I may have some left in the barn, I will check as I don't recall what it was called. It is NH oil and the dealer I purchased it from is Jennings in Fairport 585 223 4056, so give them a call and the parts man can tell you.

I would be willing to bet that Amsoil makes something compatible as well.

MMM is mid mount mower, sorry for the confusion, thought I was being cool using the tricky abreviations! The tractor is 4 wheel drive. I thought it was a little high, but it is close by, seems to be well maintained. I am a little worried about the tractor being underpowered with 17 hp. Is this a legitimate concern? I need the tractor to rototill, use a post hole digger and move some rocks around. Thanks for any help!<br>

I don't understand "<i>tear this thing down</i> ". Nothing I've described so far involves separating the tractor. To achieve that 0.15mm gap I mentioned involves nothing more complicated than adjusting the overall length of the external clutch lever pull rod. The only thing you'd "<i>tear down</i> would be a cotter key, a washer, and a retaining pin.<br>

About buying parts; I wouldn't recommend arbitrarily buying individual clutch components for a 22 year old TaiShan - without a guarantee from Chip that they're 100% compatible. And I'm not sure he's in a position to be able to offer that kind of guarantee. If in fact it turns out that you ACTUALLY NEED need clutch repair, I believe a whole new clutchpack would be the solution. Even then you have to determine - at a minimum - overall diameter, spline counts, shaft diameter <br>

I had a 430 loader and i replaced the seals in it. On mine about 1/2 inch or so from each end it had something soft like putty in it and if you dig that out it had a metal ring that goes all the way around inside the tube. If yours is like this find something about the same size and start pushing it until it comes out one side and then pull it with vice grips. Take your time and you will have cylinders as good as new when you are finished. I can't remember for sure it may even have a raised up part when you find then soft putty and you may be able to get something under that and start it out. Hope this helps.

I have always been reluctant to put anything on the leather seats in my cars and the furniture in the house. But recently I had a change of heart on the leather stuff in the house since it is pretty dry from burning wood all winter.<br>

My wife likes Ekornes scandinavian leather furniture so I thought I would buy the stuff recommended by the store at a ridiculous price of $30 per bottle. It seemed ok, so I tried it on my car seats. Hmmmmmm! Confined to the small space of a car with the windows closed, even after a couple of weeks the leather conditoner still makes my car smell like cat pee. Yikes!<br>

So I decided to look for a product targeted at cars. After some research I came across "Tanners Preserve", they have a separate cleaner and another for the conditioner. I heard that that the cleaner smelt good, and that it did not make the seats look cheesy by making them "shiny".<br>

I just applied the cleaner and then the conditioner and the product has very little oder, and what there is is not at all offensive. After applying my seats look more like show room new, ie. they are more consistent in color, and not shiny. Awesome, much better than I had hoped. And so far the smell of the other stuff is gone.<br>

Anyway, I give this product an excellent rating. Walmart used to sell it, but I had to go to an Auto Parts store to buy it.<br>

PS. I tried Tanners Preserve on my Ecco leather shoes, yup works great! I hadn't been taking good care of them and I had some scuffs in the oiled finish. Look great now.

Not only are hydraulic systems with leaks to be wary of, but also, common every-day things like high-pressure air lines wich can inject air bubbles into the blood stream when they cut flesh open; a power washer which can inject water/soap into the blood AND cut flesh (did it twice on my palm and finger--DOH!); and high-pressure power painting systems which can cut the skin AND inject paint into the blood. All of these can result in bad infections, or brain damage/death just by the fluids alone not to mention ambient bacteria along for the ride.

Joel, I know what you meant but just for clarity:

Not quite the case--a genuine PTO pump isn't made to withstand the higher engine RPMs. However, there are 2000 RPM PTO-type pumps. BUT, why spend the money over-building that when if you had a 7-10 GPM surplus pump lieing around you could with some rubber-isolated couplers and shafting go out the front. If you had to.

But forget all that. Keeping in mind I haven't had my 9N for about 6 years but...if memory serves, the 9N/2N/8N were already outfitted from the factory with pipe plugs in the bottom of the pump pan area ready to be tapped into. I forget the volume, likely very low, but it's there perfect for his purposes. There are factory-issued pictures on the net showing how to do it too. Dealers have the same info too.

But I'm jis' sayin'

Based on your email, I understand the hardware you have is what bolts to the tractor frame (i.e. axle/drive-train housing). The references in the shop manuals are always to the Kubota tool kit and its nomenclature. Don't worry about it, any gauge with a maximum scale of about 3,000 psi will work just fine.

I suspect you're right about the pipe thread size, but it might be safer to just park the machine, and remove the plug and take it with you to get the bits & pieces. Be aware, this is a Japanese machine, the fittings could be metric sizes, which is likely why the reference to the 'adapter', it likely takes it from a metric hole to an imperial sized pipe thread.

All you need is a gauge (about $10) and a hose long enough (and strong enough to hold the pressure obviously) to be able to sit in the operators seat and watch it.

It still sounds to me though like a machine that just needs a good work-out. When the GST sits too long without shifting they get sticky.

I own a L245Dt. It does not have an independent or 2-stage clutch. It's pretty basic. My model appears to be a late 70's. Perhaps they added that feature later in the run, however I'm not aware of this.

Bill, After I had posted I remembered your link :). Yes...having fun and being busy. My welding is really improving, one thing that helped was a "cheater" lens for my welding hood. Now I can actually see my weld in progress.

Learned that his plans are for his cylinders. IF you use the cheaper clevis ends Like I am, at 1/2 the cost. Be prepared to change the fabrication as you progress. I needed to relocate the 1" pin hole for the lower cylinder attachment point for the boom about 1" higher. Now doing the other end of the boom and I will make the cut and 30 deg angle when I make sure the rest is like its suppose to be...

So I;m looking at perhaps 2 more weeks. The weather here is really turning nice, I have lots to do outside. Helps to be retired, but not bored. Thanks for your help. BG in Iowa

LWayne; I do understand where you're coming from on the danger to property from the chute pointing at breakable things. For years before we retired from the farm I had a 100 HP tractor with an eight foot blower on the back and a Westendorf loader with an eight foot snow bucket on the front, absolute cat's meow, but be real carefull which way the chute is pointed. Right now I have a FEL and a box blade on the back of the Baby Deere, (4310). I was so spoiled by the blower on the farm tractor that I was determined to get a five foot blower for the little Deere. BUT, at 3,500. bucks, I decided to hire the neighbor with his big blower for a hundred bucks a winter, I may have to give him a bonus for this winter, he was there somtimes twice a week. Frank.

There aren't English manuals for your tractor. I supply manuals for the closest domestic model.If it has a problem with the electric over hydraulics, this isn't covered in any English manuals.
