linkage "paddle" so it comes into contact with the switch when PTO is in the "off" position...PTO lever works great now and tractor now starts...looking back at this fix, could of also cut the PTO lever slot so it is longer...took about 2 hours to remove/reinstall seat and panel, and glue washer...let dry overnight and worked fine next day...care should be used when using poxy glue since you can risk it gluing the linkage joint ridgit or interferring with smooth linkage operation if the glue goes where it shouldn't.

TC55DA PTO does not disengage and therefore tractor will not start

I may have to try some different fluid, I suppose. It is a pain because my nearest NH dealer is over an hour away.

Don't know why it was fine for 7 years and then started acting this way.

I'll try to get it figured out before winter.

We looked at alot of utility vehicles and decided on the Bobcat 2100 with an electric dump bed. I has a Kawasaki engine which is fine but the deciding factor for us, beside the lower price, was the all aluminum frame.

I am probably commenting after the fact but I just replaced my Kubota B7500 with a Kioti D45SE HST. Like you I looked at them all and tried as many as I could but I got the most for my money with the Kioti. They also had the longest and best warranty. I really like it. It is very comfortable, user friendly and plenty strong. I had an issue with the cruise control (misaligned magnet) after 25 hours but my dealer picked it up in the morning and had it back on my property by noon, no charge, warranty took care of everything. I'm real happy with the new rig which I use with a 6ft. bush hog for pasture mowing and with a 48in.BB for grading. The FEL gets constant use around our farm and also works easily with a good control location and a quick-disconnect 6ft. bucket. I would recommend this tractor without reservation. Remember though, your dealer is your best friend with equipment like this.

I've seen stranger things work

A number of years back an acquaintance of mine heard I could braid and splice ropes. He was determined that I would 'make' him a set of tire chains from nylon rope for his ATV for going out ice fishing. I laughed at the idea at first, but made them.

What a mistake! Soon I was flooded with requests for them for everything from cars to tractors. They work, but wear quickly. I assume the rubber ones are the same.

If your bucket's cutting edge has holes in it, use the center hole to attach a chain either by inserting the hook (if it is an open type) or an eyebolt or simply bolt the chain to the bucket. I wouldn't on yours (but have on mine) dropped a Grade 8 bolt stacked with washers into the 1/2" hole on my skid steer's bucket an used it as traler hitch ball to move tralers around the yard (my trailers have a lot of tongue weight so there is no worry about them coming off).

In a pinch I've tilted my bucket back and hooked the chain onto the cutting edge--the only worry there is if you a have the bucket raised and you have not a lot of machine weight, if the chain slips to one side or the other you WILL flip the machine--got the T-shirt and a missing chunk of the seat cushion. LOL If you're ever in a situation where you feel you're ready to overturn--just drop the loader arms as fast as you can to counteract the momentum and center of gravity.

Another option is use the 3-pt hitch to pick up that cover.

Your profile suggests that your tractor is no newer than 2003. It's a bit hard for me to comprehend that you haven't changed an oil filter in six years. Nevertheless, I get my replacement spin-ons from NAPA. This list oughta help:<br>

As far as the steering boot, just get a regular off-road shock absorber boot. The Rancho brand comes to mind. Install it from the wheel side.<br>

Perhaps Carter and Carter should of considered possible ramifications when they refused to acknowledge a customers concerns instead of telling them to drop dead. that's all... <br>

I didn't trash carter and carter. carter and carter trashed carter and carter by refusing to give a damn about a customers concerns. carter and carter isn't above reproach. they simply didn't provide customer service for the inferior tiller they sent me. I tried to handle the problem over the phone in a diplomatic fashion but they refused to reciprocate. <br>
the nerve of me to express dissatisfaction, I should of just loved the inferior tiller I received that came with ZERO customer service. I should of embraced the fact that I was mulct out of $1200.00 and I should keep my dissatisfaction to myself I suppose. nothing gets under my skin more than a business taking advantage of me as a patron then refusing to make it right. A barrage of excuses is not a warranty. PTO to long, PTO to short, have your wife sit on the tiller, you're not holding you're tongue right, its your soils fault,etc.....<br>
I'm no abecedarian in the tiller department, I've had 8 various PTO tillers and have never encountered a problem like I did with the CCM. there may be satisfied CCM owners out there and that's good, But I was not among them and I am sharing that encounter. I will not deny that the tillers are constructed well but the fact that mine (by design) was limited to 2-1/2 maybe 3 inch's max on a good day of till depth is not satisfactory. every other tiller I've ever owned would give me at least 6 to 7 inch's of tilth to plant in. some folks may prefer 2-1/2 inchs of tilth to plant in but I did not. It is important for future customers of the CCM brand to know that I am not claiming that all CCM tillers have this problem, I am stating that mine did have a defect and a poor design that limited its performance to be less than satisfactory. that was brought to the distributors attention to no avail. some folks might get by with 2-1/2 inchs of tilth, I could not.

In that case it would be worth to try this. Remove the spindle. Likely just takes a wrench and maybe an Allen key.

Remove and clean all the innards, noting where the bearings and seals go. You might need a puller/press.

It's likely just one bad bearing race. You can tell when you see and feel it. Take or send it to a bearing shop, or there might be an ID number stamped on it, which along with the dimensions might suffice.

Get whatever replacements you need, grease thoroughly, and reassemble. If it's the same part in both, you might as well do the third too. You might end up with an effectively new mower for pocket (sorry, purse) change.

It would be reasonable to wait until the end of the mowing season if you want.

The warmer the weather the faster roundup will work, but ten days will do it even in cooler weather.
If the area can be mowed before you spray it helps to get rid of the excess dead material when you are working the soil down.
I've reshaped several field waterways using this method after fighting the sod wads on the first one or two.

Crunch, I had a car that was in perfect mechanical shape that after a bit of running would back-fire and stop. Not a good thing on the highway. I trouble shooted everything but to no avail, then I thought the fuel tank may have something to do with the problem. So I removed it, drained it and put it back in place. I found small beetles and a 1 inch diameter washer in the tank. The problem never happened again...I figure that the washer would settle over the bottom mounted intake tube, stop the flow and once the suction disappeared it would shift off awaiting the next time to block the intake pipe. Who knows could be? What type of beatle likes gasoline?

Those instructions assume the stretchable (for lack of the proper word) head bolts. They're generally one-time use, and never get retorqued anyway. But unless Northern actually changes head bolts before selling their machines, that just sounds like they're trying to sell unnecessary headbolts.

Cuz as far as I know, the Chinese still use old-fashioned reusable steel headbolts. As such, they should be retorqued within 50 hours or so after the head is removed for any reason. It's the same principle that applies to wheel lug nuts. Your balance and rotate service order typically recommends retorquing after 25 miles.

I experienced a brief loss of power steering and forward drive after a long period of bush hogging. In my case the problem went away after a few moments, but I did notice that it seemed to occur mostly after very hard (almost to lock) turning. I have checked my hydro fluid level and it is fine. I am wondering if the problem is related to foaming of the hydro fluid, though that would not explain why your power has not come back.<br>

Please keep us posted to anything that you find out. I would like to learn as much about this as possible. I am happy with my Cub but I want to do everything I can to keep it working well for a long time to come.<br>

Charliek -Thanks for the response. However, mine came out of gear on its own and I did not accidently take it out. . The only question is did I have it all the way in(centered on the white mark)or just partially in? If it was all the way in then I have a problem and won't be going up any steep inclines until I understand if the tractor does slip out even when on the white mark. Years ago I was standing on a draw bar of a A John Deere and my 9 year old son was driving and while pulling a heavey load of corn uphill the damn thing came out of gear and started to roll back. Everything turned out ok but now I do have a lot of respect for tractors. Thanks John
