If anyone can tell me what my problem might be it will help. I know it is minor- I was cutting grass and all of a sudden the tractor quit rolling. I am thinking there is a pin in the transmission box that might have fallen out. Is this my problem and is it easy to fix. Please help.<br>

It is also used as a means to obtain 540 or 1000 rpm without racing the engine for low power demand items like sprayer pumps.

By setting the PTO to the fastest speed and then running the engine at a fast idle you will have 1000 rpm without having to go to WOT.

They also usually have one PTO speed that is geared to drive a trailer equipped with a drive axle. In applications like rugged terrain or rice paddies having driven trailer wheels makes a big difference.

My guess would be it's not coming from the blade area, it's coming from higher up but the hard top of the mower deck is bouncing the sound and so you think it's coming from there.

I'd say the sound is likely coming from either the tractor itself or the hardware that the deck hangs from.

Get a couple of bungee cords and use them to put tension on all the mounting brackets and linkages that move, just be careful to avoid belts and or shafts. If that stops the noise you now know where to start looking. Then remove the bungees one at a time till the noise comes back.

Further to Frank's comment, I once talked with a retired lighthouse keeper from British Columbia. Where did power come from? A diesel engine. How long does it run? All the time except for mainenance. Is it all original? As far as he knows. How old is it? It was there when he took the job -- a quarter-century ago.

Find a local shop that specializes in drive belts. If what you don't know is how the belt is threaded over the pulleys, take a photo of the top of the mower and bring it to a helpful tractor dealer. If what you don't know is the belt cross-section, bring the old one if you have it or press a piece of plasticine onto a pulley and bring that in. If you don't know what size belt to get, adjust the mower to the loosest (usually a length adjuster an idle pulley), get a length of around half-inch rope, thread it along the route, and measure the length.

[/QUOTE]Not true - at least for this tractor. There are varistors (sending units) between the gauges and ground. The OPSU is a diaphram type, the coolant sensor is a thermister, the tach sender is a magnetic pickup. But now that I think on it, I guess you may be right in the case of the hour meter. Don't think the AgraCat is externally triggered.<br>

This should also illustrate that none of these gauges share a common path to ground. So if all the gauges went out at the same time, the problem is on the + side. Hence my opening question about the fuse type.<br>

so I think you bought it from Tarheel since Corriher gave up the NH dealership long ago, they both had very few customer problems if you look at the number of tractors they sold,"anything Attachments.com" the old Corriher seems to have a good web site,,,,,FYI, I would like to know what happened to Tarheel?????????

Plumbing solder is acid core and you use an acid flux, it used to contain lead but not anymore. Electrical solder is rosin core and does not require a separate flux usually for small wire, 60/40 is the tin/lead ratio. Acid and copper not a good combination. I made soldered connections for those big flat battery connectors on battery fork trucks and chargers, using Kester flux core 60/40 core solder and rosin paste and a torch. With the big cable more flux and heat are important to avoid a cold joint. Older corvettes have the battery behind the driver�s seat, you could check with Chevy for replacement parts.

It is located behind the injector pump. There is a electrical plug an 3 (I think) wires going to it. You should be able to identify by a dull or sharp click when you turn the key on.

A company called Fasten-All which is all over the country xan supply those epoxy capusles. Also a company called Hilti offers their own epoxy system. In any event, be sure to plow out all the cement dust vefore using the epoxy. the better systems have a builtin system that blows out the dust.

What's popular here more or less on commercial jobs is the railings have a extended posts which can be field-cut. A diamond core bit (about 2-3" dia.) is used to drill through the concrete, and the core removed. The posts/arilings are set in postion and a soft, epoxy-like substance is poured around it to the level of the concrete. It leaves a clean look having no fasteners.

You could reverse engineer this by first placing an oversize sleeve made of thin wall PVC (so it doesn't show so much a ring of plastic). Then you could pour concrete, come back and install the railings. You could use the anchor mix Murf mentioned or whathave you. You could also use a paper tube--the PVC or the paper could be removed prior to pouring.

There is also a product called hydraulic cement. As the name implies as it cures it expands. Not sure if I'd use it to fill the core holes.

Hi Bigrock,

Yeah, it's unbelievable that there could be this type of failure at only 250 easy hours on my Cub 7305. As I said, I only mow a couple of acres and till a small garden. The tractor has never left my property, had never seen commercial action. I've babied it. MTD told me just today that there's nothing they will do for me. Dealer is quoting different labor prices every time the wind changes. They initially told me $1150 labor, $519 parts, total= $1669. This morning I went in and talked with the service manager. He then told me $1900. The rep at MTD said, "They want how much to do that? The parts are only $306.84 list!" acting as if their price was way out of line. Who to trust?

Was it a big job? I do have a FEL bucket, no under belly mower. Unemployed remodelor right now, can't afford that kind of money but acreage starting to look really bad as we speak.

Any of you thinking of buying a Cub Cadet 7305 take note: mine had a PTO clutch failure at only 250 hours. I talked to a service rep at MTD just today. He said that there's nothing they can do to help me, that it was probably due to exterior equipment problems i.e. my mower. Hogwash! This thing is a piece of garbage, although exremely expensive garbage! $18k down the drain.

From looking into this further and feedback from others, it appears that HPX/XUVs suffer from a right front shaft popping out if you drive in high gear, in 4x4. I jacked my Gator up, turned the front right wheel and heard what sounded like a loose cv joint flopping around in the front gearbox. Turned the wheel backwards, and gently lowered the front end, and the shaft appeared to mesh back again. Some of the post I have seen, suggest only engaging 4x4 in low gear. I've been doing this, and have not had any more 4x4 issues. Thanks again for you post.

You should be able to find a used one if you have the patience to keep looking.

Jeff, about the last 1" of the steel cable is brazed or silver soldered. I've seen more than that done, but it looses a lot of it's flexibility, at that point it acts more like a pivoting bush hog blade than a piece of line.

You need big horsepower (3+ hp) to run that type of line.

They seem to last about a season if you can keep from hitting rocks or other hard stuff. Wood and brush doesn't seem to bother them much, but the hard stuff breaks up the hard end and they unravel.
