Not sure what's available from JD for the 4115 but for the 4310 they sell a standard round trailer connector kit that probably has a brake pin. I've only used the +/- so far for powering an electric sprayer.

Every city has various small-engine repair shops, which all buy their parts from the same place. You could find out where, and take the old seals there for a matchup.

When a tractor is designed for sale in Japan, gets used there and bought by a jobber for sale in North America, it's a GM. There are many such Yanmars, and other brands, including, I understand, the occasional Kubota.<br>

In exchange for a lower price, you have a reversed control (hand throttle), Japanese labels, no US-required safety equipment like roll bar, seat belt, PTO shaft guard (but they are often added anyway), and not only the NA 540-speed PTO but also the faster speeds used in Japan (no problem). No factory support. Nor manuals in English, but some in-house ones are now being offered. I wouldn't worry about a reverse-turning PTO shaft. In short, pros and cons. I'd estimate that with the brand I know, the Yanmar, half are GMs, and the owners are doing just fine.<br>

Ask Canada Customs about duty and taxes on used tractors. To escape the PST in some provinces you have to prove you're a bona fide farmer as defined in that jurisdiction. There's more of everything in the States, and US prices may have fallen a bit more than ours. But your dollar is worth under 80 cents there, and you'll have to have it transported. <br>

Other than towing, a tractor serves no purpose except carrying the various attachments that do the work. Depending on what you want to do, you can pay more for them than for the tractor. So decide what you'll be doing, then try to get a package: used tractor with the used implements you want. <br>

Where to buy? You won't pick up parts at the hardware store, nor drive it to your car mechanic for diagnoses and repairs. So unless you're experienced, you want to get it from a nearby dealer who'll look after you.<br>

I've been cooking over a wood fire grill for years. With a bit of prep time a couple of times a year it's not much if any slower than a propane or gas grill.

The only electricity required is to keep the beverages cold, and see what I'm doing if it's a late dinner.

Besides, after the roadkill is off the grill I can top up the fire and stay warm while I watch the bats eat all my mosquitoes. LOL

I have no knowledge of the Kubota 7800's performance. I can tell you that the Kioti is a much heavier tractor and I have been very pleased with my 2008 model. (The 2009 has been bumped up to 22hp. and is called a Ck 20s) I have only one complaint and I was aware of this short coming when I bought the tractor. The hst model has only two transmission ranges. The low range will allow you to do anything the little tractor was designed to do as long as you don't want to go faster than 5 mph. The high range will take you up to 10 mph but limits the power of the tractor. If you have a level yard or field to mow no problem, but it will not climb a hill while brush hogging or mowing in high range. I'm not bothered by it that much because it much much cheaper than any other tractor of that size and hp range. It is very well made, but a little

Hard to tell. If the mechanic hasn't done one before, and they bill on straight time and materials and not shop rate, then maybe not. Not sure if there are shop rate manuals on every tractor made.

I'd have a friendly talk to the dealer, calmly and honestly, and ask them why the difference and where the mistake was made. Maybe they will meet you halfway on the difference between the estimate and final bill.

Without separate supply and return lines on the tractor, your splitter will not work properly. What you describe sounds like the trailer dump configuration. That is, a common line with pressurized supply and gravity return. When the flow is diverted to that single remote, the lift handle pushes hydraulic fluid to/through the remote. Typically, this lifts the hydraulic bed of a dump trailer. When the lift handle is moved the other way, pressure is relieved and the weight of the trailer bed (gravity) pushes fluid back through the connection into the sump. And there are two types of divertors that I know of for that remote; one is a hex head bolt on the left side of the sump housing. The other works in conjunction with the flow control valve in front of the seat. On both, one way directs the flow to the lift - the other way directs the flow to the remote.<br>

To operate your splitter properly, you'll have to install a pair of independent remotes with their own control valve - typically open-centered. That way you set the remote controller to flow, then control the flow with the valve on the woodsplitter itself.<br>

I ran JohnDeere cornhead grease(gl#0) in leaky gearboxs before. Old bushhogs are prone to leaking and this grease mixed 50/50 with gear oil is usually thick enough to not leak out.� If the 50/50 mix leaks you can run it 100 percent but a little gear oil makes it more fluid.� If you have a bushhog that is new or under warrenty,I would fix the seal the proper way.� But in a pinch and on older equipment that sits for most of the time, grease it up.��

The connections between the tractors hydraulic system and the loaders. Particularly the quick connects.

It sounds like you either have one not connected right, or one that's gone bad.

Do you have Sensitrack with Supersteer? If yes check that the return spring that is exposed at the front U-joint (has a rubber boot around it) isn't missing or disconnected.

Gatoraider has it correct. Exact same problems I used to have with mine (fan and hoses) You must fill that little hole to the top. I did it while running and water pumping to be sure it was full. No problems from then on. I also put an override toggle switch on the fan control just in case. It would let it run all the time if I wanted.

Thanks Paul, that was one reason I preferred the dump truck to leave my bigger tractor for blade work as the dirt is dumped.

What a great discussion, thanks to all. One of the features of a forum like this is that there is a tendency to only mention problems or issues, and that is as it should be.

We don't talk about all of the planes that DIDN'T crash or all of the kids that DIDN'T get killed in a drive-by so it's only fitting that we don't talk about all of the Chinese tractors that have worked well over many hundreds of hours; but I suspect that there are many of them. Many of the guys/gals on here are by nature very good with their hands and like to tinker/repair their stuff and a few like me are not as adept. That's OK, cause the guys here a fantastic when it comes to helping...and that is, to me, almost as important as having a dealer in your area plus any good mechanic will work on these.

As mentioned, if your business model does not allow for any down time then buy as good as you can afford from the closest dealer, but if you can stand to be down for a week or two (and thanks to guys like Chip or Harry or Greg just about any part can be to you in a week) and you don't mind getting your hands dirty then I think these basic Chinese tractors are a good deal.

As far as 'be American buy American' that's impossible, we live in a global economy and you CAN NOT help but support some other country's economy no matter what you buy. There's a reason Walmart and Best Buy are the biggest - they're the cheapest and most of it comes from Asia or other developing countries.

That's my 4 cents worth, and again this is a good discussion; it clears the air on many misunderstood points of ownership of these little tractors.

Ken, we use something similar but mounted on a larger machine.

It actually takes very little to push over a tree. If you have ever seen a 'tree feller' working ('Ax Men' on the TV for instance) you would see that a pair of plastic wedges about 2" thick at the base knocked into the cut with a small axe will easily flip a 24" tree over.

The amount of pressure that the bucket dump circuit can muster, lifting the front of a tractor for instance, is a lot more than you would first think.

The key of course is to remember that it is gravity after all doing the real work, if the tree is already leaning badly, this won't change the facts that it will likely fall that way despite your best efforts to the contrary.

If all you want to cut is the smaller stuff, say up to 12" I'd say even a fairly small machine would do it. Especially if they grew crowded and were straight as a pool cue.
