We have very few machines that the FEL comes off of very often so it's not a big problem. Our main issue is the zero tolerance for oil spillage.

What we did was make up a pair of short hoses with a ball valve between them and a coupler at each end. Two of these are connected as soon as the FEL is disconnected and left in place. To relieve pressure all you have to do is open the ball valve.

I've seen others reverse two of the couplers so that each line is one male, one female, then you just loop the hoses back together when you park the FEL. That seals the couplers too, keeps them cleaner.

IMHO opinion, the front wheels do little to add to side-to-side stability whether or not they are loaded.

Since the front axle pivots adding weight to the front end won't help any until the tractor is so far over that the front axle had reached it's limit of pivot travel. The tractor would be so far over at that point it would be a case of 'too little, too late'.

If you plan on mowing straight up/down hills, then why bother to ballast, just scoop a little material into the bucket of the FEL.

Sickle bar mowers, I did like the Sitrex pricing but they got a little high, We've been with the Gaspardo this year, a 4'9" is about 3260. jswoodhous.com is where we get them from.
Bush hog builds the SM-60 if your tractor is over 6000lbs and you have a cat II hitch. That for the most part puts you into a 70 horsepower chassis as you also need 3200lbs lift on the three point 24 inches behind the pins. The unit slides in and out nearly 32" to go around obstructions. These units are around 7000 depending on how they are set up.
The three point boom mowers will start around 10,000 for about a 3' flail head and will fit a smaller tractor then above. You have a host of companies that build them and they add some value if you also have a few hedges to trim!

For the energetic, husquvarna builds a hover mower that if the grass is kept short enough we have people who use them to mow over the banks of ponds, most people like the price of these units and then they hire someone to operate them!

I took the hitch pictured below and ground a bit of metal off the top latch so it will close and lock over the top of the coupler.<br>

I came up with this after consulting with Murf about the negative loads placed on the hitch when operating the dump trailer.<br>

The side benefit is that it will certainly keep a firm grip on a coupler at highway speeds and is cheaper than replacing the coupler and all that brake stuff.

I would agree with Kenneth, if the engine was 18hp gross, the PTO would likely be around 12 hp.

As for the owners claim it has enough hp for a brush cutter, I'd be rather skeptical. The rule of thumb is that a brush cutter needs about 5hp per foot of cutter, so a 4' wide cutter would need 20hp at the PTO. Now if you were cutting a lawn it might be a different story, but 12hp sure doesn't sound like it would cut very much of anything!!

There's lots of wood-burning appliances out there that will handle green or dry wood chips.

Just look for anything that is billed as a "multi-fuel" unit. Generally they will handle chips, bio-mass fuel pellets, corn (even wet) and pellets too.

Norm, I have had ground issues with the back lights on one of my Kubota's and have had wire plugs get pulled loose also. I would check those plug ins and also look for any place the wires could be cut by lift arms or such.

Can be cut and not grounded out to where a fuse would blow. Not likely but have seen it. kt

I trust that by now, you found the fuse container when you remove the radiator screen. While I don;t know about fuse links, your owners manual has a shematic toward the rear.

I did a little more tweeking and bending of the mounts and all is well. They claim the mounts are part of the loader and under a 12 month warranty so Golden Eagle wanted about $200 a piece fot he two mounts plus labor.
