Joel---Thank you very much for this info---I found several 205-4's on the net and they certainly appear to be the twin brother to the E18D. I will follow-up with a trip to the local MF dealership to see what info they can provide.---Thanks again for the help!!!

Running summer or all season tires in winter isn't an option here. Winter tires are soft and wear more easily especially in the heat of summer. I think I actually make out better financially having two sets. I get better mileage with my summer tires. And I don't buy any more tires having two sets, I just end up having the two sets twice as long.

What did you do to those bolts, anyway, looks like a story.

26 horsepower is plenty for what you need to do. However, as Murf correctly pointed out, power factors depend on the size of the equipment you plan to power, and the speed at which you wish to accomplish the job.

Commercial operators make their money by completing several jobs in a very short amount of time. Therefore, they need equipment that allows them to "get in and get out". That's the primary reason behind commercial operators using large equipment. The B2620 would do the job just as well, though not nearly as quickly.

If you have a lot of debris to work around, it might be best to use the loader in conjunction with a rear mounted blade, or box-scraper. You can use the blade to push the snow as far as you can, and then use the loader to pile it high and out of the way.

Chains aren't necessary, unless you're working on ice. You will need 4-wheel drive, however. You might also find that you'll have a hard time pushing lots of heavy, wet snow, without chains. If chains are necessary, one pair for the rear wheels is plenty. You also have the option of engaging the differential lock, which powers both rear wheels. With chains on the rear, and the differential locked, a tractor is almost unstoppable. (The front axle doesn't lock. Only one front wheel has power.)

Kubota's attachments are super easy to attach and remove. You'll find that the loader will come off and go right back on in less than 5 minutes, and with little or no effort. Mid-Mount Mowers (MMM) are a different story.....not so easy.

Changing the oil on the Kubota is a very simple operation, but you MUST read the manual. It would help a whole lot if you have even a small air compressor around, as well as grease guns, a few wrenches, etc. The air compressor is essential for blowing out the radiator and the air filter. Your tractor will overheat quickly with even a small amount of debris in the radiator. Small tractors just don't have a lot of radiator cooling surface to spare. Keep the radiator CLEAN! (It's easy to do.)

On ice and snow, you'll find that you'll have far better traction if you let about 10 pounds of air pressure out of the tires. This causes the tires to flatten out a bit, providing far greater surface contact, and lots more traction. (Another reason for having an air compressor on hand.)

And yes......there are some tractors which are designed to be used with the loader at all times. Some machines are designed for use by contractors, who never remove their loaders. Make sure you get yourself a tractor that falls under the category of "Compact Utility Tractor" (CUT), rather than a "Dedicated" machine.

Kenny, have you seen or do you have in your area the kind of pine trees they have on the Gulf Coast? I think they were called long-leaf pines that grew as much as 3 feet in diameter at the base, straight up as an arrow, and had virtually no branches until the last 15-40 feet on the 130 foot tall ones. These had a single tap root that looked like huge carrot--sometimes they could be as deep as 8'. Are these called Lob-Lollys?

I saw very few pines down there that had a Christmas tree type root ball that spread out.

Pines here in Michigan generally have a small tap root a few feet deep and spread about half as wide as the overall tree diameter.

I too have many fond memories of the island area, fished there from the time I was ten. Was rowing my way around until I was about twelve at which time I acquired an old Merc (very old) to pin on the transom.

Your best bet is to find out if, and as what, that tractor was sold here in North America.

If memory serves me they were sold as Case IH compacts.

If you can find out a North American model equivalent, then you can start looking around the after-market manufacturers and wrecking yards for one.

Other than that if you have someone nearby that's decent at fabricating, all you need is an FEL off a similar-sized machine and make up the or change the mounting bosses. It's not difficult at all, very simple straight-forward stuff.

To change to a heavier bucket would make picing those rocks harder as the weight of the bucket would lower the amount of load you can carry.

On a bowed bottom of a bucket we often buy a four inch cutting edge and add it to the bottom lip to stop the bending and save the bucket that you have.

Murf's point is a valid one! The rip could also be causing some of the problem.

It's for that reason that in the northeast if you are going to be changing to synthetic oil you really need to put a lot of hours on your tractor in a year to justify because it should be changed yearly do to the condensation.
Many people don't put enough hours on to challange the ability of a base oil.

Glad to hear you found what you were looking for! Congratulations!

As for the gravel and the old tar, I think you might find that casters will cause you all sorts of trouble. (Mainly because they'll be too high.) It might be better to simply install a pair of skids under the blower.

My skids look like an arc, cut from a circle. They're about 2 inches wide, and about 3/8" thick. They aren't adjustable. They're permanently welded to the bottom of the blower housing, about 1" in from the outer edges. My skids leave about 1.5" of snow on the driveway.

The arc shape prevents them from digging into the ground, or from catching on the cracks on a concrete slab. They also work well to prevent me from digging into the rocks on my gravel driveway. I only have to be careful not to span directly over the crown in the center of my driveway. If I make a pass down each side, it works great.

These skids are foolproof. They've been on this blower for many years, and are just now beginning to show signs of wear at the very bottom. The wear takes place during the first snow removal of the year, before there's any hard-packed snow on the driveway. After the first snowfall, no further wear takes place on the skids. The car traffic packs the snow down good, creating a smooth surface for the skids to ride over.

If you live in a place where frequent melting takes place between each snowfall, the wear on the skid plates would be much more rapid. Even so, they're easy and cheap to replace. A flat bar of 3/8" thick steel, 2 inches wide, can easily be bent in any ordinary hydraulic press, and then welded on for you. No matter where you live, they'll last many years.

Thanks guys. No, not a big deal to remove it but in theory, the e-10 is cleaning the tank. It looks clean inside, but I will take another peek with a mirror and a cigarette lighter :)

Murf, I do have a couple of old filter canisters from my boat, changed them over to the spin on type and already had a bunch of the cartridges. I may be able to make a temporary line directly off the tank bottom and run it to the bowl. That way I don't trash the original line (whole tractor is still original).

We were up in degrees last night and today with rain but now the snow is back.

There is no relationship between the PTO linkage and the hydraulics. But if the hydraulic sump had to be removed to repair the PTO linkage, that might be the cause of the leak. Any time the sump is removed, a new gasket should be installed. But that should NOT be related to cold weather sluggishness of the hitch and steering. <br>

My SWAG is that the suction screen inside the hydraulic sump coincidentally needs to be either cleaned or replaced. It's clogged when cold, a condition that is conditionally relieved once the fluid thins during warmup<br>

Oh, one other thing - and this isn't really all that important - but you referred to your AgraCat as a 2920. I have a 2003 AgraCat pricelist, it reflects a 2940A, a 2940I, and a 2940T - but no 2920. So I was just curious about the model number. (<br>

Yes, you are on the right track. When I was grading the road, I stopped to adjust the hitch controll knob under the seat. When I did, the drag box/3 point Dropped to the ground. I had to disconnect the box to move the tractor. The controll knob does nothing but turn in and out. The up/down control is connected. What does it take to re-adjust the hitch control or what might I need to do to troubleshoot/fix it?

I can't see the load check valve having any malfunction that would do what you're talking about.

In my experience any time a pilot operated lock goes bad it's the same thing, it just stops working. Period. No funny symptoms.
