A local Kubota dealer has a 2001 Kubota L3010F. It is a 2001 with around 300 hundred hours, 2wd, shuttle shift.It is very clean and appears to be well maintained.The dealer is asking $6900.00. Is this a good price? Anybody have any <br>
comments about this model Kubota?<br>

Ken, while we do have less rain than you, probably a lot less, we still get about 30" of rain a year, bear in mind however, we also get about 60" of snow on top of that, all of which eventually melts of course.

There really isn't an erosion problem as long as the entire thing is done as a whole 'package'. The louvers disperse the water into a small area instead of a narrow single line of drops. It then lands in a gravel area that is immune to erosion compared to soil. The water then runs down through the gravel into drainage tile where it's carried of to a discharge point.

A lot of people (especially those in the rain shadow of the Great Lakes) find they actually have less erosion since the gutters discharge at surface and this method uses buried drainage tile to carry the water away.

First off, although you don't say so, I would guess that you are talking about using the 'bota M7040 that you list in your profile.

Based on that, the big problems you are going to have is that of traction and torsional forces.

Traction from the point of view that you are going to have a serious problem keeping a 4,600 pound tractor hooked up and pushing with a 10' blade full of snow on the front.

Torsional forces from the point that the FEL bucket mount is only a few feet wide, as is the entire FEL frame, and when you add 10' of blade to the front you've created a big lever. If you were to hit something, even a relatively 'little' something, you would very likely twist or 'rack' the entire FEL, assuming you didn't break something. This is not a big robust construction machine, but rather an agricultural machine.

On top of that you might have the more minor issue of whether a 67hp (gross at the crank, not at the wheels) will actually have enough grunt to push a 10' blade full of snow. We use 10', 12' & 16' box blades to push snow on full sized backhoe loaders with 100hp and in heavy snow even the 'little' 10' blade full of snow tests the machines power.

own Sabre lawn tracror did same thing, dealer said he could replace float on carb...but would be cheaper to put shut off valve in fuel line...did that about 6 years ago

Frank I had forgoten about those home made cracklins! Never made a sandwich from them, just ate them like a snack. Those sold in stores today are nothing like the ones my Mom made. As to the pie crust, I could see it as you described it. This past Sunday night "I" tried making bisquits with lard, tasted good but looked like a rookie made them.

Have not been to cut feeder off yet but the area around the pond was logged almost two years back. Bless those northern loggers (they were from way up North, North Carolina :) ) they fell many trees into the pond and then were to pull them out but believe it or not they had some to float to far in or tops break off or such. We were going to drag those out and without seeing them had couple of experienced fisherman say to leave them for cover for the fish. Could that wood also furnish nutrients, I am right sure so.

If it is a Curtis controller, the flash is a fault code, the description of what it is will be in the manual for the controller.

If you don't have one, all you need is the model number of the controller and you can download it as a PDF document from the Curtis website.

Frank, that 'green stuff' is chromated copper arsenate (CCA), as the name suggests, it contains a derivative of arsenic, this is what prevents rotting, it is toxic to the mould and such.

It's also why 'green wood' has been widely banned.

There's a local builder who uses a slightly different twist on 'poles' for buildings, he sets pieces of used concrete utility poles, they're formed under very high pressure, then uses steel collars to connect the wood column to the top of it.

The theory is there is never any wood in contact with the earth.

He apparently got the idea from an old idea of putting a piece of used railway tie in the bottom of a hole sideways, then setting the post on top. It acts both to spread the weight out, and to transfer creosote as a preservative.

I don't think he's been doing it much more than about 15 years or so but to date I've never heard of anyone having a problem with any of his work.

You have a lot more rubber in the industrial tire. They do weigh more per size over the ag tires and a lot of the extra rubber is in the side walls reducing the flex.

This helps the ag tire to fit the soil conditions better enhancing the traction. On the other side the skinnier bars spaced further apart do help dig in better then the industrial tires.

It is hard to get a traactor with the industrial tires to ride as well as turfs or ag tires. We are currently seeing some swing away from the industrail tires because of the rougher ride.

On the power end, I go along with Murf on the horsepower. They both run the same engine and max out at the same RPM so I'd say it would be tough to compare. Some times we do find a bigger difference with the torque although trying this on our dyno would be hard on this small of an engine.

You might find more power on the 3540 being used just to move it because of the extra weight although it might be hard to see or feel. It probably would not be that noticable with the extra shift on the hydro.

Excellent. Understand that the stops are there to prevent [u]you[/u] from raising the upper arms too high with the control lever. There are other things that can make that happen - if you don't take proper precautions. Two most common are carrying heavy implements down a bumpy road with the arms at max lift height. The bouncing load can force the lift arms too high - regardless of where you have the stops set. The other thing is an implement like a post hole digger, some operators have unwittingly exceeded max lift height while trying to get their auger out of a hole.

I have a bran new FE250D complete in a box. This has never been used and was produced in 04. It is complete less exhaust. It also includes a new fuel pump. I am willing to sell this one because I had two and I already put the other on my Gator.

I'm sure it would, but it would never give that perfectly clipped to pool-table flat look they demand.

We have one division that does nothing but get called in for extra support when golf courses are hosting big tournaments. It's not uncommon in those cases, especially when they're playing 'extended hours', early starts and late (sometimes under lights) finishes that we are asked to cut the greens [u]twice[/u] a day!

Even the fairways get treated specially, we have special attachments under the mower called "stripers" that do nothing but make that 'ball diamond' stripe pattern. It can even be turned on & off so you can get the pattern perfect.
