No salt problem here at least on the gravel roads. I used to get lots of free dirt form the county when they cleaned ditches. It did have some beer cans and a bit of crushed rock that the snowplows pushed in the ditch mixed in, but aside from that it was good topsiol that had washed into the ditches during a high water epesode. No free dirt anymore here, now they haul it to the county landfill and cover the layers of garbage with it, a zillion tons of good Iowa topsiol gone forever. Frank.

I would find a manual. They can be real helpful.
Looking at Agco's web page failed to find specs on this model. But the models that seem to follow it show a mechanical and electical hyd as option. They would place a decal and it probably means you are not seeing it. Which makes me think you will find it is a small lever to the right rear of your seat. If it were the mechanical lever, would think you would find it. Have not sat on an Agco product built in last 15 years but have seen pto levers on the left side of the transmission and think even one on top of it. If you are not use to PTO use, be sure you depress the clutch when engaging and disengage if you have the mech type and slowing engage as with any manual gear. If you have the hyd type, the manuals I have read say to engage it slowly also. Hope you enjoy the tractor safely. kt

To many technical writers all seals are probably oil seals. Oil seals usually have extra lips for additional sealing power where dirt seals don't. Obviously I could be wrong but it explains what the OP is seeing.

That is a good idea, some sites call that a "sticky" so it stays at the top of the cue. I will have to study how I can code that.

Keep in mind that: why would he give you few thousand less than someone else who comes in and buy a new one for a few thousand more?

After all, they have to make $2000 or more just to pay sales commissions, profits, taxes, insurance, utilities, payroll, overhead, on and on. They don't want to be in a situation where they make nothing or worse, PAY a dollar to get rid of it. And if you overpaid to begin with you're in even worse shape from trading in as it is worth even less.

Also, if CNH or any financers are offering great rates like zero percent on loans then a buyer will spring for a new one since yours is not new and the interest rate jumps big-time.

I ran into this when I wanted to buy a TC33D. The dealer was going to be taking one in on trade, a two year old TC33D and told me I could just buy it directly from the seller rather than going through the dealer. The only ones that would have benifitted from the transaction were the dealer who didn't have to touch it and the seller who got what he wanted.

I ran the numbers and it cost me $14 a month more for a brand new one versus buying old. The two year old one was $16,500 with FEL and MMM. I paid $13,500 OTR w/o FEL and MMM. And because I used my brother-in-law's Ford Employee Discount I saved over $3200 too.

The dealer already knows you want a new machine and probably has already given you a price. Is it the best price? Dunno. The dealers do have the car equivalent of a "blue book"---ask to see it. If they won't let you--walk away. My dealer always lets me see the book--it's "good bidness"

That's the nice thing about the Ford Discount---the dealer HAS to show you what he pays for it. I got the discount on my skid steer too (which they didn't have to give me--the discount doesn't apply to yellow contruction equipment) which came out to about $8200 discount. The next skid steer discount was about $13,000. This one's a "keeper" so I don't see any discounts in my future.

No problem, just takes a different technique. Since there's no hand primer, you'll just have to use the starter motor. As before, loosen the fuel filter. Make sure the valve above the sediment bowl is open (that lets fuel out of the tank). Put the tractor in neutral and set the brake. Crank till you get fuel spilling out the top of the filter.

If that works, we'll move on to priming the high pressure side. If it doesn't, tthere's a problem with fuel flow on the low pressure side

The JD 955 has two oil fill caps, they both go the engine oil sump pan. So if your engine oil is correct on the dipstick you are all set. The engine is used in other applications where the valve cover is not accessable.

Northern tractors are shipped ready to use. Shipping is usually free. Their assembled by the company in Minnesota. 60 hp and above are Fotons. I think the small tractors are Jinmas. PJ

Still working on the backhoe buy, but need your expertise on a Kubota problem, the glowplug light stays on all the time. The tractor starts up easy everytime even when the temps dop into the 20's over night. What puts the light out, is it a certian temp at the glowplug or a time period after the key is turned on?

As an answer to your question, generally your time savings is more signifigant with a zero turn mower than a lawn tractor. A prime example is a customer who mows roughly an acre, and with a lawn tractor it is almost two hours and with the zero turn the cutting time was reduced to about 45 minutes. Alot depends on the amount of area you are mowing and your terrain. You also seem to get better cut quality as less weight is on the front wheels therefore it does not compact the grass as much prior to cutting it. Think of it this way.

With the exception of the auto clutch system for the GST option, the trans is basically a regular 8 speed manual gearbox with a clutch.

If you know much about things mechanical you know the power can't get from the crankshaft to the TX without going through the clutch. Now, the most power a machine makes in it's lowest gears, so if the clutch is weak, it will give first under the most load, namely working hard in lower gears.

Yours passes that test, your mother in law can attest to that, thankfully. ;)

If you are going to try working it in a bit over the weekend, try giving all of the visible mechanism a good soaking with some sort of penetrating oil first.

I thought I would let you all know that I decided on a RODA MINI spreader. They come with a poly floor and box and are built about 4 hours from here in IA. the 25 bushel is $1400 and the 50 bushel is $1950. Going down to look at them tomorrow. If they are as advertized I will bring one home.

Well it was warm and sunny today so I decided to go home early to play with my new toy. I was happy with the way the grader performed but not crazy with how it worked with the small atv. So off with the loader and backhoe and on with the grader. What a differance this thing was even better than I thought. I offset the grader to be slightly wider than the back tire. It worked great right up to the fence and curb with know problem. The tractor pulled it with no trouble no traction issues no problems period. This only reaffirmed my choice of the 33 over the larger 35 or 40. it's powerful enough to do all I ask but small enough to be very nimble in tight spots. I forgot just how nimble it was since I keep the loader on 99% of the time. Thanks for all the info.

You would be amazed how popular they are here. Some for the winter and some for the summer heat. When you get to 100 hp up tractors many are cab tractors.

Sometimes I disk fields at night. It is such at great place of worship with the sky overhead and listening to God critters ever over the tractors engine or just watching them as the headlights catch them now and then.

Then I get in the field on a hot sunny day of about 100 degrees with not a cloud in the sky and think, boy air sure would be nice. kt

I like the CaseIH Hytran for colder climates or the Super UDT fom Kubota. The Ultra Hytran is about a 10 to fifteen weight vs a 30 weight that is standard for most generic hydraulic fluids. Super UDT is just a bit thinner yet at about a 5 weight.
