Just wondering how your retirement wood shop worked out?<br>
Did you manage to keep the "real" equipment? Three phase and all? I'm a custom woodworker in MASS. Very tough times here.

Logan; Welcome to the board, we are a pretty diverse group, meaning that no one of us knows it all, but as a group we usally get things figured out. I'm basicly a John Deere person, but do have a tractor,(4310) that is just a bit bigger than your Kubota 3010, and a model 48 John Deere backhoe attachment to fit it. Depending on the size of backhoe you need would determine whethwer you need the bigger model tractor to put it on. Backhoes are built in most any size to fit tractors from smaller than your Dad's on up.
The difference between a frame mount hoe and a three point hitch mount hoe is, A three point hitch mounmt is just what ut says, the backhoe is mounted on the three point hitch of the tractor, and a frame mount hoe is attached to a subrframe that usually stays on the tractor whether the backhoe is on or off. Frame mount hoes are a more solid way of attaching a backhoe than a three point hitch, plus three point hitches can be easily damaged by the abnormal stress placed on them by the leverage that a backhoe can generate. I know that Kubota builds backhoes, but I'm not sure if they produce a frame mount model for your tractor. In my book a matched brand set, meaning for example a Kubota frame mount backhoe on a Kubota tractor, or John Deere frame mount backhoe on a John Deere tractor, etc. are always the best system. With the "Matched Brand" situation the backhoe was engeneered to properly fit the tractor, the hydraulic system of the backhowe was designed to be the right size and capacity to fit the tractor, etc. Perhaps the dealer you got kind of a brushoff from was having a bad day or was already late for something, so maybe give him another chance. If he is still in kind of a brushoff mood just leave and find another dealer that you are comfortable with. Kind of an old saying, "If you don't like the dealer you arent't going to like the tractor". Best of luck. Frank

Thank you all! Got it going and now it runs fine. It looks like it was a combination of the cold weather (gelled fuel probably) and something clogging the lines - gelled fuel maybe? The weather got much warmer, and that's when we started on the lines.

Anyway, we are totally new to tractors and bought this one used without knowing anything, and without a manual, so you guys have saved us much time and money. Thanks again.

Unless I'm missing something, it won't back up because you can't get the shifter into reverse, so the shift linkage is where I'd start.<br>

As for why at the end of the driveway, they somethimes do that out of spite if you let the fluids get too low.

The 55 series have an adjustable eyebolt that connects to the return spring. You may e able to adjust the tension on the spring to help. More likely, the pivot on the link that attaches to the other end of the spring is probably sticking. There is a grease fitting on this pivot point, but they are notorious for not getting greased often enough because it is pretty well hidden. You will probably need to disassemble this pivot point, clean and lube it then reassemble. This same pivot is mounted on an eccentric bushing that adjusts neutral.

funny you should mention that, because... my local Bobcat dealer is also a Kioti dealer. I asked the saleman if they were made by the same company since I thought it was to coincidental that everything on this lot now had roots in Korea. Anyways, he said no. I didnt have enough info to argue with him. But, it could have been an honest mistake because the tractors hadnt been on the lot long enough for the saleguys to know much about them.

I wouldn't go much past 200 hours without pulling it out. I did mine at 200 and it was full of shavings and this was AFTER the 50 hour service. You need to get that stuf out of there.

True story! And I laugh when I hear them say it because the American's first response is "Oh! I'm sorry" not even realizing that they were just spoken to---in perfect english.

Gotta love 'em ('cause we can't send 'em back home...yet)

At home, because I burn in an airtight insert with a clear glass door, not a more industrial burner, I only burn wood that has been cut and split for 1+ full years.

I'm also lucky enough that I have a very generously sized 2 car garage attached to the house, it's big enough that I can stack 4 full (bush) cords of wood inside and still put 2 cars in no problem, although I rarely have more than 2.5 cords in there.

Since with a fire burning almost every day (when we're there) from 8am till 8pm we only go through a little under a full cord, I've always got lots of really dry wood on hand.

What I do is in the spring or summer, move the 'leftover' wood from the previous winters cord which was in a single straight row 5' high along one of two side walls to a small stack near the door, then put the 'fresh' wood in that location. Then that fall I burn the wood stacked against the opposite wall.

I never have a moisture or rotted wood problem since the garage is well-ventilated and the door is open a lot anyways.

At the farm the wood is all just stacked in boxes made from 1" x 3" on top of pallets. Those bins full of wood are stacked on the raised floor of a shed which has no walls, just a tin roof with wide overhangs like Harvey mentioned. As wood is required, it is moved, box at a time, by means of forks on FEL of a tractor to near the door or into the garage of whichever building needs the wood. Even there though the wood is always more than a year old before it's burnt.

The aluminum cutting I believe has a material that doesn't load up or plug up with the softer material. The steel cutter will load or plug with the non ferrous metals and when more pressure is applied to get it to cut it makes it worse then use more pressure and the wheel comes apart.<br>

We have both types on the service trucks and in the shop supply cabinet. Observing after the accident it does make a difference. Same as cutting with a dull knife vs sharp.<br>

Yes it is current normal.

The idea is that if there is a problem on the site where the message is not posted, you won't lose all the text you typed, and you should be able to cut and paste it back when the site is up.

Regular old dino-oil in everything, but change it out on a VERY regular basis.

Cheapest insurance you can get for an engine, clean oil.

Hi I have four of these john deere gator XUVs They are used on very steep hills one of them will stay in gear going down hill holds it back. The others take off you have to ride the brakes hard. one I am using has 50 hours and it is almost ready for new pads. The shift lever does not seam to pop out of gear. The transmission is not holding going down hill.
