Great idea, just to test out what you said I took an old box floor fan and set it 1 foot off the floor blowing on the ceiling. It was very effective at blowing the cold air into the hot ceiling air and stopping the stagnation of air on the second story. I am wondering if that set up with the floor fan could actually be more effective than the ceiling fan.

Frank, you made a good point about the tractor fender. I took a good look at possible locations for the valves and decided that right under the loader controls is a better place. I'd fab a bracket up that would use existing bolt holes. I wouldn't mind a Kubota setup, but I think I can do the work with Surplus Center parts.

kleinchris, I think that the cautions from members about extra lighting are because of the continuous draw. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the length of time of continuous use of the winch, not much else. The winch on my 4-wheeler will pull it up into a tree on battery power alone, which is the only place it gets power from. Sure, the generator produces the charge for the battery, but if there isn't sufficient energy stored in the battery, the winch is no good.

I understand your idea about mounting the winch on a receiver hitch, it's done on four-wheel drives all the time. Which brings me to the difference between the truck and tractor, if it exists. GM pioneered the one-wire alternator, and it has its advantages and disadvantages...but now it is very popular and Delco produces millions of them for all kinds of vehicles, including tractors.
If your tractor has a one-wire alternator, it basically serves to keep the battery charged. It has an internal voltage regulator and this controls the alternator output to keep the battery at a certain charge.
If your tractor has a three-wire alternator, then its internal voltage regulator uses "remote sensing" and can increase the alternator output to meet the demand on the electrical system and not just react to the decrease in battery charge. This type alternator is considered by most people to be the alternator of choice when you have considerable loads on a vehicle's electrical system.
Okay, enough of that...I guess it depends on how much you plan to use the winch. And by all means, use a relay, don't try to draw pwer through the fuse block.

Oh, have you considered adding a deep cycle battery to the 3-point/receiver hitch setup? I have one in a toolbox on my flatbed trailer to power the winch. i just charge it up occasionally...probably should add an ammeter sometime, but it works. And since it's easy to do, buy a couple of cheap floodlights and add them to the mix. All running off the deep cycle battery(ies).

Apparently *nobody* makes an insert that will work with this fireplace without taking a sawzall to it. So a woodstove is out of the question. I guess we'll take that money and invest in radiant floor heat on the main floor.

Can you tell me who, based on your experience, the better manufacturer was/is?

I know that you in particular place a value on the quality of the dealerhip that stands behind the piece of equipment. I've done most of my research on line, but I'm trying to track down that part of the equation as well.

Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.

Greetings all. I have the pleasure to report the replacement seat for the B/BX is worth the wait. <br>
Does anyone know if there are armrests that are made for these seats. <br>
My dealer was truly helpful (Midstate in Midddletown CT) . They also mentioned that a midwest dealer ordered 3000 of the seats. They had ordered 15. It seemed a little skewed to me. <br>
My dealer also mentioned that they have had folks bend the base of their current seat up to make it "gravity defying".<br>

Ken was hoping for a answer w/o going to JD. Oh Well!

Just got done with JD the new part is M810324 replaces M808284.

I damn near fell on the floor when I saw the price. $150 and change. I'll be dipped in ____ (the material that comes from the south end of a north bound mammal) before I pay that. I'll put a string and a push button on it before I pay that kind of money for a $12 part. Google will get a work out if I really want one. Otherwise I'll cut the back out and put a cable on it to open the flow.

Sorry can't help with your question. You'll have to look at your part # to tell. If it's like mine you won't see it because they painted over the tag.

I also bought the lift gate from a delivery truck (tractor-trailer type)with the 12 volt motor and pump, and large hyd ram, for $80. I haven't messed with it yet, but if all I get is the steel, the joints, etc, then it is still worth the price. If the hydraulics work, I really made out. That'll become a dump trailer sometime in the future. I figure it weighs 12-1400 pounds. The trip to the auction was just what the doctor ordered.<br>

Looking at it from my side, the cabs 6500 round numbers when new, 300 for a radio, 600 for a valve and 350 for a Q-tach on the bucket. Then, you have the lower hours and the five extra horsepower which was about $2,000 when new.

The sod farms here get typically three cuttings a year from the same plot. And yes it's grown on bare clay--no topsoil. They seed it heavily, fertilize it and keep it watered. It's a blend of rye, and 5 species of Kentucky blue. They use Milorganite (dried, pelletized human poop) as one of the fertilizers. Each sod roll can weigh anywhere from 16 - 30 lb. according to the farm. There is another farm south of here that uses nothing but sand for their sod. It is light weight but falls apart easily.

I just acquired a Gray Market Mitsubishi D2650FD refurb. I have beem a mechanic for 40 yeas so I checked it well before I got it. Runs great and seems to be just what I have been wanting for a while. The loader has allowed me to do in a day what used to take a few weeks. I have 2 Belarus 250AS tractors that I love and they are relegated to bush-hogging and cultivating. I got the 2650 for the loader, raking, post hole digger and also toting a trailer around. That being said I would like to get a set of service and parts manuals. I searched the web and found that the 2650 is not as common as other 3 Diamond tractors. Anyone have a good source I could hook up with?<br>

Chris,

My guess is your soil was quite depleted of any minerals when you planted the grass and it will need several feedings per year to establish the root systems to sustain a green lawn. A yellow lawn is almost always a sign of a lack of fertilizer. Just give it fertilizer more often next year and of course you will have to mow it more.

Also, fall is a good time to fertilize because it will green up earlier next spring. If you have already had some killing frosts, fertilizer now would not help much now but would help it green up sooner.

As to the clover, it's hard to kill. 2-4D will burn it back temporarily but you would have to hit it several times with a much stronger mix than suggested on the label and then sometimes that won't even work. They use to make a special clover/chickweed chemical that works better that you might be able to still find. If not, just keep putting a strong mix of 2-4D and you will eventually kill it.

The detent ball is on the left side of the machine right behind the lever, look close it is there. As mentioned in earlier posts you can loosen the lever and it will fall out, or try and clean the casing out.
