The other important factor in this discussion is safety.

Just because a certain size tractor can DO the job, it doesn't mean it will be able to do it SAFELY.

Skidding winches are a sort of hazard all by themselves. If used for the job intended, winching, they're not too bad, but when used as a means of skidding a log they can become very dangerous, very fast!

The 3pth of a tractor is a handy tool, but is designed to take a load in really just one fashion, pulled low and from the two lower arms almost exclusively. The upper link is only really there to allow the lifted load to be held steady while lifting or transporting an implement itself.

A skidding winch usually has the pulling point very high on the device if not right at the top, and the chain hooks also well up from the lower arms, and thus any load is transmitted through the upper link point.

If you pull too hard from the upper link you will damage the hitch, roll the tractor over backwards, or both!

The explanation I received was that the mounting for the 485 has been modified slightly so that it can be used on both tractors with a cab and those without. The 448 did not fit tractors with a cab. Either would be fine for tractors without a cab. I have only had my 485 for a couple of weeks. I originally ordered the 448 but the dealer did not have any in stock and Deere converted all their 448 orders to 485.<br>

Not throwing off at any brand of tractor for anything man made has enough problems. But boy reading how many people have problem after problem with some of the legal products, it must be a nightmare with a Grey Market or do those people just undertand there is no or at very little support. Nah, it does not register I am sure unless they have been there before. I looked at one a few years ago and it took a while for it to fully register what all was being given up to buy a Grey Market.

One point I don't understand on the Grey Market, how so many people from a low income area can afford to trade tractors often enough there is such a supply to sell in the US and at so low a price. kt

It would seem a dealership and the company service tech would between the two know what is proper and what is not proper. You said you have 25 years experience as certified automotive mechanic so it would seem you would also know something in the mechanical world at same time you said the dealership (think it was the dealership) told you there were four with the same problem. Looked carefully at the wording you said was used: everything was to spec, that may not mean he did any kind of "road" test. It is possibly something tested proper on pressure or clearance or such and just does not work under load. If it would not start due to corroded battery terminals sure seems they did not run it to check or test anything.<br>

I would doubt another dealership would want to now look at the tractor. However if they would it might help.<br>

Try to track down the others and find out how their tractors are. If may be the four together have much better chance. I have a friend who considered suing a auto dealership and was told the only way her case stood a chance was to gather others into that had the same issue with the dealership to prove it was not just her. Does the dealership you purchased from sell any other brand? If so ask them on a trade and if they give any down side to your tractor ask them how that is possible since they and Mahrinda have both said it is to specs. Again ask, might be you need that recorded or a friend with you for the deal making conversation. <br>

Yes, that's the nature of a normal 2-cyl Yanmar.

Watch the gauge especially at startup, which is when a pressure problem is most likely, to see that the needle immediately starts climbing. Don't rev up or ask any work from the engine until it reaches normal, about 60 psi.

By all accounts the 955 is a pretty solid machine. I hope it wasn't stored outside in the burial ground for a lengthy period of time! My guess is it is too small to do any serious baling.

Hey, Tractorenvy The ex3200 looks more attractive in person,as for the front snowblower,..there where none shown in the attachments catalog,Sorry the 80 degree weather kept that question from surfacing..WE did not detatch the loader but the dealer assured me of less than 5 minutes...When I compared the ex3200 with the competitively priced Kubota b7800 the slightly larger 3200 was the better dollar value however It,s MTD.body construction and lack of user reviews drove Me to buy the well tried and true Kubota,..Mine was delivered yesterday! I am just waiting for some implements to be delivered and then " I'M gonna put this boy to work!..
PS why is it so damn tough to harvest a Big Buck in Maine?.

The Kioti 3054 clutch is identical to some Kubota models. Same clutch dia. etc. I had a customer who said kioti clutches were weak, so i set him up. I placed his old Kioti clutch pak next to an old Kubota clutch, and he couldn't tell the diff.

Depends upon which engine. Post the info you find on the engine plate (usually on the valve cover, sometimes on the side of the block)

Have a look at the McMaster-Carr site (see link below) and what you are looking for is part # 6094A31 which is item 'G' in the upper row of pictures.<br>

If that won't take them out clean, give up.<br>

Any good hardware place should have something similar, but watch out for the cheap alternatives, they don't have a place for your second hand, just a lever arm that will put a dent in the siding.<br>

I have a mitsubishi D2000 tractor. I sent the head to a machine shop to have the head checked out. I was told it needs new valves but I need some engine specifications. The block has raised letters reading K2 50404; also there are numbers stamped on the block reading 2-DR5-13242,under them numbers are numbers reading 1302. I found a book on the tractor from stormer tractors but the engine in the book is not the same engine I have. The book that I have is saying the engine is a KE-130-13B. I called Stormer tractor back but the guy told me that should be the engine in the tractor. Any information I could get would be greatly appreciated especially on the valve specifications. They are not the latest system but they have been a good system for years. I will repeat, they can be tough to keep syncronized if the wrong adjustments are made!

On older design units they often had o-rings on the pick-up tubes which would leak. You might find one sucking air where the person changing the engine didn't watch it close enough while changing components. They will take air in but not leak oil out!
