My kubota BX2200 has a seat switch , made around the same time frame. You would think the BX22 would also?

Based on the above I'd say it's unlikely a head gasket problem. I agree that the problem will often worsen as the engine heats, but it will be a constant problem, i.e. worse when hot, better when cold.

A problem that is unpredictable, works good sometimes when it's hot, sometimes not, sometimes works good for a few hours, sometimes gets bad in a few minutes is more likely a problem like a sticky valve or a piece of junk between the pump & injector. Something that can come & go, not a break or crack that is constant.

Joshmuthaf,

I'm guessing that some of your engine oil has been trapped in the cylinders. This will happen anytime an engine has been tipped on its side.

It's always best to let the engine sit for a couple of days, allowing any oil to drain back into the oil pan, before attempting to start it.

This problem will go away on its own after allowing time for the engine oil to drain back into the oil pan.

I went through an issue similar to this with my Yanmar several years ago. It was built in the late 70s. There was one (maybe two) gear selections that would pop the shifter into neutral under load (usually uphill). Maybe it was the range select lever, my recollection is fuzzy. anyway, until I could get the covers off, I worked around the issue with a bungee cord (holding the problem lever in place). <br>

The problem turned out to be age, pure and simple. Over the years, the edges of the gear teeth wore off, bearings and bushings started to get loose, shafts were worn, and the most used gears would simply slip off each other under load. The quick fix was to replace worn gears/bearings/bushings/shafts, but that would just lead to others doing the same thing over time (transfer of torque to weaker components). A more permanent - and necessarily more expensive - solution was to rebuild/replace the tranny. <br>

So I just stayed with the bungee cord workaround till I eventually sold the tractor (and told the buyer of course).<br>

Yes, I'm sure you could fabricate a bucket bracket (maybe not the sliding feature) for a gas one. An alternative would be to hard-wire an inverter (mine is 2000w) so you could use an electric one. Less powerful, but cheaper, lighter, simpler. (I use the inverter to plug in other things like chainsaws.)

got a hint for you on the hydraulic problem. On the right hand side of the hydraulic control lever is a flat oval shaped plate held down with to bolts. under this plate is a check valve. Remove the 2 bolts and lift off the plate and you will see what looks like a washer with the hole off center. under that is a spring. Sometimes this assembly will all raise up when you take off the plate. what has happened is that when you lost or got low fluid in the reservoir, you passed some trash thru to the check valve. A quick fix is to close the throttle and turn the engine over until you get a good gush of hyd. fluid up thru the check valve. reinstall the spring, washer and plate and your lift will work. This is a field fix, and at some point in time you will need to drain the reservoir, remove and clean the filter and flush out the reservoir and refill with new oil.

Unless you're like me and drive the tractor into town for coffee and a couple of gallons of diesel I doubt you'd even be able to notice a difference of 2mph.....

Harvery, you will enjoy it. As to those turns, Cutter's idea is how I try to turn but don't let one tire not be turning even in reverse it will do much less damage than just being a pivot point. kt

What do you folks think would be a fair asking price for this? I have a new house which has less property (10 acres instead of 100 to maintain) but more lawn to mow (5 acres instead of 1. If so, yes do change it, 60 hours isn't much but is still enough for acids, water, etc. to accumulate in the oil over a year's time. Follow your owners manual to the letter far as oil type and filters, don't scrimp with cheap oil or filters. Frank. [/QUOTE]hi frank i did change the engine oil and it was realy dark from now on i will change it ones a year one litre of kubota oil and filter it cost me 25.93 and i have spare oil left for one more time .thanks mario
