I did mention by liking to diesels ,but lets face it ,the manufactures are not going to allow them selves to put out of business with 1,000,000 mile life span cars or cars that get 100 mpg or stainless steel/composite vehicle's that will never rust out. There is no money in it for them, it would kill millions of jobs linked to the already collapsing auto industry from just foreign markets, I guess what comes around goes around, wouldn't MR. Tucker and a few other pioneering people love to see the big 3 demise ..... Pay back is a B_____ . MY feelings only, the only way were are going to see 100 mpg cars is a socialistic move by the government and that will never happen in the USA due to our capitalistic economy. BEWARE when some one calls you COMRADE

Another reason for the canted front wheels on a farm tractor was to let mud or a stone that got pinched between the tires at their bottom most point of their rotastion to fall out before it got to the steering post between the front wheels.
I and a friend of mine who spent his working lifetime running a county road grader were just discussing grader design a few days ago. He started before thay had hydraulics, then ended up as his last grader an articulated Deere. His comment was that the ability to cant the front wheels always was a big help, but that along with articulating the frame was a joy to operate.

When you get right down to it, all diesels are heavy duty - when compared to their gasoline/propane/LNG counterparts. Yet SCAs don't need to be used in all diesels - or in all engines for that matter. It's a wet-sleeve/dry-sleeve thing.<br>

If the water jackets are pre-cast into the block, it's a dry sleeve engine. If the coolant passages (water jackets) aren't complete until cylinder liners (sleeves) are pressed in, it's a wet sleeve engine. By design, wet sleeves are simply more susceptible to cavitation damage than are dry sleeves. Thus the recommendation for SCA type coolant in wet-sleeved engines, diesel or otherwise. <br>

Do you have quick disconnects on those lines? If yes, maybe one is plugged up, not working properly or not connected right.

There just aren't many people here who own Shibaura tractors. We try our best to help, but we just don't know any specifics relating to your particular tractor.

You might try doing a Google search for discussion groups dealing with Shibaura tractors. For example, the good people at SSB Tractor maintain a discussion board dedicated to owners of Shibaura tractors. You'll likely find a few people there who will be able to answer your specific questions.

By the way, I see that there are a few folks there who offer manuals to Shibaura owners. You'll have to purchase the manuals, but they seem to be available for many different models.

I just had my first experience cutting 2" tumbled bluestone that I laid down for my front walk. My expensive cedar walk rotted out in 12 tears due to dampness. I bought a $50 diamond blade from home depot and used my cheap skil circular saw. I was amazed. I layed most of the stone without cutting. But I dry cut maybe 15 total feet of the 2" stone to fix the rough spots. It cut very easily at first , became a chore as I was finishing up.

I've had the spring behind the ball break in one half of a coupler set, this causes such things too. Does one half of the coupler set have a ball valve and the other half have the pointed valve instead of the ball? Could there be somethinmg as simple as a stick, some dirt from off the platform of the tractor that is keeping the lever from moving the control valve as far as iot should go??

Valve cover gaskets should be tightened from the center out to the edge of the cover. Start with the bolts nearest the center of the engine and work your way out to the ends of the heads. You don't need to apply much torque on the valve cover bolts.

There is a recommended valve cover tightening pattern. However, the pattern is generally the same on all engines. The idea is to allow the gasket to squeeze out evenly along the entire surface of the head.

If you start from one end, you'll have too much gasket showing on the other end. If you start from both ends, you could end up with a bubble in the gasket near the center.

Start from the center of the head and work your way outward, alternating between opposite bolts as you go. In other words, if you're standing on the left side of the engine, start with the center bolt closest to you, then tighten the bolt in the center of the valve cover on the right side. Alternate between opposite bolts as you work your way out to the ends of the cover. Do not over-tighten the bolts. It doesn't take a lot of torque to create a seal. 17-20 lb. ft. of torque should be plenty.

You should recheck the valve cover bolts after the first 50 hours of use, as the gasket will squeeze out slightly with the changes in temperature. I do not recommend re-using the origninal gasket.

With the flywheel turning only a half-revolution, I'm not sure that the problem will be found in the valve cover. It sounds to me as though you may have a broken valve, which has become lodged between the piston and the head. Until you get this figured out, DO NOT attempt to start the engine. You could break a rod or piston, crack your head, or even snap your crankshaft.

Sorry for being unclear. It will need replacing in a few years, so I was thinking of doing it now while the hood's off. (It's not easy getting the hood off-and-on, and harder getting the battery out-and-in with the hood on.)

GW, it's actually a lot easier than it sounds, at least if you've done it before, or even seen it done it is.

All you need to do to make an under-slung mower lift is run a few cables from the mower deck up to some pulleys and then back to the 3pth. When you lift the 3pth, the cables pull and the deck goes up. Gravity takes it back down when you lower the 3pth.

The hanging gear box is the tickler in there, they are pretty rare these days and most people make their own using multiple roller chains and some gears and shafting.
