EW, thought of you last week and this post as I went to buy drainage pipe. You may be buying at the wrong store. My son in law suggested a local company who makes concrete drainage and sells the plastic pipe. They were a good bit less for what I wanted than Lowes. This was field drainage pipe with the sock on it. kt

Wow, lots of interseting theories as to the cause of my water pump woes! I'm certainly going to load 'er up with some sort of coolant lubricant this go-aroud; I'll also use the pre-mixed coolant just to take the well water out of the equation although I'm 99% sure the water is not the problem. Our area of North Georgia has the reputation of having very good water. Regarding an out of balance fan/pully assy, I don't think this is the culprit either; the B7800 uses a stamped steel pully, just like you find on your typical Japanese car (I used to be a Toyota Dealer mechainc in a former life). Considering the weight & construction of the pully, I don't see how it could be out of balance enough to cause my problem. Nothing is out of true or wobbling when the engine is running.
I also am nearly convinced that the tractor is not overheating until it has lost a significant portion of the coolant via a leaky water pump. I can't say for sure what happened the first time as my wife was running the tractor. Since that incident, I have been paranoid about a repeat occurrance, and have cleared chaff after every hour or so and watched the coolant level like a hawk. The tractor never overheated until I lost another waterpump, nad it didn't really overheat this time, the guage did not get into the red zone, just very close. When mowing, the temperature typically will get about about half way up on the guage before I clear the chaff, which immediately drops it back to around 1/4 of the way up. I also try to keep the air filter clean, which is quite a chore on a B7800; you can get a ton of dirt out of it after every job; I've run the same filter in my 2240 John Deere for years, in some fairly dusty conditions, I never get much more than a puff of dust when I blow it out.

KT and Murf Thanks for your reply.You gave me a good starting point. I am mechanically incline to some degree so I like to try to fix it myself. I am new to farm tractors,just feeling my way around now. I purchased the L2900 with FEL, bush hog, scraper blade and some other attachments for 9 grand.The seller seemed to be up front about everything. It looks and runs great except for the one problem.I greatly appreciate the info. I will let you know the out come.

I was wondering if anyone knew what company makes the 54 inch loader for the new 20 hp Bobcat tractor. <br>

It was a much heavier duty bucket than what is on my LA302. <br>

Has anyone swapped a bucket? I would like a slightly wider bucket with enough strength to lift rocks without bowing on bottom or the top. My bucket has had a hard life after 3 years of work .<br>

Brian, it's not stronger any more, it slipped a little or you're reading the exchange wrong.

To buy US$1.00 will cost us CDN$1.06465 (using your numbers) or an extra six and a half cents per dollar..

In some cases though we are seeing some prices that are better up here, usually it's due to orders placed at times when the dollar was stronger or the product being made here.

I have a small P175F which is about the size of yours. I took some wheel weight off a parts tractor, about 200# apiece, and made an adapter to fit them on the tractor. I can lift a full bucket of wet dirt now without it becoming unstable. I never could before. Look into it. I also live on a sloping piece of ground.

My brother and I have run Stihl saws for about 20 years. "Knock on wood" - we have had only a few 'minor problems" but nothing to say major problems (spark plugs now and then,normal wear /tear items and once the saw stopped-somehow sawdust got builtup inside the clutch area and would not allow turn over). My saw is about 25 yrs old with 40:1 mix ratio and have used 87octane and have had not problems starting...my brother recent bought two newer models and has found-- The ONE BIG change is GAS! - Read the owners manual.. they call for Premimun grade for the mix... yes it makes a difference .. We were cutting with a friend who had a brand new one week old Stihl he refilled with a batch he made with regular 87 gas and his saw would not start. we dumped his mix out and refilled with the 'higrade mix' took abit to work it thru the carb etc but his saw started...
The service shop keeps telling me its okay to switch my old saw to the 50:1 mix -but i'm like hey the saw has run this long with the old diet and it has not given me any complains.. just me having to measureout the oil dosage for the right proportions...no premeasured bottles for me...darn... he he

I use my 3400 for mostly loader work and yes if the grass is really wet the R4's will tear up the yard but if you go with the turf tires you'll end up spinning and doing more damage anyway. One of my friends has a kubota riding mower and it leaves ruts if the ground is to wet. I looked at the grand models and just couldn't justify spending an extra 5,000 for some bells and whistles. The only complaint that I have is that i keep trying to pick up things that are way to heavy. Not the tractors fault I should have bought an excavator. I was just so impressed by the capabilities that I push it to the max and sometimes it complains. 100000% satisfied and will be buying another when I finally destroy this one. :) <br>

On another note it took me 4 months and going into the building department shouting to get my permits passed. Don't give a second thought about asking to talk to the supervisor in charge. Most of the counter people do everything they can to try and make your life miserable.

We learned by experience that the wall and ceiling color have a lot to do with how well you can light up a garage or any building. When we bought our summer house the inside of the garage was a real dark color, the lights just died. We painted it white and presto the same lights did twice as much good. Anyhow to your question on what kind of lights to use. The garage I just spoke of has common incandesants and my woodshop with 9 ft. ceilings has twelve of the "Curly Fry" flourescents (75's???) in an 18X46 room and do real good. In the storage part of the shed the ceiling is 16ft. and the little "Curly's" just don't do it so I used common 200W clear bulbs and the are not perfect but adequate. Frank.

My yanny is an export model, yet came plastered with Japanese decals (maybe the dealer stuck them on during assembly). Got them translated. Messages like "Yanmar-san wish safe conduct" and "No operate in water at night."
