The other question is, how will the elimination of traditional analog TV signals next year affect the way people watch TV?

Anybody here who watches local stations off an antennae planning on switching to cable or satellite or something else because of the change?

Kleinchris,

This Smittybuilt winch uses a permanent magnet type motor. In all of the articles I've read on winches, they frown on these things. Series wound motors are much better.

Please look into the differences between permanent magnet and series wound motors. I believe you'll find that the permanent magnet types have a very poor reputation.

First off, a short history lesson is in order.

Jacobsen, along with other 'brands' of turf equipment such as Ransomes, E-Z-Go & Cushman that are part of the Textron family of companies, they also make Bell helicopters, Cessna aircraft and Lycoming aircraft engines.

The brand names were shuffled a few years back and the unit you have is now built by Cushman as the Turf Truckster.

The drive train in your unit should be a standard E-Z-Go unit (although some were built by others), and yes it is a 2 stroke, that way they can create 'reverse' by reversing the polarity of the 12 volts DC going to the starter/generator on the engine and that makes it crank and run in the opposite direction, you can't do that with a 4 stroke engine.

Any place that sells golf cart parts on the 'net will have what you are looking for. Just go by the model number cast into the engine block.

Tktombo; Congradulations on the new tractor. Your box blade makes an excellent counterweight for the FEL, and you can always get a backhoe later if you want one. Frank.

Retcol; Far as I know Deere still assembles their compacts somewhere in Georgia and the lawn mowers are built in your state, Wisconsin, and maybe some in Dubuque, Iowa.

More like late 70's. Seller is either ignorant about the tractor or not reputable. I wouldn't buy it from someone like that umless it was abargain.

At what RPM? Will the bucket curl it up? Is the tractor in neutral?

High or low range should not make a difference but RPM or engine speed would. To check to see if the valve or the cylinder is leaking raise it to the highest position and then close the valve off. If the hitch cylinder is bad it will still leak down, if it doesn't then it is the valve.

The attachment is built by ATI that we use most but there are other makes. It would be best if you could find a dealer that would allow you to swap in your bucket for one with the Q-tach vs welding the plate on the back. to get the right angle to allow normal dumpas well as roll back can be difficult. The added weight is also taking away potential payload.

Thanks to all. I couldn't find a mechanical pump or bleed screws, but loosing the fuel line at the pump and more than I would think running to get the air out, then the lines at the injectors to get fuel worked.

Two of the best aftermarket investments I've ever made for my tractors were the hydraulic toplink and Pat's Easy Change lift arm attachments. And I'm talking about mounting/dismounting/adjusting implements on hillside and woodland. No more levers, no more pry bars and hammers, no busted knuckles or banged up shins, no more new cuss words invented. <br>

Two recommendations; don't waste money on those HTL dual pilot check valves unless you know up front that your tractors hydraulic system has a leakdown problem. And order the optional stabilizer bar for the PEC, it's invaluable when you can't mount implements on level ground.<br>

I purchased side plates and backhoe adapter just last year for a 48 backhoe to a JD 4600 about $1100.00 for both. I previously had the 48 backhoe on a 4300. The side plate kit number is LVB25568 and the backhoe adapter kit number is LVB25579. These numbers may have been superseded. In model, type 4600 then Search. Select 48 backhoe, Sectional Index, 32 side plate kit.
The JD dealer had to call for tech help for parts ordering but was able to get the parts. I hope they have not discounted these parts. To bad you where not installing your 48 backhoe on a 4300 because I have all the parts.
The 48 is a great backhoe and is easy to get on and off the 4600. You may need to get some different hydraulic hoses in addition to accommodate the 4600.
If you are still unsuccessful in getting these parts form your locate JD dealer, let me know and I will call my dealer and see if they can still get these parts and what you have to do to get them.

I bought a 2120 with a backhoe and front end loader. The engine block was cracked on it and I got it repaired for a little less than $3000. I used an independent shop and they bought a new block though the local Case dealer for a lot less than through New Holland.

The cause of the block failure can be traced probably to not keeping all the bolts attaching front end loader tight. There is also a kit to use to spread the force to other holes. My machine came out of utility construction and trying to crack concrete and asphalt pavement was too much for it.

I just wanted to make sure a. you got what you were paying for i.e, if they rebuilt only one component but said they did two of the same category, you got ripped and, b. others with this problem like yours may be reading this thread and skip to the end the of the story only to find an erroneous solution.

I agree about the manual but just as difficult as it is to recognize the tractor number, it is as difficult to find an appropriate manual. But thanks for the advice and we will keep looking for the manual. :-(

Also - the fins behind the radiator get clogged up with chaff and dust. If that area's not kept constantly cleaned out, the coolant goes back into the engine too hot. I use a furnace filter up front, and clean with compressed air from the backside. But if compressed air doesn't do it, you'll have to pull the radiator and clean it off the tractor.<br>
