I just purchased 2006 L3400 with LA463 loader and 66 hours on it. The tractor seems to work great except when I set down in the seat it bottoms out,no spring to it. I have turned the t-handle on the back of seat clockwise,but nothing. When I first got the tractor I had to use a screwdriver tip to wedge it up. I sprayed WD-40 on all the moving parts and the t-handle. Any help??? Thanks Pat

Are you sure this is PVC?? If its just collapsed I bet it is Orangeburg... kind if a pressed fiber pipe with tar. It is no good, been outlawed since the the 1960's or so in most places. If you can, try to replace it with true PVC rated for underground, otherwise you will be doing this all over again :(

Moisture will form any time, any where there is a temperature differential and moisture laden air (typically air always has some level of moisture in it). Think of dew in the morning o the car and lawn or the morning "steam" vapors on the bathroom mirror (except Kenny--the odd weekend shower :) )

You might benefit by removing the cable or atleast the higher end of the cable and generously spray WD-40 down the cable. You might have to pull back the rubber shroud if any to get it in there. BTW, the name of WD-40 is actually the inventor's 40th try at a Water Displacing formula--hence WD-40.

These weights came from the North Dakota Department of Weights and Measures. (Rejects)

Each weight is (about) 50 pounds. However, over time these weights get dropped, banged together, or otherwise chipped by the State workers. When this happens, the weights no longer weigh exactly 50 pounds, and therefore can no longer be used for certifying scales. (out of tolerance)

I picked up these weights at a State government surplus auction. The carry handles work perfect for running my drawbar through.

The reason I use these weights most of the time, rather than the box scraper, is that I can also use my hitch clevis and a cable, at the same time, without removing the weights. The weights can either be lowered, or raised, so as not to interfere with the cable when I'm dragging a railroad tie, or a bunch of branches.

These weights are far more convenient than having to work around a box scraper.......and they work perfectly.

To remove the weights, I've placed a short piece of railroad tie on the floor in the barn. I back up and set the weights down on the railroad tie, then simply disconnect the drawbar from the lower 3-point arms. There is just enough play in the handles to allow the drawbar to move back and forth, providing for very easy hookup and disconnect.

I believe a set of suitcase weights would work just as well, but I know for a fact that they wouldn't be as cheap! I got myself about a dozen of these weights for 5 dollars, at public auction. What a bargain!

My humble apologies, glenn_g. So much for truth in advertising. However, Their bold claim of being "The Manufacturer" seems to be outright fraud. This is why I have become very cautious of ANYTHING Chinese. I wonder if it is painted with a lead based paint?

Well, I am still on my quest for body parts, have been for over a year now. Things that no stateside reseller keeps around or seems to be able to procure. 1, the molded plastic/vinyl mud guard attached to the fenders. Caught a tree while sliding down an embankment. the left gaurd and the plastic/vinyl tail light assembly where scraped off clean. It is shown on the cover page on the tractor I own but is not listed in the manual. 2.The Tachometer has not worked since 3 months after purchase and 3.the headlights and turn signals stopped working shortly after that. Gee, if only I had a dealer to work with me.

If you just have to buy a foreign tractor, my highest advice to everyone is: make sure the dealer is sound! I would also be very skeptical of any brand that does not have a U.S. representative and parts warehouse.

Spent some time comparing part numbers on-line last night at Circle G tractors, they have many identical looking and part numbers for the 300 and 400 series, as my Leopard 354 if it starts with a "FT 300.xx.xxx " it appears to be the same part.

Circle G, (no I don't work for them) has helped me out with a broken steering tie rod (original was sorry metal full of voids and snapped like a twig) and an oil filter adapter replacement. They seem to have the most viewable parts of all the tractor suppliers I have been able to find. I'm sure the board is familiar with this site but Justin Case, their link is below.

Only major problem I have had is loss of the 4 wheel drive due to a snapped axle (while driving over straight and level terrain and no load). The original drive shaft was made of a thin wall pipe that snapped clean at the rear spline. Luckily my local mechanic made me a new one out of solid bar stock.

Don't get me wrong now, the Futian is a decent tractor but it isn't suited very well for the purpose that I bought it for, that is clearing trees and building a small pond (50x100). My (out of business)dealer told me It would be perfect for that (oh yeah truth in advertising). It has been great for leveling the gravel drive, leveling out the yard and hauling brush and tree debris. Love the Hog hanger, the box blade and the rake attachments.

The pellets are a manufactured product from hardwoods. They are small, kind of look like rabbit food. Each bag weighs 50#. A pellet stove insert would work great for you.

Art; I should have been a bit more specific in not recommending the subsoiling. In our soil types here subsoiling is pretty much a fall only operation, spring subsoiling rough's it up too much and you end up with the best quality clods you ever saw. I do agree with subsoiling deep for better root penetration, we do that here too, maybe not every year but always in the fall. Frank.

Here's my guess.

If the engine works OK and the shaft turns OK, there's not much else to worry about. Tines can be repaired or replaced. Gears and bearings can be more troublesome but can be handled.

The main issue is controling these things, and a garden tractor would make it easier but not trouble-free. I think you'd still need a helper behind the tiller, to shut down if it grabs a rock, or give a push when your wheels spin.

In our areas tiller-use is seasonal. Especially if you have transportation for it, consider renting one of the rear-tine models. You can do a lot in a day, after which you don't have to fix it, store it, worry about it, winterize it, and tune it.

I used to know someone that would dutifully open the Sunday NY Times and turn to the exotic car classifieds and count the number of Ferraris for sale. He then plotted that number on a graph. If it was increasing the economy was bad if not it was good. Seemed to work for him!

Kenny I reread the post about your friend lifting the girl up in the bucket. I did something similar with buddys dog. He always wants to be with me. One day I had the buddys two young girls up on my 40-foot manlift which they like--cheap thrill. They got off and the dog wanted on. He jumps on and we went up about 10 feet and he freaked out. I lowered it and he shot off. Now, when I am on it and call him he bolts the other way. My buddy must be related to the dog though. He asked me to check out his roof on the house so I raised him up about 12 feet and he started crying and says LET ME DOWN P-L-E-A-S-E! I am laughing and he is crying more, so I tell him his girls go almost 4 times that high. He was not in the mood to be impressed with his kids abilities---ROGLMAO! So, I put him down.

Franky, just so you do not have to ask a younger family member and lower your coolness factor (hahaha)--like a first-grader for example, ROGLMAO means: Rolling On the Ground Laughing My A___ Off. tehehehehe

You may be right, Dennis. She's back to driving the old 94 Taurus SHO now and she likes driving it much better than the Highlander. She drove the Taurus daily for 12 years without an accident and if it wasn't so long in the tooth she'd be happy to keep it as her primary transportation.

As an owner of one of the affore mentioned tractors (as described in the lawsuit) I can tell you for a FACT these tractors have as much in common with New Hollands as a Buick has with a Mercury. Except, they do have similar hood line, somewhat similar blue paint scheme and cheesy vinyl white lettering. Any other semblance is that it is a tractor with 4 wheels and is blue. Not even the Ford/New Holland blue. The Futian/FOTON/Jinma/DongHueng, chinese fung-shwei whatevers and several other names being imported into the U.S are nothing at all like a New Holland. By the way (Ford)New Holland, is now going to a yellow paint scheme watch out Catepillar!

Kt; On one of the TV do it yourself shows a few years ago they showed a straw house being built somwhere in the south west US. As I remember they stacked straw bales the heigth of an ordinary single story house wall then plastered over both sides with an adobe type mortar, put door and window frames in and presto a house. I don't remember what sort of a roof they used, but their main points they stressed were the low cost, and the outstanding insulation qualitys. Frank.

There is a reason why some don't have them, cost. Your cylinder rod is bending or flexing within the cylinder bore which is what causes them to hit the boom. That is if you didn't have something come over the bucket to hit the cylinders. You could weld a tab under the cylinder, but the best bet is to weld on some stops.
