I was cleaning up and lubing my backhoe and discovered a few small rust spots on the outrigger cylinder shafts. The chrome is a little pitted in those spots and that will likely cause the seals to fail. Is there any good fix for small rust spots? Is there any coating that could be applied to help out?

I've pulled many a trailer into/out of backyards where I couldn't get a truck with my medium-size backhoe. Just hooked the safety chains together and hooked them to the BH bucket teeth.

Shoot, you could even pull it backward with a hole for the hitch ball in the front bucket (I did that too ONCE but pulled the ball clean out of the bucket since I couldn't keep the attitude of the bucket to the trailer correct)

Anywho... seriously though, I read about a guy up Murf's way that welded a hitch ball to the back of his BH bucket and installed a tow bar on the front of his pickup. What he would do is drive the backhoe to the job with truck in tow. Once at the job, and done for the day he'd leave the backhoe there and drive the truck home.

And having a ball on the back of a BH bucket is not only handy for placing trailers in/on/over obstacles to keep thieves at bay, but it's handy for hooking a chain or rope onto.

What kind of feedback are you looking for? As far as other brands and types, you are correct. In fact, skid steer attachments particularly 6-way dozer blades, harley-type rakes, rock rakes, power brooms and any othe other attachments that use more than two hydraulic circuits have an electric-over-hydraulic controller. Even my skid steer has something sort of like this unit for the quick attach which is hydraulically operated instead of using manually operated handles. The way it works is you have to curl back the bucket (or attachment) first, then hit LATCH or UNLATCH for it work. Apparently something inside the electric valve has to dead-head in the curled back position only first to divert the fluid.

I need a gear part out of the transmission. "Fixing Gear B" listed in the parts manual, which is the primary drive gear between the main drive shaft and the transmission gears. I have contacted all of the junk dealers I know of with no success in locating the part. I have sent Shibaura and some of the their dealers in the the UK and Austraila emails about acquiring the part, but no one will even respond. I have priced having a machine shop make it from scratch, but the $1200 price quoted is a bit much to pay. Does anyone know of a way to get this part?<br>

I have a International 254 with a Mitsubishi K3E 3cyl diesel. The engine seized and I have decided to put a new engine in it. The International dealer tells me the K3E is not available. I have found a Mitsubishi S3L2 with almost the exact specs down to the physical size. Does anyone know if I would be able to swap it for the K3E ?

First things first, try to be a little more descriptive, too many words make life far easier than not enough does, I can't see what you're pointing at. LOL

Most generic parts will be available locally at ANY farm equip dealer or Tractor Supply, etc., and in the absence of that, yes chain will suffice for the anti-sway links.

Just remember, the two lift arms will likely need SOME slack in the anti-sway chains since they will get tighter as you lift the 3pth up, if there isn't any slack, it will bend or break something (else).

If the part you are saying is broken is the threaded rod that runs between the BB and the tractor to make the 3rd (upper) point of the 3pth, then that is available anywhere that sells farm stuff also. It is called a "top link".

I never did have an original owner's manual. I'm pretty sure I had a JD-47 manual, but I can't find it. If its not too much trouble, it would be nice to have a copy of both. Let me know what you would like me to pay you for that.<br>

When you noticed that the tractor was at a point of no return, i.e., it was going to tip over, did you jump off the tractor? Thank goodness no one was hurt!

The tool in commonally called a pickle fork. You can get a hammer style or a pneumatic style. either will do the job. $10-$20 depending on quality.

Art I agree with you. What I meant to say is that by going larger and heavier you can get a larger deck (perhaps)while at the same time increase comfort from a riding perspective--not so much bouncing around like a smaller machine has been for me. And from my perspective, heavier machine + wider deck + more power = faster cutting.

You might be able to adapt it as it was used on the B-2150 which is it's previous model. It might be to narrow depending on your tires with it's width at 50".

Hello all. Just wanted to drop a message, and ask another question, on this tractor.

We broke it apart, resurfaced the flywheel, replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and other misc. parts, and put it all back together. All went well, and again, thanks to all who provided input.

Now we have another problem that we didn't have before. No hydraulic pressure. We replaced the o-rings at the hydraulic pump suction and discharge lines (that's where we broke the lines to pull the tractor apart.).

When we didn't get oil pressure, we completely drained the tranny case and refilled with new fluid. We loosened the discharge line and we get pressure. But the pump runs hot unless we loosen the pressure spring on the left side, under the seat of the tractor. When we have the cap turned almost all the way out, we hear the engine speed up, and the pump cools off (telling us we have flow.). But still no lift on the 3-point hitch (FEL is not installed yet until we get the hydraulic problem figured out.).

Just to note, when the guys took the FEL off, they didn't run the lift control all around to release all the line pressures. We went to put the FEL back on when we found we didn't have hydraulic pressure.

Any ideas on how to solve the problem would be appreciated. We have a shop service manual, but nothing in there tells how to bleed the hydraulic system.
