After 6 months if you haven't found someone who has one, the chances are pretty slim you ever will.

As for a $15k dozer, I'd take a old used machine for that money over a brand new import every day of the week.

Greg,
It turned out to be a 3 or 5 amp fuse (can't remember which). It's the 2nd fuse up from the bottom, on the left. That is also the perfect fuse to take out to keep someone from stealing it if you leave it parked somewhere! It won't go anywhere.

Brush guards protect the front of the tractor from brush and also from stuff (like pieces of firewood, rocks, etc) falling rearward out of the bucket. They aren't necessary but you need to weigh the risk and expense of repairing any damage. They also aren't foolproof, they won't protect from hitting a branch straight on or stuff falling out of the bucket onto the hood when the loader is raised high.

It is not necessary to get a replacement bearing or seal from Yanmar. Bearings and seals are generic in nature, and apply to to many different products and equipment items. You only need the numbers off of your bearing and seal. If you didn't save the bearing and seal, it won't be easy to find a replacement without exact measurements.

Go to any good bearing and drive supplier. Take your bearing and seal with you. More than likely, they'll be able to find you an exact match, even if made by a different manufacturer.

I spent many years repairing equipment. I have never run across a bearing that couldn't be replaced with one made by a company other than the OEM........and almost always at great savings.

The biggest issue with the TS is that the carb on the FE290 engine is nearly always set too lean to handle the California lawn equipment smog rules. If your power is lacking, ie. stumbling and no poop, from start to about a quarter throttle, you need to increase your pilot jet size. If the power is lacking from 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, then you need to increase the main nozzle size. If the power is lacking at 3/4 to full throttle then you need to increase the main jet size.

If you can find a local Kawpower dealer, they will stock the different jets needed. Because jetting is dependent on altitude and climate, I can make no size recommendations for your area.

If you go to buykawpower.com, the official Kawasaki engine distributor's site, you can follow the parts links to your engine designation. If I remember correctly, John Deere is what is referred to as a SSO or self servicing OEM. So, just select an engine in your model sequence without the SSO suffix, and you can find a good parts diagram.

Then take a look at the control systems and you will find the governor. If you move the governor spring closer to the fulcrum you can increase your available RPM's. Just keep in mind that this is an industrial engine, so do not exceed the current governor limit by much. But, a good jetting job and small tweak to the governor makes a huge difference in usable power.

Regarding your clutch. Go to a snowmobile dealer and pick up a can of Comet Clutch Lube. Then lube the sliding parts, but nothing that the belt touches, with that lube and let it dry. Use no other lube, the Comet lube is a spray molly lube that drys and is specifically made for the belt drive torque converter systems and anything with graphite or oil will create problems.

The gas gator uses a Kawasaki engine. The governor arm and tension spring are found under the triangular cover into which the throttle cable is connected.

All that is necessary to increase the engine operating range is to relocate the tension spring hole farther toward the fulcrum of the governor arm, and that will reduce the spring tension and increase RPM.

Be real careful. These are industrial engines and should not be taken above 3,850 rpm for very long periods.

If you are going to modify the governor, I seriously recommend you invest in a Tiny Tach and get it installed before you start tweaking.

Does anyone know where the plate is on the Kawasaki engine for the optional oil filter kit? I have a 2002 4x2 TS Gator, and want to add the optional oil filter kit, and it says all I have to do is remove the blank plate on the engine and bolt the filter assembly on. I can't find it!<br>

If you'e handy with a welder, consider making one yourself. A used forklift mast pull-back cylinder can be had for about $25. TSC has new cylinders for about $60-$80. You'll need about 8" of travel, which has worked well for many years for me.

Whack off the pivot/swivel ends from your old top link or buy new ends from TSC and weld them to the cylinder ends. DO NOT use the yoke or clevis ends on the cylinders! They are made to be stiff from a side-loading perspective--the toplink MUST be able to freely swing in all directions AT BOTH ENDS!

Just like sliced bread, Post-It Notes, and cell phones...once you have a power toplink you'll wonder how you ever got along without one.

My response may be too obvious and you may have already tried this but you did not mention it.

Lift your hydraulics all the way up, and then try to change your dial. If you leave it on 4 overnight, the MMM and your 3pt will gradually lower and when the MMM lowers to your mower setting the weight prevents you from moving the dial until you raise it all the way up again.

As to the MMM not seeming to lower beyond the 4 setting, check your hydraulic governor. There should be a dial that allows the hydraulics a fast release or slow release. If it set for too slow of a release, your hydraulics may not go beyond a certain point.

It maybe something simple as a loose body panel. My 40hp 3cyl Century, (same maker as your Banson or Zetor) Has a rattle. After 200 Hours of use, I love this machine.

I traded my B7800 to a L3240 last week. The dealer didn't have one in stock so he was to get one from another dealer. Stopped by Thursday to see if he had it. He told me he just unloaded a new one off the truck sitting outside in the driveway rather than get one that had sat out on a lot for awhile. I'll be out of town for a week so it's ok and rather have a just birthed one. He showed it to me in the crate . Looks small with no wheels or attachments!!! So my new L3240HST LA724FEL and Ind tires is delivered but waiting to be dressed and filled before coming home. Even though it's my 5th Kubota purchase in 4 years I'm a little anxious to get on it, belt in and go!!! Also starting to heat up outside so told him to add a cover to the top.

Don't forget to check the obvious stuff too.

Things like a plugged debris screen in front of the radiator, or a rad clogged with weed seeds will make them boil over pretty quick too.

Frank that would be great any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am not worried about John Deere as far as the copyright issue. I am going to make the decals that are very similar but not exact. I will actually post the finish product on here when I get finished. I just basically need to know the sizes of the markings on the Gator so I know how much room I have to work with, compared to the originals.

I have done the same thing for many of the locals tractors in the area I live in. Very cool, modifications, but still maintain the integrity of the John Deere name.

More than likely, the electric clutch is just out of adjustment. The discs of the clutch are spring loaded and adjustment can be made with (3) shoulder/stripper bolts. You use a feeler gauge. I've forgotten the gage setting. Either ask your local dealer repairman or check with them on line. .017" seems to be the number, but am not for sure. If the gap is too tight, it won't shut off. Too wide it won't engage. When it is close to being to wide, it will work when cold and then will not restart when hot.

How long? Don't no, nor would I care to guess.

We use the FEL to lift the front end then slide a pair of jack stands under each end of the front axle and lower the tractor onto them.

A jack can easily slip, using the FEL to lift and lower the front end eliminates the possibility of a slipped jack, and keeps you well clear of any danger while it's moving.

I wish I could help you, but I'm not at all familiar with the M4050 Kubota tractor.

On the smaller Kubotas, the hydraulic oil screen is located just ahead of the right rear wheel, about even with the Mid Mount PTO shaft. It is slightly difficult to identify, as it appears to be just another bolt, but it is actually the head of the filter element.
