I'm not sure why but power plant fly ash is sometimes used around here. I've never took a good look at it but some say it hardens like concreet after it settles. Whether it is a cost factor compared to crushed linestone or what? Maybe you guys know the skinny.

Got around the neutral safety and started it OK, but cannot get it in gear. Do you think raising it off the ground to relieve pressure would do it?

Greg,

Actually after my question to you I did go to the web and searched Tri-Fuel generators. I only saw Tri-Fuel for Gas/NG/LP options but none that included diesel as one of the fuels...for obvious reasons. But with these three fuels, one still has to rely on a public supply in the event of a crisis...but I suppose having 3 options is better than having only one.

Not that I can notice. I think they only claim a 5% increase.

I did get the new alloy wheels and they look terrific.

The previous responses reflect my own experience. I've searched for parts for weeks including grey market specialist and salvage yards. One of the reason I bought an old Ford is that I expected it would be easy and cheap to get parts. I was wrong. I still think pound for pound I'd go for a 25 year old US/Japanese tractor over the newer Chinese made machines. Shibaura is now part of IHI. They make alot of small engines and miniexcavators. The parent company has a deal with Perkins and they make a small Shibaura/IHI/Perkins engine in Georgia--thousands of them. Does anyone know whether the short block on these Shibaura designed engines can be adapted to the older Ford tractors. My Shibaura is a LEM 853, 28hp 3 cylinder diesel.

I didn't intentionally leave Kuboat out, just was typing faster than I was thinking. Just as an example on parts availabilty for domestic brands I have two "H" Farmalls and a "Cub" Farmall, all over sixty years old that still have parts available thru Case/IH.

I just remembered another problem I encountered. I had an HPX that had all the rivets sheared off one side of the driven clutch. It was hard to see when it was sitting still but it shuddered like you said when it took off. But when you took the belt off you could spin one side of the driven clutch like a top.

My 6' wide skid steer bucket is nearly 500 lb., my industrial grapple is a few pounds over 800--that cuts my lifting by 300 lb.

On a small machine with marginal rating to start, a few pounds can make a BIG difference.

Last year around our garden I used a Zareba Solar charger from TSC. It kept our 4 horses out fine. It is a low impedence "pulse" type and maxes out my 10,000 volt fence tester on about 1/4 mi of fence. It is now on loan with my neighbor and he is using it for temporary grazing for his 3 horses. He has had no issues either.
As for deer, I have heard (and others have already mentioned) that two rows of fencing about 4' apart is the most effective.

That's because you did it wrong. You're supposed to give us the answer (Loose washer in injector pump) then we would come up with the question (why won't my tractor run?)

I will get some Sunday, most of the snow will be off it by then. I think you have a pretty good idea of how it works. Speed and lots of power is NOT what you want with digging, until you get much more experience.

Yes i would like to no if anyone has any input on the new holland 3040 tractor? I was useing a old fordson power major but it has alot of problems and parts are hard to find. The 3040 im looking at is hydro. transmission with the 260tl loader 72" bucket,ag tires, and joystick control. The dealer quoted me a price of 22,560 that includes shipping. What im asking is this a good price & is this a good tractor?
