I own a Jiffy brand Ice Auger. (It's used for drilling holes in the ice, so that a fella can go fishing during the winter months.)

It's been a few years since I last started the thing up. While cleaning out the basement the other day, I decided that it might be time to give that ice auger a little exercise.

My little water pump also has a two-stroke engine, and it just so happens that the fuel-to-oil ratio is the same for both motors (24:1). So, I dumped in about a cup of fresh fuel, primed it with the primer bulb, turned on the switch, pulled the cord......and she purrs like a kitten.

We let it run for about 10 minutes, dumped out the fuel, then let the engine run until it died. I removed the spark plug, poured a bit of two-stroke oil into the cylinder, ran the piston to top-dead-center, and then put the spark plug back in. I'm guessing it's good for another few years.

I have no idea what make motor is on that JIffy ice auger, but I do like it. By the way, that ice auger was purchased in 1987. It's 21 years old now. I've never had the motor apart, nor the carburetor.

This is almost exactly what my TD95D is doing. It's in the shop getting the injector pump rebuilt right now.

I'm not yet convinced this is the problem yet but New holland told them to send the pump off next time it messes up on me.

The only thing I have been able to find out of ht eordinary is a solenoid on the inside of the pump is buzzing like crazy when the engine runs. I can hear it in the cab. The dealer mechanics didn't know what to think of that. It's not the fuel shutoff solenoid and I don't know what it does, but it's connected by linkage on the outside of the pump to a lever near the front of the pump. You can't move it by hand no matter how hard you try so something isn't right.

My problem has been intermittant for a little over a month now. It usually messes up after I fill up. It will run about 1-5 minutes then start smoking and dying out. when it stalls I get out, bleed the air out and it starts right up and runs fine for a couple more minutes.
When I called them this time to come and get it I had to stop and bleed it out almost 20 times to get back to the house. There is NO air leak and my filters are clean. I'm sure of that. I've been over that entire fuel system with the dealer mechanics out here twice now.

My 6 month old tractor is now in the shop getting the injector pump rebuilt probably thanks to the fuel. <br>

A month ago after I filled up the tank, it started smoking and stalling out on me. The fuel system had gone airbound and the filters were plugged solid with raspberry jelly looking junk. Those filters only had about 10 hours on them and it was the third time I had changed them. It was 105 degrees outside and my tank was clean as a whistle before this. I was using off road diesel from a reputable supplier too. I've never had problems with it before but something got into their tank. It had to. <br>

Now I have a field full of alfalfa ready to cut and bale and a field full of bermuda ready also and no tractor. It's only got 200 hours on it and I'm really ticked off at this. It took the dealership a month to decide to pull th epump off and have it rebuilt while I've been stuck here with a barely running tractor. It was running fine for a while then all of a sudden went to crap. Usually after I filled up each time. There is no more gel looking stuff in my system and everything is clean now but it's just barely able to get out of it's own way now. <br>

I just hope it gets back real fast. My tractor payment depends on this cutting of hay and they know it. Everyone all the way up the chain of command in that company knows it. It was built after the switch to ULSD and was even made to run on B100 which costs 10 bucks a gallon down here. You would think it would be able to last more than 200 hours before trashing the pump. <br>

Thankfully I haven't had any problems with my 97 F250 powerstroke. Yet. They have a good injection system on them. Of all the brands of diesel pickup engines I've worked on over the years the PS has been the most reliable. Mostly thanks to no injection pump to mess up. <br>

FWIW, I have always kept power service in my transfer tank at the recommended amount as stated on the bottle. I have a filter on my pump and I've drained off the bottom of the tractor tank about every 2 months since I've owned it. This is just ridiculous considering how well I take care of my new tractor.

the time has come for me to purchase my first tractor. looking at a L5040 with loader box blade and brush hog, both 6' in width. was hoping one of you would know what a fair price for something like this might be. i dont know alot about them and just want to get the best deal that i can. any info about this or what to do or not do after i get the machine would be great.<br>

Jinma has had several "dash" arrangements over the years. Given the info you've provided so far, I don't expect many helpful responses will be forthcoming. <br>

So; <br>
Does your Jinma have individual (round) gauges - a rectangular instrument cluster - or the new style oval cluster? <br>
Are there any numbered labels on the wires?<br>
Have you consulted the wiring diagram in your operations and maintenance manual? (there's one in the parts manual too).<br>
You said there are white connectors on one end of those two wires. What's on the other end? <br>
And have you considered that the seemingly inoperative green light might be related to the pair of disconnected wires?<br>

TC24daman, its been the best thing I've bought in a long time , sorry I just saw your post, it digs great , I'm glad it has the extra subframe,with the 4 point hook up vs. the three point arms , its powerful for what it is , no problems yet , I dug out a hillside two weeks ago on a 88 degree day , flawless performance , I dug out a 12x22 section 5ft high , it took 18 small dump truck loads of dirt to clear it , I have nothing but praise for the backhoe , Craig.

Now do you think you could be just as vehement in telling me something useful?

Another site suggested the injector pump leaked diesel through a failed seal. Any thoughts?

We used to go to flea markets but always brought home a bunch of stuff we didn't need so don't go any more. There always seems to be too much stuff to get rid of anyway. My wife has the "gotta have it" bug, if she likes it she's gotta have it.

Thanks all.

Was just thinking about it this morning over coffee. The throwout bearing shaft, the shaft that the clutch pedal linkage hooks up to, does not move at all. In fact, it is in the pedal depressed position so that the clutch start safety switch is depressed (although as mentioned earlier, for some reason the tractor won't key start, but I can jumper start at the starter.).
And, there is no clutch as it grinds when you try to shift gears.

I know in my old Volkswagon's when the clutch or pressure plate had a problem, the throw out arm still moved, you just couldn't feel anything as I mentioned before.

I know it's a second time around on what you think the problem may be, but just wanted to be sure all the facts were known for analysis (or re-analysis.).

Morf, I understand exactly what your saying on the FEL. And to both you and Art, I will do this on my concrete driveway, and will block the front wheels. Was going to block under the rear of the engine using jack stands so it wouldn't fall. Was also debating about leaving the brush hog on the rear in order to keep the rear stable, although it might make for difficulty when we assembling.

Again, thanks to you both for your knowledge and insight. Art, do you give Tractorpoint friends a good deal on parts?

These were made in the early-mid 80s. A dealer could probably find the production year if supplied with the serial number.

I bought the Mahindra 2015HST in October 2007 brand new from Wilsons Tractor in Dade City, FL. From the very first beginning the tractor would stop moving under load and inclines. The engine RPM drops maybe 50 to 100 rpm, but the wheels stop turning. It appears like the hydraulic fluid is passing by internally. The tractor now has only 50hrs of use. When I took it first to the dealer, they just sold me a $300.00 service on it and never even aknowledged the problem. Just brushed me off. I took it back to Wilsons a week later, this time their technician realized there's a problem with the tractor. They got on the phone with Mahindra, and about 3 weeks later they got finally the OK to replace the whole transmission. After the 4th week I finally got the call to pick up the tractor. When I got to the dealer, I tested the tractor and guess what?? The same problem was still there. So I left the tractor with them again and called Mahindra. They did their best to brush me off on the phone telling me that's a problem between me and the dealer. The dealer also told me that there are so far 4 other cases identical to the problem with my tractor. To me it seems like there's a design flaw internally and Mahindra tries to figure out what to do. Meanwhile I don't have my tractor, going into the 5th week now. I believe that the dealer and Mahindra are trying to brush me off. I am going to speak to a lawyer next week. At this point I don't even want my tractor anymore, just my money back so I can buy something that works.<br>
If there's anybody else with the same problem, please contact me ASAP. The problem won't go away, even if Mahindra can patch and bandaid the defective machine for a while. And one day the warranty runs out and All I have left is a pretty red colored boat ancor.

When Joel is saying little heat he does not mean a little hand help propane torch for soldering copper lines. He is referring to more than that. Been there, tryied that. Welding/cutting torch heat works. You need to heat the pully and not the shaft and heat it all around the shaft. Also large gear puller with rust penetrating oil may work. Don't forget, heated pully will be hot to handle. Been there also. kt
