Kenneth, if you have two different sized hoses to the remote, it's pretty likely that you have a single acting circuit. The smaller hose would be the pressure side, and the larger hose would be the return side.

On smaller excavators these were extremely common since they would be used only for things like hydraulic packers or demolition chisels to break up side walks or roadways.

It is however VERY easy to add a 6 port 2 way electric valve in there to give you a two way circuit or two.

No, but outside of North America a 'pickup' as we know does not really even exist since it is not the best design, or very practical compared to the alternatives. Especially in Europe and remote areas.

Although the smaller Japanese versions of our style of truck is catching on, they still have a long way to go catch up with the competition.

There is a very great difference in the various components that go into making a tire today, that is why there is such a difference between different tires.

Hard tires roll better, with less friction, but also skid easier, slip more in wet, icy or snowy conditions, and give a harsher ride with more noise.

On the other hand, softer tires have much better grip and adhere better to in snowy icy or wet conditions, unfortunately they also cut easier, and wear much faster.

The key is to find a good balance between the required qualities and objectives.

Generally speaking, if they want to sell a tire for less money, they have to save money making it, that is usually a combination of spending less, or none, on marketing, but also spending less on making it. That is usually achieved by making it in a facility which has a lower production cost (read: cheap labour, old or out-dated equipment) and from less expensive materials.

Virgin rubber is an expensive ingredient, the less they have to put in, the cheaper it will be to make a tire, so they generally have more of the 'other' compounds in them.

The bottom line is to be sure you are comparing apples to apples. Federal law requires all tire manufacturers to produce 'tread life' statistics for tires made or sold in the US, they just don't have to advertise the information, but if you ask for it they must tell you. Often two different brands of tires will look a lot alike, but one may have as much as half of the 'tread life' of the other.

The real problem is not the water IN the cable, it is PREVENTING it from getting in.

The moisture is actually drawn in by a combination of circumstance and physics.

The one end is in a warm dry heated cab, the other end is in a very cold sloppy wet spot behind the front right wheel, and just to make matters worse, the steel inner part of the cable is connected to a hydraulic valve that gets very hot from the fluid running through it.

So, we have a warm steel part, exposed to cold wet snow and slush, as it cools down the difference in temperature, plus the fact that the top of the cable is warm and dry in the cab, actually causes the water to be drawn up into the cable.

The addition of WD-40 will only help in that the lubricated cable will not be as sticky, it will not stop the water from being drawn in as the warm steel cools. Only a physical barrier such as the boot being filled with a very light grease will actually prevent the water from migrating into the cable.

This is very cool, a hand built, scaled down working model of a Ferrari. It has a V12 24 valve engine that starts and runs, working instruments, working gearbox and clutch, lights, and even a working tiny ignition switch with key. It's just like a real car but much, much smaller. If a small enough driver could be found it could be driven just like a real car.

Long and short of it is, if they want it bad enough there is probably a way to get it.

especially in the specialized markets today, theives will specialize to a specific trade
I guess if I was gonna steal a tractor, a large heavy trailer with heavy winching capibility would be the way to go,

seems to me that if the bucket was driven down or the backhoe was buried down a hole, that would minimize the likelyhood of dragging it up on a trailer, unless you could start it to get the bucket up.

guess the kill switch would come in handy to prevent that

I dont know about tractors but travel trailers with outside storeage compartments are all keyed alike at the factory, these little three pin locks are limited, are all Kubota, JD, Etc tractor switches keyed the same ?

I too consider my boxblade the most versatile of all my TPH implements (finish mower, two rotary cutters, landscape rake, bale spike, boom pole, rear blade, seeder/spreader, chain harrow, log splitter). It's clear that you've not yet even scratched the surface of your own boxblade potential. I now understand though, that its narrow width and the wrong tires will work against ever actually achieving that full potential. <br>

Bill, looking from the side and down low a bit, look for a solid steel bar about an inch-and-a-half in diameter with a slight bend in it that extends roughly from the center of the tractor forward under the front axle. <br>

Looking from the top there will be two short tie rods (one each side) connected to the steering knuckles and back to the frame---there is no real tie rod like on a 2WD. <br>

From any distance a non-SS will have the front axle set back about 8 or so inches---that is the biggest giveaway. <br>
<br>
Do yourself a favor and test drive a non-SS then compare notes to a SS.
