Have Cub Cadet 7235 600 hrs. Rear pto slips and makes clicking noise under load. No local dealers will work on the tractor or provide a reasonable explanation for this problem. Where can I purchase or see a service manual?

Was wondering if anyone has used the agricredit online auction site to purchase a tractor. I believe most the tractors are all reposessed tractors, many are pretty new with very few hours. Im just a little weary buying something out of state or a few hundred miles away that I havent seen in person. Althought the prices are significantly cheaper than buying a new tractor from a dealership. I am in the market for approximately a 30 HP tractor with front loader and box scraper. I have one. Got it for 800 a few years ago on Ebay. Cost another 800 to get it shipped to me from Jinma, China. Still way cheaper than the locally produced ones of similar size and way more capable than the 4" DR type of similar price. Big downside and surprise was it arrived 60% unassembled and the instructions were not good ones. The delivery man simply left the crate in my driveway, about 800 pounds. Up side was my JD 770 loader (with a brace and a hook welded to the bucket) was quite capable of picking it up once a chain was wrapped around the crate. Second item of good news was finding a website with step-by-step assembly pictures that could be downloaded and color printed as a do it yourself guide. There was some concern over the 40 HP requirement on the instructions, but both my Farmall C, and the JD 770 were/are enough power to work it. Each is a 20 HP unit. The unit works well, about as well as their video of the guy feeding a board shows. There is no blower on mine. Since there is no emergency cut off switch, I do endorse using the lower end of the horsepower range. I can (barely) pull a 4 x 4 log back out of it, and am not sure this would be true were I battling a 40+HP machine. It has been about 4 years now. There are some hidden zerks that have to be lubricated now and then. Knife blade replacement (every mile or so of lumber) requires dis assembly and is a pain. Yes, the tractor PTO powers a multiple belted pulley. Belts can go bad now and then. Buy some spares and tuck them away. There is a smaller belt in the rear to turn the feeder. Green vine fragments can find their way to this area and cause clogs, but periodic shut downs and 3 minutes with a pair of long nose pliers plucks the vine fragments out. Dry vines don't seem to be a problem. Dead brush chips better than green stuff. Fragments with new blades are almost a powder, most 1/8 inch or smaller. As the blades dull (about 18 hours of steady use) the chips climb up to 1/4 square, then with another 3 8 hour days of chipping we start seeing 2 inch strips of bark. Time to replace or sharpen the blades (available from several online sources). I consider the wind when I use it as lots of the stuff comes out as fine sawdust and nothing like inhaling powdered poison ivy vines to teach you to stand upwind of the chute next time. My biggest complaint is that the discharge chute was flimsy and some sheet metal required a little beefing up with my MIG welder. A picture of it on my JD 770 in one of my forest clearings is attached.

I went to the local authorized repair shop today. $58 check-out fee. Not too bad. They feel at this time the stator/armature shorted out --which isn't made anymore; if it's the windings that's $800 plus labor. These guys handle the Ford Mo Co account so I hope they know what they're talking aboot, eh?

Actually Yanmar had storefronts in the US almost to the end of the 90s. There was one right up the road from me in Evansville, IN. Right up till they closed up shop, you could get parts for US-spec machines, but they'd turn you down if you asked for a part for a grey market model.

My YM240 was a US-spec Yanmar. Its grey market equivalent would be the YM2000. The 1st two digits in the US models represent engine HP, as opposed to PTO horsepower in the grey market models. At least the ones that start with YM that is. Don't know much about the F- and FX- models

The John Deere dealers (around here anyway) must have agreed to abide by Yanmars grey market rules too. I could get some YM240 parts through them, but they'd turn a YM2000 owner away.

Well I have never used the Terramite but I have ran a full size back hoe so I can say that for its size my BX23 has done everything including digging in hard clay 4 ft deep with stones and rocks that lifted the front end up with a 12in bucket. Yes it may be a bit slower but I compare it to my back and shovel. It works a lot faster then me and no back strain. I have lifted many items that I made the hydro talk back to me but it always got the job done. I also knew my unit operated above 1850 hydro pressure and have heard that many of the newer now have been running below that so may require some shims to increase it. I have now now just under 900 hours seat time and it will be 4 yrs old soon. I have cracked both joints in the front wheel drive and blew the tranny out. And glad to say Kubota covered the bill 100% even though it was out of warranty. I mow 4 acres of grass, work in 5 acres of Woods cutting firewood and take care of 1200 foot of Ditch bank.

Do you mean when you step on the 'reverse travel pedal' (the small one out near the edge of the floorboard) it goes forwards, or are you still stepping on the regular big horizontal pedal?

Other than Ann's excellent list.

Check the clutch is free, rusting solid after that amount of time sitting is common.

Before you try to start it, but after draining as much fuel as possible, refill it with fresh diesel that has been supplemented with a quality additive such as Power Service to clear out any junk in the fuel lines.

We had hydrometers and used them on new batteries before installation to make sure there were no weak cells. It just seemed sort of pointless for troubleshooting since good SG was no guarantee that the battery would hold up under load.

It's sort of like a D-cell. Who cares what the chemistry of a D-cell is if it won't light the flashlight? :)

Hardwood, my in laws had an accidednt. The dealership did the repair and replaced the rear axle as it took the lick they said. Not sure now if right after or right before that dealership closed the rear axle went to whinning real loud. Happened to have new closer dealership who said sorry, orginial axle, Chrysler back them up and did repair it as they had paper work proving it had been done. And people think only the policitians lie.
