Beagle, my dedicated medium-sized backhoe loader had the same issue when I changed the swing cylinder hoses to larger diameter ones also getting rid of the small, seemingly restrictive fittings at the cylinder (couldn't figure out why they used 1/4" ID). Well, I had to reinstall the restrictive fittings to slow it back down.
Without the restrictions I could slide the machine sideways just by jerking and stopping the hoe quickly---not the kind of thing you want to do digging a 10' trench! And I save money on keeping a stock of baby wipes and spare undies in the truck : )

Franky as you know, I'm your kids' age--sooooooo I'll let you "teach" me how to weld, 'k? Buuuut the deal is I git a welder too--a nice one---for Christmas--or sooner. I don't actually have to "be there" for you to teach me LOL. We'll call it "long distance learning."

Seriously though, I would indulge them as much as possible--I see it as an investment in their future. 14 is about the age (I know you can't remember back that far) where learning is critical and makes a long and lasting impression not only of what a great grampa they have but that they can possibly build a future on it. That said, and it sounds like you have the moola, I'd take Harvey's advice and go with a TIG too. I've done production MIG and TIG when I was 18 or 20 and it was easy--IF you have the right equipment. But Like Harvey said about purty welds and NO penetration, it can be a learning experience turn-off if the experience is a bad one. Portable, self-employed welders in my area get $50 an hour.

I can arc weld but don't have the patience to really do it right.

thanks for the info, i was afraid if i bought this i would not be able to have it repaired or find parts. just curious do you know what a oil filter cost or air filter. thanks
i do know that the engine is a 2 cylinder, thats about for now.
after i see it i will get more data to get your advice on the engine.
this tractor comes with front loader and a grader blade.

Many Jinmas were shipped with "half remote" it is an alternative flow of the oil that would normally be supplied to the 3 point lift cylinder. The 304 is not known for high hydraulic flows so I doubt a hydraulic motor would be very usefule, a dump cylinder might be. I noticed you are in Arkasas, what part? we are in Clarksville, I-40 exit 58 if we can help.

Bill or someone else with a Caddigger under their belt. I've got the backend or frame done except for the stabilizers or outriggers. Is there any time when the adjustment on the side to side leveling has not been sufficient? I need to cut them next the plans say 22 inches, and the way the holes are drilled it looks like that would give you 12 inches of adjustment.
I understand that the 3 point has no downward pressure, other than the weight that is one it, so perhaps this is a moot point.

BTW never got a reply back from John at Cadplans, MetKit, one in the same. He does not want to sell just the 30 degree side plates, or the plans. Or in other words... if you pay for the plans, and want the Super Boom which is a design correction, you must purchase the entire Super Boom kit from him, plus a lot of money for UPS shipping to you. If like me, you already bought the steel and rest locally, you're screwed.

I just got a nice pre-built curved back Bush Hog, new 13" deep profile bucket off ebay. I won't tell the price here, but 1/2 the price of a new regular one to my door!!! :).

Thanks for the suggestions and info. I'm not too up on hydraulic systems and function, but it sounds like I could
reduce the line diameter of the opposite side of the power angle (the dump side of the bucket). Murph suggests an adjustable "line throttle valve", thats some words that I"m just not familiar with. Is that something like a manual ball valve? Where would I get one and where would be the easiest/best place to install it?

I questioned the return policy many times and was assured it is a no hassle policy if I am not happy for whatever reason i can return it. They give you six months to try and return and encourage you to use it to see if it will work. I really think it will be ok for my application.My one consern is pulling with my atv. I hope it works due to manueverability. They say 14hp required I have 15hp. This is not a huge deal I can always use the tractor. I plan on trying it as soon as I get it and will report back.

The picture is a schematic of the FEL and Rear Remote circuit. The rear remote valves are plumbed in series with the FEL valve. It is extemely imporatant to make sure you complete the Power Beyond circuit properly. The hydraulic system in the tractor is Open Center, which means you always ahve to have by-pass flow through the Power Beyond. It is also necessary to power the 3-point hydraulics.

The hook up is very simple. The Power Beyond port on the FEL valve has the return to the tractor hydraulic block on the right side of the transmission. You are adding the rear remote valves in series, off of this line. The Power Beyond line that now goes to the tractor block will be re-routed to the "in" side of the rear remote valve. The Power Beyond from the rear remote valve now goes to the return port on the trator hydraulic block. The "out" port of the rear remote valve "tees" into the "out" line of the FEL valve, or can be plumbed directly to the reservoir return on the tractor.

If I remeber right, the return port of the tractor hydraulic block is the port towards the rear of the tractor on the hydraulic block.

It may sound messy in words, but once you follow it a couple times, I think it will be straight forward.

Let me know if you have any other questions. We put top-n-tilt systems on a lot of tractors. Once you have it, tough to go without.

Thanks for the heads-up, Nelson. I'm looking for a replacement, and New Holland just went from the top of my list of possibilities to the bottom. They make a fine tractor, but all tractors will need maintenance and servicing, and I like to do whatever I can myself.

i worked for ford/newholland/and now case newholland.i installed many hydraulic top links.you can get a kit almost from every dealership.pricey.i built my own.very easy.alittle messy but much cheaper.i suggest northern hydraulics/tisco/

[/QUOTE] I have two MF 1455 compacts. I bought one new with the shuttle transmission, the other used with gear transmission. I have had better service from the gear version. The shuttle model seems to eat cluches. If you buy used, check all the bearings for play as well as the clutch and break pads. If taken care of, used is sometimes better as long as service was provided and can be proved. The 0% for 3 to 5 years is also a good deal they are having now on new models. Depends on if you have the cash for a good used one or need to finance. If financing, I would go new.

Agree that "snap" noise probably not related. Disassembled Main pump and it looks good (inspected by mechanical engineer/pump repair expert - my wife =). Starts fine; not much ice in North TX. Will probably look at check values bet. Main and inlets to Trans.

Hi jorgie first off is the blade mounted on the tractor now.if it is a honda 60in dozer blade. flip the lever lock on the quick hitch back away from the blade pull the 2 pins and drop the quick hitch from the tractor then drive over the mower deck to hook it up if it is a honda m mower go to hondatractorheaven.com under information all the manuals are there for the blade quick hitch and mower deck and it explains how to mount and unmount to the tractor the 3 point hitch raises the mower deck on my site i have a 60 in honda mower for the 6522 you can look to see if it is the one you got look under inventory hope this helps travis.holmes@ns.sympatico.ca

Diesel engines run hot, and those that are stationary or in off-road equipment can't depend on air-flow for cooling as in fast-moving vehicles. So they have robust cooling systems, which, unless there's a defect, keep the coolant, well, cool, making you wonder if you have a lazy temp gauge.

thanks for responding:: i have cleand my tansmision filter and canged my transmissin hydraulic fluid but it still holds a good amount of water .. changed it 3 times and still milky but should work.. i only looked at the hose conections and they dont seem to be leaking, HOWEVER i did see what looked like small water/oil bubles coming out of one of the large rams wile the bucket was held at its highest point. i saw this when i was bumping the lift controler in a attempt to bleed the system.. it looks like the rams may have a small bleed hole or maybe a hole has rusted through..the ram has a grove/ring cut into the ram with a notch/flat spot.it looks to me like the ram is joined and threded or snap ringed together at this point.. i cleaned and scraped the rust/dirt to see if it is a factory blead hole or maybe a crack but really could not tell.
i don`t know for sure if it has a opencenter hydralic system with self bleeding or not. it is a yanmar 240d the transission and hydrolics run off the same fluid. the Yanmar 240 has the same system as the JD-650 AND JD-750 and uses JD-303 Fluid.. you also said somthing about blow packing in the lift cylinder or control lever needing adjustment. how do i adjust this?? and what is blow packing??
please explain... i hate to ask so many dumb questions but how do i check and clean the circut relief valve and whare is it?? .... as if you coldnt tell i know very little about tractors and hydralics so please be patient .. . .

ohhh BTW i bought a (EXTRA) high pressure cap. i bought this cap just for ermergencys, in case i blow a hydralic line i can cap it off and limp my tractor back to the house.. can i use this cap to truble shoot my hydralics by narrowing down the problem and bypassing a few of the hoses one at a time ...

Thanks EW. I rather use arc than mig. I never had any experience with the 110V units but due to minimal use & portability, I have some interest. Still, I would hate to buy only to find out it is a useless piece of equipment.

In my past life [now retired] I worked installing natural gas underground piping systems and am used to Lincoln AC/DC mounted welding units. I wasn't a welder but worked alongside them so I have just enough knowledge to get myself in trouble.:-)
